The restaurant at Hotel Villa Las Tronas is certainly worth the effort. We went along a few days ago to this 5 star ex Italian Royal premises. We walked the 10 minutes from the old town along the coast road and pressed the buzzer to gain entry and then walked along the pretty path to the reception. We were then invited into the restaurant and chose our table with a lovely sea view for the sunset. So last night with huge expectations we again took the pretty walk and we were not disappointed. We had Prosecco aperitives whilst we chose from the menu. The matre'd recommended a lovely Algheron red wine having established what we wanted to pay, it was 36 Euros and excellent. My poor Italian was unnecessary as all the staff spoke excellent english. We had the Seafood fantasy and Sea Bream carpaccio for starters which were amazing with lovely flavours, presentation and large portion size. We then had the Swordfish with cubed vegetables and Sea bass with rainbow coloured tagliolini and tomatoes. Both dishes were again excellent. I then had the 70% chocolate souffle with saffron sauce - small but with intense flavour which meant it was certainly big enough. John had an expresso and a yellow grappa. We also had water and the bread basket. Total cost was 134.50 Euros plus a tip which we thoought was amazing value for the quality, quatitiy, flavours, service and view. A young couple asked to go down to the waters edge at sunset and the matre'd showed them the way, it was a beautiful night and we thought a marriage proposal was to be made, sadly this is 2010 so instead a camera was produced at sunset and a picture taken. The sunset was particularly impressive so this was a missed opportunity by the young man - if John and I weren't already married I would have proposed myself!
