“Not great...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2013

We booked here as we wanted a 4 start hotel near the beach, I'm not sure who awarded this hotel 4 stars, It's a 3 star if that!!
Reception staff are rude and un-interested and fail to tell you thae restaurant is full when you enquire. The swimming pool is small and doesn't have enough loungers, make sure you get up early!! When we checked out and asked about a shower etc before leaving for the airport we were told to shower outdoors in this rusty, dirty shower in full view of the people using the pool.

Also, our apartment was down the road from the hotel reception, pool and restaurant etc. If you wanted somthing from your room you had to go out of the hotel and walk down the road.

All in all, this hotel is pretty poor and was only salvaged by the room being ok, I will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel!!!

I can recommend you this hotel. There are two buildings. The first building is the hotel, reception and swimming pool. The second building is the apparthotel with the flats. We have lived there in the time of our holiday in very nice flat. You can use the pool and poolbar, if you stay in apparthotel. The supermarket is opposite the hotel. A lot of restaurants and bars are around the hotel. You can walk 20 minutes to the old town too and you can have a meal or drinks in some beautiful pizzeria or tavern.
The hotel´s staff is very friendly and the service is perfect. The problem is only on the later check-out with the shower.
There is just 150 m to the beach. You can spend a part of your holiday at the swimming pool too.

It´s a clean hotel with helpful staff,
Wifi available only in the lobby (3 euro for 2 hours?).
It´s located one block from the beach and some of the rooms have ocean view.
The Maria Pia beach is about 10 walk and the old town about 20 min.
The pool isn´t very big but quite OK. 1,55 m deep with a divided section for small kids.
If you have a room with kitchenette you have to buy (or bring) dish soap and a brush.
Safety box in the room.
A supermarket is just across the street.
Taxi from the airport is about 20-22 euro. There is an airport bus 300 m from the hotel.
Two sundbeds and one parasol cost 14-20 euro on the beach, It´s a good thing to buy a parasol in the supermarket for 6 euro.

Why? Please read the following:

The Beach:
You can’t stay at the beach close to the Hotel. It smells so awful, like sewer.
We have booked this 4 Stars Hotel just because it is close to the beach and I wouldn’t have to rent a car to go to any other beach then the one at walking distance from the Hotel. In the end, I had to rent a car and taxi for 4 days to go to other beaches that were not close to the hotel. I have 4 kids and as you can imagine not easy to find a seven seats car, so we had to hire 2 different cars. When asked the Director of the Hotel, Mrs Claudia [--] she acknowledge that the smell at the beach is very annoying and the clients who stay at this hotel all go to faraway beaches. As you can imagine we had to pay for 4 days extra transportation just to be at a decent beach.

Service / Staff
1) Although our agency promised that have contacted the hotel to confirm that our rooms would be close together. At arrival, we witness that the rooms couldn’t be more far from each other.
2) We stayed with all included. Every morning we chose what to eat at lunch and at dinner. One day, we knew that we would be a bit late for lunch and we called-in the reception (15 minutes before closing), so that the restaurant could put on the table everything we have ordered in the morning. Instead, and despite the fact that we have called to announce our 6 minutes late arrival, Mrs Anna, at the reception, was against us to be served!!! Besides us, our problem was the 5 kids who were starving. When I forced my way in the restaurant, finally, they have served us watermelon and melon as the only thing they had (although we have ordered the lunch in the morning).

Of course once I spoke with the Director of the Hotel (half an hour later), Mrs Claudia [--], she immediately recognize the big mistake and ordered the Kitchen to serve us (although she didn’t appologize). This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

The Breakfast:
No fresh fruits at the buffet, only fruits from the can. After we complained we started to have watermelon and melon (better than nothing)

At the swimming pool:
The swimming pool is too small at the high season. The lifeguard/buoy in charge is awful, he never smiled to anyone during the 6 days we were there, only showing his frowning face and criticizing children (not to jump, not to make too much noise, etc.). Maybe he didn’t smile because he was supposed to be focused on his job (watch out for clients safety) but then it doesn’t make sense that he spent so much time looking at his cell phone… By the way, we had to pay for the towels every day we wanted new ones, this shouldn’t be the case for a 4 Star Hotel at the beach.

Internet access :
We had to pay for this! And you can only have access at the lobby, nowhere else (and even sometimes did not work). This is not a 4 stars Hotel standard, for sure.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment for four which had sea view from balcony. The apartment was cleaned every day and our bed linen changed twice during the week. The pool was very clean and of adequate size.

We were able to book a triple room at the last minute and were very happy with our one night overstay here. About a 20 min walk from the old town centre, but it's a nice coastal walk.
Buffet breakfast is very good.

Poor/scruffy location. Quite a walk into the old town. We stayed in a studio apartment with a noisy fridge and the worst view from a balcony I have ever seen. Definitely not recommended and not considered by us to be value for money. The only positive was a nice inside/outside bar area. And....expect to be woken up around 7am by bottle deliveries and towel cages being moved around.....not what you want on holiday!
