The location is great for exploring the old city area and walking by the sea. It is located Close to many restaurants yet located on a side street so it is quiet.

The breakfast is very good and the hostess makes you feel like family. Great selection of cheeses and fruits.

Reviewed 2 April 2014

We very recently returned from Bari and overall we enjoyed our stay at the Palace Hotel. When we arrived on the evening of Saturday 29 April 2014 the lady at the reception was very warm, welcoming and helpful. We were upgraded from a Junior Suite to a Suite, which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. Having read other reviews, it seems that upgrades are common when the hotel is not full.

Our first breakfast was in a hall and the lighting was bad and there was no natural light. Although the waitors were courteous, the selection of breakfast food was quite poor. Also, we felt as though the waitors were clearing up before we had even finished, although they were in no way rushing us to leave. Breakfast on the following morning was served at the restaurant downstairs. It was okay, but again there was hardly any natural light and the deco is in need of updating because the rest of the hotel is actually very nice and mixes modern and traditional quite well.

Our room was lovely - the only issue we had was the lack of water pressure from the shower. Also, "yes" we were in Italy, but there were absolutely no English channels on the TV for our children to watch, which is unusual for a European country.

The major let down was that the 7th floor restaurant was closed. The website did not mention this hugely important fact! We chose the hotel on the basis of location and the beautiful views from the restaurant terrace. We also read rave reviews about the restaurant cuisine and the ambience and understood that we would be breakfasting on the restaurant terrace each morning. We had also planned to have at least two dinners on the restaurant terrace.

We were hugely disappointed about the lack of information about the restaurant closure when we booked. When we raised this with the Manager on our departure she made some excuse that they had a water leak and rennovations were only supposed to take a week. She also said that we could eat at the other restaurant. We requested a small token discount as a goddwill gesture so we could also recommend the hotel to our friends, family and business associates. Unfortunately, the Manager on duty that day (1 April 2014) had made up her mind and she would not agree to this. She was not impolite, but she was inflexible. She offered us a discount on our next visit to the hotel, which we declined.

We would like to compliment the bar staff, the room cleaners, the staff at reception, and the staff in general though as they were always kind and helpful. Our children also felt at home in the hotel.

A large, slightly tired building however the location and service more than compensated.
Reception were very helpful making calls and printing documents for us and the restaurant manager at breakfast was delightfully enthusiastic - genuine Italian lady.

Dear Guest,
we are very glad if you have found good at PALACE HOTEL Bari and thank you for rating. Sorry for the light bulb in your room but you understand that it can happen even after control of housekeeper. It 's very strange that instead you moaning on the variety of white wines: we have many labels in our wine list and perhaps our waiter has not got it right your request.
Thank you so much for time that you have spent and we hope to see you soon in Bari and of course at the Palace Hotel.

We selected this hotel because of it's excellent location, but the service, from both people at reception, Mimma when we checked in and a man the next morning, made us feel more welcome than many of the smaller and more intimate places we stayed in Puglia. Along with upgrading us to a lovely suite, Mimma made suggestions for where to eat (La Pignata - excellent), where to have gelato, and the best neighborhoods to walk. Her enthusiasm for Bari is contagious. Thank you Mimma!

Upon arrival we had a room upgrade and were given a Junior suite with balcony. That was a great surprise....very clean room and huge bathroom. We also asked for a late check out and in fact check out at 4.30pm at no extra cost. Very good breakfast and excellent friendly service. No negative points, would recommend this hotel to anyone who goes to Bari. Centrally located a few mins away from the old area of Bari and just 2 mins away from Bari shopping area and restaurants. The train station is a 20mins walk away were you could get a train ride to the airport for EUR5.

From time to time I travel to Bari for business purpose and last time I stayed at the Palace Hotel.
My room was not so big, but it was comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower, but it did not drain properly and this was not fixed during my stay, although I informed the reception on the day after my arrival. Also, I was a little bit annoyed because there was no safe in the room, but I used one of the deposit-boxes on the ground floor.
Staff members were kind and friendly.
The location is perfect, a few steps from Bari's lovely Old Town.
Breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of both sweet and savoury food. The restaurant is not so bad, but a little bit expensive in comparison to the quality of food.
Altogether I had a pleasant stay and would stay again at this hotel.
