I think this is the most beautiful church in Verona. It is spectacular. The ornate design is breathtaking. I could spend all day inside. It is even more impressive than the main cathedral in Verona.

This Italian Gothic church is really beautiful. We arrived in the rain and it was a sunny place to spend some time. The normally beautiful church was being adored with delicate greenery and flowers for a wedding. It was aglow with candles, vaulting ceilings, and beautiful frescoes. Sant'Anastasia extends over three aisles supported by twelve massive pillars made out of red marble from Verona. This is the home of two very unusual holy water stoups. Touch the hunchback on his hump for good luck. Make sure that you don't miss the fresco of St. George and the Princess by Pisanello above the Pellegrini Chapel. I also really liked the series of 24 terracotta tableaux retelling the story of Christ's life in that same chapel.
We used the Verona card here. You can buy the Verona Card at any of the places that accept it and at the tourist office in the Piazza Bra in the center of the historic town. The card costs 15€ for 2 days or 20€ for 5 days. It covered every place we wanted to go in Verona saving us lots of money. The card can only be used once at most places.

The interior of this cathedral is filled with outstanding artwork that has been well preserved over history. It still holds the original marble block flooring, and a crucifix in a room from the original church.

IT is well worth making the effort to go inside. You will be amazed.

very large and airy, it is the largest church in Verona. frecoes like everywhere. very serene and beautiful; not heavy like French Gothic. an early renaissance gem.
