“Good time in La Margherita”
Reviewed 19 December 2012

I stayed in La Margherita for 5,5 days.

The location of the hotel is very central. Across the street there is a supermarket and another store where you can buy an italian sim-card etc. Also Unicredit cash-dispenser is only a few steps down the street. The hotel is located only 2-3 minutes walk from a popular square and all the best restaurants with a sea-view.
The personnel is very friendly and ready to help with everything. I got sick with a high temperature and the girl from the reception expressed her wish right away to take me to the drugstore (which is also 2 min away).
The room was very spacy and looking nice, i also had a balcony viewing the sea. There is a fridge so one can put some food there if needed.

There is also an internet downstairs.

What i also liked is their nice swimming-pool with sauna.

There are 2 minuses of this hotel:

It needs renovation as when you get to your floor, there is a feeling of the "soviet times" atmosphere. I thought it would be the same in the room but it was really nice and quite different. So it relates mainly the corridors.

The main minus is the breakfast. It's quite poor. Also when the cheeze was finished in the middle of breakfast, they didn't add more. So people who came later, didn't have ham and cheeze but only milk with a croissant (not new-bakes ones).

Overall the hotel is nice to stay in for a few days but i am not sure if i go there again. I like good breakfasts and a modern-style looking interior.

Hotel very clean, smart and tidy. Absolutely wonderful Spa and jacuzzi for relaxing after exploring historical Alghero which is literally just outside the door. Bars, restarants, the harbour, shops all very close by. Lovely continental breakfast with lots to choose from. Staff polite and helpful and return from evenings out finished perfectly with the best tasting coffee made by Toni.

Room Tip: 4th floor has good views of alghero

We were lucky to spend 3 nights at La Margherita hotel where we had a totally relaxing break. The staff were absolutely lovely (especially Sara), and couldn't do enough for us. Yes the rooms are fairly basic, but the fantastic location to the old town and the the sea, and the lovely spa pool in the basement definitely were a draw. We had one day of poor weather and they kept the spa pool open all day as a result. So many lovely local restaurants nearby to try. We will be going back as soon as possible. Thank you so much for making us so welcome!

We had a very pleasant and reasonably priced stay at this hotel. The Front desk staff showed us a couple of rooms and the pool and terrace we decided to stay here. Breakfast is offered and they had paid parking the front desk lady also mentioned that parking in "white" lined areas was free 24x7.

We were in room 416 and enjoyed our view of the sea and town. The Roof Terrace is cool and had great degree views. The place is showing a little of its age, but heck we didn't pay for the Ritz and we had a great location, good service, a comfortable room, decent towels, bed, and a delicious breakfast. The place was very clean as well.

The same front desk lady made reservations for us at a restaurant and was helpful in so many ways. Not to mention a ready smile and winning attitude. Am sure the rest of the staff is of similar capability and attitude. Making you feel welcome does make a difference.

Room Tip: Go look at the room or ask for one that is on the 4th floor.

We wanted somewhere near the old town centre, but which was accessible by car - this was perfect, though I imagine parking in the high season would probably be difficult. But in October, this place was easy to find, and it was easy to park in the street. Good place for a short break, and even though it poured with rain for two days, this was close enough to the shops, cafes and sites to run for cover as necessary. Loved the rooftop breakfast panorama, even in the lashing rain when it was blowing a gale. One day the sun came out and we spent the afternoon at the hotel's private beach about 1.5 miles away - a bonus.

Room Tip: Get one on the fourth floor at the front, to have a sea view.

5 minutes walk from the centro storico. Close to shops and sea-front. No outdoor pool, but there is a sun-terrace and a beautiful, warm indoor spa pool which more than makes up for it. Most times, I had the whole spa to myself (it was October). The spa pool is open 10:30 to 13:30 then 16:30 to 21:30. You can book treatments at extra-cost. I had a blissful hour long massage for 60 euros. Don't bother taking your own robe and slippers - they'll lone you a big, fluffy robe and slippers for a total of 4 euros for the whole week. Room was clean and comfortable - I'd booked a single, but it was a king size bed and I actually got a small bath rather than just a shower. Strange hairdryer is provided in the bathroom, but I took my own. Plenty of sockets for charging mobile etc. No kettle in room (as is typical in Italy). Staff very friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms at front have a balcony overlooking busy street - nice to people watch, but morning traffic ca...

The hotel is in the perfect position to allow easy walking to the old town and marina - it is comfortable with all that is required of a modern hotel, clean and tidy. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. My front room had a balcony for relaxing and the rooftop terrace allows views over the town to the sea and great sunsets. The breakfasts (on the terrace) are all that the traveller requires, setting you up for the days exploration. If required a relaxing swim, and jauzzi can be had in the spa. a very relaxing, comfortable and pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are on the road but do have a balcony -
