“A very nice find”
Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

We were looking to return to another restaurant nearby that we visited last year but came across this one without knowing how it rated.
The service was very pleasant and friendly and they checked that we were headed for the Opera so they could make sure we were ready in good time.
The food was good - nothing outstanding and nothing poor. I asked for the pork with bacon and cheese to be quite well done - against the waitress's advice. She was right - should have had it a bit less well done. Everyone else were very happy with huge salmon, nice beef and lasagne. We ordered too much sides as the food came with some veg.
Wine list was good and the Ripasso at 18.50 was very acceptable.
A very homely and good restaurant - we will be back next year.

“Maybe we were unlucky”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

On balance, our experience here was above average, so I am hard-pressed to give it a low score, but the chef did not have a good night with his salt dispenser. The restaurant has great ambiance and the service was very nice. Octopus salad for appetizer was unique and fantastic, suggesting a great meal ahead. However, both main courses came too salty, and even good panna cotta afterwards could not make up for it. Given the preponderance of positive reviews (which was a basis for us selecting the place), I allow the possibility that we were just unlucky.

“Good food , not great”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Our family of 3 enjoyed the food here. We found that despite having a reservation they put us all the way in the back and tried to rush us out a bit. We were going to the opera so it was fine with us that night but normally it would have really annoyed me. Melon and prosciutto was just ok, melon was not quite ripe and neither were the tomatoes in my sons capreses salad . The pasta was good. I got the Tartufato but my husband got one with a smoked ricotta which was too over powering , almost like a BBQ sauce.

“Wine and food lovers must go”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Given we had a tough day traveled from Bergamo to Verona in a raining day, La Vecia Mescola reminded us why we come Italian. Amazing food and wine selections. We were in Verona and bologna for more than a week, I would say this was one of the best meal I've had in Italy. Fine dining environment with reasonable prices and waiters are very attentive too! Nothing to complaint, we were so satisfied we gave pretty good tips. It's a must if you happened to be in Verona!

“Great restaurant”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

We pick this restaurant from Tripadvisor and it was a good choice. We wanted one near the arena but not on the touristic streets. The location looks abd feels great. We were 4 and took different for main and all was ok especialy the lasagna. The wine the staff pick was a great choise. On the second we all took horse meat, yes horse meat with sauce. Great choice. Also tiramisu was very good. 4 people - 100 euro
We will return
