“Unbelievable place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013 via mobile

We were a party of 4 and had an apartment for 3 night. Upon arrival we had all their wine in our room. The white wine was fabulous. On the next day we had a wine tasting of all their wines, plus the grappa ( which is total awesome) and olive oil. when the tasting was over, we got to meet the rest of the guests as they left all the openned bottles for us to finish and of course we did. All the working people at the winery were very helpful..very pleasant....Paulo, we will be back for a longer time. All your wine was totally awesome. Wished you could have shipped a couple of cases to me in the states

Paolo and his staff make it easy to feel at home in this beautiful B & B. Located in a restored palazzo and on the site of a winery, the atmosphere combines old world charm with all the modern conveniences - and you can do your own wine-tasting whenever you want! Each room is individually decorated in its own theme and has modern amenities. An afternoon swim in the pool takes the edge off the Italian summer heat. Paolo knows all the best places to eat in the area, so take advantage of his recommendation, and you won't miss not having dinner on site. Be sure to come by car, there's no public transport in this area. It's about a 20 minute drive into Verona, but the route is easy to follow and in-town parking is available.

Room Tip: La Picconaia is a lovely room.

As has been written on here already by my dad, my wife and I had our wedding at Musella in June 2012. It's the perfect place for a laid back, non-conventional wedding, with the added bonus of having some of the greatest wine in Italy practically on tap...

We stayed here in 2010 while on our way to Lake Garda for a friend's wedding and fell in love with the place instantly. It's about 20 minutes from Verona so you can pop in and see the sights easily enough, either by car, train or taxi (and Paulo can help arrange them for you. More on him later). I'd recommend heading into Verona for a look round, and if you can, the opera as it's a great little town and the opera is incredible (and this is from someone who wouldn't class themselves as all that cultured...).

You can easily spend a week just in the grounds of the Vineyard and estate. The rooms are impeccable, with the staff cleaning them daily - while you're down having the very good continental breakfast. There is a small pool for relaxing by and having a quick dip when it gets hot. We've been here in June and in August, and the latter was very hot (35 degrees+), so this was very welcome. There are also canoes to use if you fancy taking one out and exploring along the river. And complimentary bikes for exploring along the roads.

The wine tasting and tour of the Vineyard are a must and Paulo (that man again) really knows his stuff and is only too happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you're a dog lover, you'll be in heaven here. There are 4 rescue dogs who live in the estate and every day Paulo brings them down to the courtyard where they chill out, chase each other, come and say hello to the guests and in the case of our wedding - try and get in every shot they can. We loved that and encouraged them to come and sit with us, but if you're not into dogs if you tell them to go away they will. We couldn't brings ourselves to though and by the end of the week (for the wedding) Drago was like an adopted member of the family.

There is a great little restaurant just down the road which does very reasonably priced local food, a few decent beers on tap, and a wide range of wines - although after tasting the Musella Valpolicella you'll want to stick to that - and some of the staff speak a bit of English.

We ate here a couple of times and the night before the wedding we had a group of 40 of us go down there to eat. Paulo (that man again...) was brilliant and helped organise it all for us.

Now on to Paulo...

The man is simply brilliant. He speaks Italian, English and Portuguese that I know of, but knowing him probably has another language or 2 hidden away too.

He greets you as you arrive (along with one or all of the dogs) and makes you feel welcome straight away. He'll get the check in sorted ASAP, then whisk you up to your room and give you the low-down on everything. He's always available if you have any questions and always happy to help.

When we knew we wanted to get married here, we dropped him an email to see if they would be interested and within 2 days he'd sent back a price break down, what we could expect, gave us the name of a wedding planner and caterer he recommends and had worked with and wished us all the best even if we didn't go for the wedding there.

You get the feeling he genuinely cares and loves his job. During our 2nd time there which was for our wedding, he was constantly on hand to help, offer support/advice/book taxis/speak to restaurants, you name it he was happy to help.

During our reception he came over to my wife and I and gave us a boxed magnum of wine with a little note on it from him, and then later in the evening presented my dad and I with a bottle of desert wine he no longer sells, but he over heard my dad saying how he liked desert wine, so he donated a bottle to us.

The man is a star.

As are the rest of the family. Paulo's mother-in-law lives on the estate and you'll see her wandering round occasionally, in between rounds of golf. We went to an Italian Wine Fair day in London a month before the wedding and ran into Paulo's brother-in-law and mentioned we were getting married at the vineyard and he gave us a bottle of wine as a good luck present.

It's little touches like that which make this place so special.

If you're looking to head over to Italy and are thinking of being near the Verona are, this place is a must. We've been twice and will be going back again, and again. The people who came to our wedding loved it there and have said they will be going back at some point. And people who have seen the wedding photos have asked us where it is and I know of a few that are planning on heading over in the next few years. One even mentioned it as a potential wedding venue.

Paulo and family, thanks for making our wedding so memorable and enjoyable, and we'll see you again soon.

Alex and Genna.

Room Tip: Look on the site and there is a breakdown of all the rooms. They're all brilliant though.

Glad to find this lovely property. It's close enough to Verona to make city visits easy, yet it feels as if you're really in the country. Very secure, too, with gates. Yes, there are dogs (at least three--I lost count). And I'm not a huge dog lover, but they never bothered us.

The night that we arrived, there was a reception for a local photographer. The B&B manager Paulo graciously invited us to join in. We begged off due to jet-lag, but it was nice to be asked. Paulo and the office assistant were always ready to help with car routes, etc. They offered a wine tasting, but we had other plans for all the days we were there, and they didn't pressure us, which we appreciated.

We had one of the basic rooms. It was large and comfortable.

Regarding nearby restaurants, the one within walking distance was our least favorite. We far preferred Matarana, a fairly short drive. We went on Sunday evening and it was like stumbling into an Italian movie -- dozens of Italian families of three and even four generations having dinner together. We also enjoyed the restaurant in the nearby village of St. Martin B.A., which is open on Monday when the others are closed.

Room Tip: Room 2, a basic double called the Rose Room, is quite nice. It is very pink!

It's a fantastic location outside Verona - It was so peaceful and the restaurant at the bottom of the road was great and so welcoming the starter was lovely, pasta was great and pudding was blissful.
Breakfast was lovely, the suite was sublime and generally it was a unique and special place to stay.

Musella is a great place to stay near Verona for those looking for a simple, comfortable, friendly place to stay with good accommodation and tasty breakfasts. Musella is about 15 mins drive from Verona, is close to a couple of trattorias and to San Martin Buon Albergo, has lovely grounds with a plunge pool, and a lovely small river. - try the canoe! Musella wines are very good and the wine tasting we enjoyed included a very interesting tour of the vineyards. Worth considering going for one of the apartments with a kitchen if staying for more than a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Go for a room with kitchen

We had the pleasure of staying at Musella while we were in Italy. I have been to many cities in Italy and Verona was one of the most beautiful and clean of the cities I have visited. The best part was escaping the city (a short 15 minute drive) to the countryside of Valpolicella. Musella is a wine estate (The wines are amazing, and all highly rated!) but also has an amazing Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are situated around a great courtyard. Beautifully decorated and clean. The breakfast spread is lovely as well, featuring local cheese, charcuterie, honey, yogurt and great coffee. A perfect romantic get away this time but I will bring my kids next time as they would enjoy running around the estate, fishing in the creek and having breakfast. Great proximity to Lake Garda as well and lots of wine regions.
