We spent two nights at Rosso Di Sera in April. We certainly had very high expectations based on the reviews of Tripadvisor. We found very positive things, however in our opinion, there were some negative aspects as well. Location was good, 5 minutes from l'Alghero, so yet being very close to the city center you are in a special setting, sorrounded by olives trees. That means also you will probably need a car to move around. The house was a modern house (not typical architecture) with two rooms and a common space to eat, chat or read. There was a garden and a swimming pool, but unfortunately we could not use it as it wasn't warm enough. Our room was a family room (two beds), although we just used one. It was clean, spacious and originally decorated. Bathroom was correct and they provided some toiletries, although after the first night we hadn't them refilled and we needed to shower with shampoo. There was a minibar in the room too. Bed was very comfortable. Cleanliness was very good. Breakfast was served with nice tablecloths and well prepared table, although we expected the food to be better: there were packed sweets such as croasans or toasted packed bread. There was also two types of local breads, butter, mermelade and nutella. The amount of meats and cheese was scarce, although you could ask for more. Coffee was nice and with refills. A negative point that should be mentioned is that as the rooms were close to the common area, the noise coming from the preparation of breakfast or other people having breakfast before, might wake you up. We certainly did not like that. Attention was good. We were offered some snacks during the check in (which is a nice detail) and had a little bottle of own produced olive oil when we checked out. Overall, we think the price was too high (80 euros/night, low season) for the services of a bed and breakfast and being in low season.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that something wasn't like you had expected but we are even more sorry because you didn’t let us know about your concerns while you were here during one of the many occasions in which we had the opportunity to talk. First and foremost, when we have guests that have breakfast at different times I try to be very careful in not making noise. However, when it’s cold or it’s rainy, breakfast must be served inside and not on the porch. Thus, when that happens, you might hear the other couple talking and that it’s quite inevitable. In fact, since you have decided to spend your vacation time in a Bed and Breakfast and not in a Hotel that implies that the rooms happen to be closer and, therefore, you should be aware that you are most likely going to have a closer relationship with the other guests. Although that is true, in other Bed and Breakfast you might also hear the noise made by the owners of the house; however, that did not normaly happen in our B&B since our part of house is separate from the guests’ rooms. For what concerns our breakfast choices you forgot to mention backed and fresh sweets (which happen to be different every day in addition to pre-packed snacks), fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, and a variety of juice. For what concerns meat and cheese, we are used to make smaller portions since when we first opened up the B&B, we were likely to have bigger portions and we had to throw away too much food. Given our past experience, we prefer to serve fresh food that its well preserved for the good of our guests. Also, I am always there to serve more food as soon as I see the plate half empty. I even happened to make 4 cappuccinos for the same person in the same day. Indeed, serving my guests and refilling plates and drinks is a must for me since when I see my guests happy while eating, drinking, and having a chat with me or with other guests cannot be other than a pleasure for me. I am very sorry if you didn’t get to have extra body shower, this should not have happened but that is not our custom, we usually refill the rooms with body showers and other supplies every day. Thus, we would have loved if you had asked us for whatever you needed, I am sure we would have been more than pleased to help you and to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I am also sorry that you could not use the swimming pool, but that is not our fault, we have guests that swim in April as well as in October, but we cannot change our prices according to the weather or nationality. In spite of all the above, we always work with the passion of whom wants to try to make his guests as happy as possible, certainly we could do better, but we also would love to receive productive reviews rather than disruptive ones.

The b&b is about 2.5 miles from Alghero centro storico. Our room was spacious and spotless. The bed was quite comfortable with an immaculate bathroom ensuite with hot water shower and bidet. Claudia, the hostess, helped us plan our daily events, speaking fluent English. Breakfast was adequate for us consisting of rolls, sweets, ham and cheese and cappucino.
The villeta is furnished in functional modern style. There is a pool and small area for eating outside when the weather is good.

The house has more than adequate parking, it goes without saying that one needs to hire a car to stay here. Alghero is a good base for one day trips to Bosa, Cuglieri, Stintino and Castelsardo. The old town itself is beautiful with plenty of good shops and restaurants even in off season. When spending an evening in Alghero, catch the red sunset from the backyard with the olive groves in the foreground. (hence the name Rosso di Sera)

There is just one little shortcoming of this lovely home. We found the wireless network to be spotty and available only in certain areas. This was inconvenient for us because we would come home late at night and had to stay in the common area to check our mail or plan our itinerary for the next day. However, Claudia always managed to help us out with planning so that ameliorated the frustration I felt sometimes. Claudia always went beyond what one would expect from a host. We would love to go back again.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to know that you had a good stay both here in Alghero and at our house. We are also sorry for the issues you have encountered with the internet. Unfortunately, the only solution we have for our house is the satellite connection and, sometimes, often according to the weather, it doesn't work properly. Fortunately, this situation verifies only sometimes when we happen to have a lower signal in the B&B area; in fact, it works fine also by the pool. However, we have already contacted the internet company that is trying to figure out what the problem is and how to solve it as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your patience during those moments in which you weren't able to use the service as you should have. Many thanks.

Claudia

Alghero in combination with this great and very friendly and flexible B&B and you´ll be infected by Sardegna. Garden is embedded into an olive field, with refreshing pool. Colorful rooms and good, variant breakfast on the terrace (with sea view) complete the impressions. Car or bicycle needed to go to the city or beaches. For all B&B fans on Sardegna a MUST!

Rosso di Sera is a lovely, small, quit, relaxing B&B only 10 minutes from the vivid center of Alghero (a car is needed though). We had a warm welcome by Claudia and her always smiling baby daughter. The room was good and clean. Breakfast was good and fresh (only thing missing in my opinion were eggs). The swimming pool is really nice with great relaxing chairs. We boroughed beach towels and parasols for free to take to the perfect beaches around the area. We stayed for one week and spent 1 day in between in another hotel on the Smeralda coast to do a boat trip (it is about 2- 2 1/2 hour drive). The only thing we can say in addition is that this B&B looks even better than the pictures... Pure joy!

When ever we go to Italy, we try to book the best bed & breakfasts we can find. This way we visited quite a lot of beautiful B&B's. From all these B&B's, Rosso di Sera was no doubt among the best, if not the best. The B&B is situated 3 kilometers outside of the city of Alghero. It is a little hard to find, but if you type "Via Valverde" in your navigation system you can follow the signs from there on. From the old city of Alghero to the B&B can not be more that 10 minutes by car. The B&B is situated in a relatively new building, in the middle of an olive tree yard with 250 olive trees. Let us not forget to mention that there is a nice pool in the garden that you can use. The owner, Claudia, is very symphatetic and helpfull. She speaks English very well. The rooms are well equipped and clean. Sleeping quality is excellent. The rooms are decorated in a modern way, with great eye for detail. Breakfast was abundant. You will certainly not be disappointed if you pick this B&B. Claudia: thanks very much for a great stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Claudia and her family. The accommodation (which is separate from the family accommodation) is very nice, comfortable, modern and clean. Only two rooms which is also a bonus if you like peace and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and for those of you who like good coffee, Claudia makes a great cappucino.

The setting is perfect - easy for the town and in the countryside surrounded by olive trees and with a lovely pool and garden.

Claudia went out of her way to make us feel welcome and to suggest things that we might do.
