“Very well maintained hotel in beautiful situation. Excellent food, too!”
Reviewed 2 May 2013

This is a beautifully situated hotel, right on the sea with view on a large bay and the 'skyline' of Alghero in the far distance. The hotel is sparklingly clean. My room had regular size by US standards, large by European. Free internet in room, lobby and terrace! There is a flatscreen TV in the room with satellite reception (I think; I just switched it on once and flipped through the channels but then never used it). There is a pool which looks very nice but it was too cool (for me) to swim, in early May. The hotel rents various boats, sail and pedalo which I have not tried (yet).

We have full board and the food is excellent! All meals are served buffet-style, with a rich assortment of great antipasti (lots of seafood but also other stuff). I barely touch the main course after that; it is very good, too, but I just like the variety of the antipasti. Wine (a decent local red) and mineral water is included with lunch and dinner.

The staff is unobtrusive and friendly.

I read the comment about the horrible music. No idea what happened there. It must have come from the hotel itself since there is nothing for a mile or two in the surroundings, except two houses a few hundred feet away that look residential (and empty; maybe vacation homes?) and a beach bar, mabye 500 yards away. There was absolutely no music outside the bar area, and that was either some guest playing the grand piano there, or some 'smooth jazz' type bar music. I doubt that either of these could be heard in any of the rooms.

I can't comment on the spa since I did not use it, nor on the value since someone pre-paid the bill for me and I never saw the bill (business trip).

All in all, a great place!

We would like share our amazing time we had with Dei Pini's staff which were top level professional people. They gave us more than expected.
The hotel is situated in the most amazing spot of Alghero - you get to eat with an amazing view of the sea and on the beach in 2 mins so after breakfast you can jump in.
Our kids adored the place - the staff were great with kids. We got to enjoy the beach in the morning and the pool in the after. The pool is situated on the other side of the hotel which gives another amazing view of the sea. Great place to relax with your huby while the kids play in the pool - or build sand castle. This is a real holiday for the parents and the kids..
Very important: VERY CLEAN - ROOMS ARE VERY GOOD TOO that helps.
Our kids said that St Martin and Alghero was equal in our top list i.e holidays!
If you get the time to get a "masage" do it. Thanks Rita.
Thanks again to VINCENT - CLAUDIA - ROMINA and the team!!!
WE WILL COME BACK!

This was our first stay although we have visited family staying at this hotel before (with some difficulty as staff seem very touchy about guests having visitors on the beach). Our hotel room was clean and comfortable and our baby seemed to sleep well in the crib provided. We loved waking up early in our sea-view room to the gentle sounds of the waves rolling onto the private beach.

Unfortunately, this is quickly replaced by the booming noise of disco/techno music during breakfast. It gets worse at night when they have live karaoke/cover style singing, making it impossible to at least enjoy our room balcony after settling our baby to sleep for the evening as we could hear this awful caterwauling coming from the dining area as soon as we opened the doors. We could even hear the singing on one of our nights out, visiting family staying nearby. Pity the locals that have to hear it all year long!

The lighter fare and salads are fresh, and it is lovely to dine in the bar restaurant perched on the beach. The staff always offered to make food especially for our baby and would even prepare it outside of regular meal times upon request.

Although it is disappointing to no longer have the tennis courts with their amazing view of the sea, the new pool area is wonderful, with a lifeguard present during all open times. The fitness facility with two machines is tiny the spa reception area dated and seems more of an afterthought, but the nearby ping-pong table can be fun, and with the pool and beach so enjoyable we didn't miss these components.

All in all, our 5 nights at this hotel will be memorable because our baby loved the beach, the pool, and her diet was well-taken care of by staff. Our double sea view room was, if a bit small, of a good standard with a clean and decently-sized washroom (no bath), and mini-fridge. Yes, the marketing of the hotel as family-friendly seems out of sorts with the incessant loud/techno music in the dining areas - I would expect that out of a young singles vacation spot - and detracts from what could otherwise be an elegant and peaceful ambiance. However, the hotel seemed to have an endless source of high-chairs, and as evidenced by the number of strollers parked in the lobby, seems to be having some success with families!

I highly recommend this hotel for families with small children. Hotel is situated just a few metres from the Sea with the beatiful beach and swimming pool. The photos of the hotel are realistic. The food at the hotel's restaurant was delicious and fresh every day.The rooms were very clean. The atmosphere at all was very relaxing. The people who work there were extremally helpful. We will definetly come back to his hotel

The hotel has a quiet location, directly on a private beach. Rooms on sea side have a balcony with breathtaking view of Alghero Bay and the beach. It was beautiful to sit on the terrase with a glass of wine in the evening and watch the sea.

Room Tip: sea side in higher floors with beautiful view

We decided to stay at Dei Pini after a lot of research, as it seemed like good quality at a reasonable price from looking at the reviews, we wanted somewhere outside the town centre so that we could relax away from the hustle & bustle but still get into town if we wanted to. We knew we would need a hire car anyway, and it's a must if you want to explore the local area. The hotel was a good base, but, I think due to the season it was very quiet, although this did mean we got upgraded to a sea view room, which was lovely as you could hear the waves to send you to sleep and wake you up. The rooms were clean and tidy and all you really needed, the breakfast was standard continental buffet but plenty to keep us going for most of the day. We didn't spend much time on the hotel's beach as we wanted to see as much as we could away from the hotel, ditto the pool, but as I said, if you don't have a hire car you'd struggle to get away from the hotel as the public transport seems to be basically non-existent and the hotel is about a 20min drive from Alghero centre. But I can't fault the hotel or staff, and the I'd definitely go back to Alghero, or Sardinia in general.

Room Tip: go for the sea view if you can, it really made our stay that bit more special.

Booked to stay here after searching for ages. Tried to book directly with the hotel and reservation agents were poor at best. Gave me prices for a 7 day stay which was 220 euro more than on their website. Booked in Aug for Oct and 6 days before flying I got an email to say they were booking me out. I didnt want to be booked out and they just said they had too because of an event. I insisted and then they changed their story that they were closing. Well why take booking if you are closing, I had a hotel confirmation for my booking and it was all pre paid. Very very dissappointed and annoyed. They offered no compensation at all, when I asked them they just said you have to go there - have they heard of hospitality. Never again will I book with them.

Room Tip: book some place else as they will only book you out at the last minute.

Dear Guest, we really regret that you could not stay at our hotel and therefore that you are not able to value our services. When you took contact with us to book your room, you were advised that our hotel could anticipate the end of the season and that, in this case, you could be relocated in an other hotel with same facilities as our. And so happened.
We never charged your credit card and there were no price difference between the price communicated on the phone and the price on our booking engine. The only difference you probably mean, was the sea view supplement, that we gave you free of charge and that also the other hotel which welcomed you, guaranteed.
