“Great Family run hotel.”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

Beautiful location, easy drive into the centre of Alghero which has lots of free parking! Delicious breakfast and even in October we were able to eat outside.
Helpful friendly, family run business, they suggested many wonderful places for us to visit.
Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a quiet location just outside of the city with pleasant grounds. It has a pool and tennis court(s) if guests want to use them. The breakfast is a very good buffet selection, with lots of fresh food including fruit; the waitress made me excellent hot chocolate too!

The rooms are quite comfortable, but they are let down by poor sound-proofing where the walls between rooms are not solid and you can hear what is going on next door. What is REALLY annoying is that at the time of my stay the hotel seemed to be half-empty at best, so why could they not have spread out the guests to alleviate this issue? I ended up moving my bed to the other side of the room to try and get some sleep!

There is no restaurant for dinner. The story I was told was that they used to try and open it, but all the guests wanted to eat in Alghero. I tried to get the receptionist in the evening to recommend somewhere, but got no helpful information.

The Wi-Fi only works near reception, also I couldn't get the air conditioning to work, as far as I could make out it seemed to indicate that it needed maintenance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the end of the building, ideally with nobody next door.

We arrived at Alghero after a bit of a hassle with the payments. Essentially, the place we booked it through sent payment, but the resort never collected it. I contacted them and was told that the time they had to accept the payment had passed, so I would have to EMAIL them my payment details - like I was going to do that! In the end, 7 months later they took payment randomly which confused us - few emails back and forth and all was sorted out for our visit last month (but could have done without the stress or international calls!).

Anyway, when we arrived we instantly thought WOW as we drove up the dirt track... until we saw the horses in the fields (directly adjoining the hotel). These horses were terribly thin, bordering on emaciated (we've kept horses for 10 years, so don't say this lightly) - it was very upsetting and put us off any horse riding trips. Other guests also commented on this to us and were upset also.

Anyway, as I said the hotel itself is beautifully located and clean. A complete change from our Olbia hotel! The room was light and had a great view of the mountains and pool. However, the food was a tad overpriced and small portions. My wife ordered the sea bass for approx 15 euros and it came with JUST a small fish and nothing else - no garnish. Also, the room was directly above the kitchen so we could hear the 'tenderising' of the food!

We arranged to go on a boat trip the following day, which was arranged for 3pm - the trip was to include transport to the harbour and back, as it was the owner who owned the boat. We got back from seeing the "Neptunes Grotto" at about 1pm, and decided to relax a bit - only to receive a call asking us where we were as they are heading off now! This was at 1:45pm - NOT 3pm. We quickly got ready and went out only to be told the car was full and we'd have to follow them in our hire car - good job I hadn't had a drink at lunch time and we DID have a car!

Anyway, the boat trip was really nice and relaxing and we had a great time. The captain was charming and friendly and provided on-board snacks and chilled wine, which was much needed as we didn't have a chance to get any refreshments on the way! When we returned to the hotel, they did charge us 20 euros less - no explanation why - but we didn't argue.

I know it sounds like we are having a moan - some of it is justified and can be worked on. All the staff spoke English very well and were helpful - just need to sort those horses out and fix a few things to round it off and make it better ie there was a pool bar, but no one manning it - with meals, they need to include garnish. If someone orders a mixed grilled fish platter, don't give them just a small sea bass and nothing else! The bread basket stopped my wife from passing out from lack of food! :)

All in all, it is a beautiful hotel in a lovely location - just needs a bit of extra care around the hospitality side of it.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room at the back near the dirt track leading to the hotel - stick with the garden...

We only went for a spa experience and ended up spending most of the day by the pool thanks to the lovely staff who even got us some lunch even though the chef was on his / her day off.

Spa experience was good (lavender experience). They have a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and some cold showers (we think were described as "emotional showers" in the description!). Massage was great! Showering and changing facilities were great too.

Such a peaceful and friendly place - would definitely reccomend a trip there even if you're not staying there. Oh and they have a tennis court and lots (30!) of horses with horse riding facilities which we didn't do but looked good.

This hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere a few miles from central Alghero. But once we were on the property, it was a landscaped, sparkling, new facility with nice rooms, and all the things to make you feel at home. The hotel is family owned, and the daughter and Mom switch off running the reception, and the daughter also is a food server. There is nothing they couldn't do for us. There is good internet service, and a nice pool area. Once a week the hotel puts on a traditional prix fixed dinner for 25 euros per person. It was the best meal we had in Sardinia, and we had some good ones. We were able to get same day reservations at a substantial discount, so they understand the wisdom of having a full house, even if deeply discounted.

We enjoyed our stay at the resort with the friendly staff. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and the advice on what to do was great. Our suite was wonderful with lots of space and air conditioning. The swimming pool and setting were lovely and tranquil and the trip into Alghero very easy by car.
The only real improvement we could mention would be the evening food but the mojitos were fabulous !

Overall a wonderful stay
