“Super hotel !!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2011

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment and my father had a single room in the hotel. The apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean. The maid service was excellent. The pool at the apartments was excellent and the lifeguard was very efficient. We really felt that our kids 5 and 7 were so safe. He was very professional but very pleasant too. He kept the pool area immaculate also.
The decor of the hotel is a little dated but having stayed in other parts of Italy I have found this to be quite common. My father said breakfast was good. Fresh breads and fruit and also bacon and eggs !. The pool at the hotel was a little more dated than the one for the apartments with fewer sun loungers but more deck chairs. There are also 2 jacuzzis at this pool.
The beach is straight across the road. Over the sand dunes you find a fabulous safe beach. 2 sunbeds and an umbrella cost €15 (a bit pricey).
There is a really lovely restaurant 5 min walk from the hotel called The Pegoda, great Italian food in a garden setting but a little pricey.
We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as it was only buffet which didn't appeal to us. But the poolside restuarant was great during the day. It even served pizza and roast chickens which you could takeaway back to the apartment.
The biggest problem with this hotel is the distance from the old town. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT WALK TO IT !!. We walked for 45 mins one day and still hadn't reached it. It's not even a pleasant walk mainly passing residential properties and hospitals etc. Bus service is unreliable so you will definately need to factor in the cost of taxis into your budget. It costs €12-€15 into town one way. There is a carnival and concerts and plenty to see once there so definately worth it.
Overall our 10 day stay was superb so I would highly recommend it.

We stayed in one of the apartments in early July. The hotel is located in a quiet area and is a pleasent 30 min walk to the old town where there is a great choice of good restaurants and shops. It has 2 large pools which were meticulously maintained with plenty of room for everyone. There is a generous buffet in the hotel each evening costing €22 and it also has a pizzeria and a small shop. The apartments are of reasonable standard, nothing great, and they are not well soundproofed but as they are used mostly by families there is no late night noise and the worst that can happen is that you will be woken early by small children in an adjoining unit. A big minus however is the policy of charging for internet access.
If you visit Alghero be sure to rent a car as there are some fabulous beaches both north and south of the town that are well worth a visit. There is a beach just across from the hotel that is fine for families with young children.

Hotel: basic as you would expect for 3* hotel. Food nice and tasty but only a few choices and not a broad range of vegetables/salads/fresh fruit. breakfast - cakes, bread rolls, basic cereals, then hot bacon, tomatoe and egg choices. Only really bananas, apples and occasionally kiwis for fresh fruit. Tea/Coffee etc. out of machine. Juice - diluted from machine, not fresh. All nice enough though.

Room - stayed in hotel (there are also apartments). Very basic and quite small, I was on my own but would be a squeeze with two people and two suitcases to fit in! Bathroom OK with nice big shower. Maid service daily. Balcony can either overlook road/courtyard are or pool.

Two nice big pools, and smaller kiddies pools. Deckchairs and sunbeds but not many to go around.

Location - about 10 mins drive from airport. Lots of frequent buses that go from hotel between Alghero old town and another little town called Fertilla. Hotel itself is located literally across a road from the beach which is nice, although was very crowded (July see's start of Italian hol season so lots of locals on the beach!).

Old town is nice, picturesque with lots of narrow cobbled streets, various shops ranging from more expensive clothing stores, to touristy tack. Various cafes, bars, restaurants around the old town although didn't eat out much as was half board at hotel.

Lovely, basic location for a week. Hotel entertainment poor - one guy Mon-Fri playing a keyboard and singing songs!! Better to grab a cab into the old town (approx 12 Euro). More of a calmer resort, lots of lively cafe's etc. but didn't see many clubs/bars where they played music/dancing etc.
No pool side entertainmen program.

In summary, good location, near the airport, near the beach and within walking distance of old town. Food nice but range/choice limited. Have stayed in 4/5* cheaper but Sardinia does seem to be slightly more expensive. Staff friendly and speak good English - out of the hotel English speaking is much more limited so take an Italian phrase book!

Had a great week at the Oasis - friendly staff, good food, nice quiet pool area and clean comfortable rooms. No, it's not the ritz and it does look dated but it's good value for money and perfect for a relaxing break. Particularly nice bar staff.

After overcoming initial difficulties in making our reservation, everything went quite smoothly here. We had a basic room, with balcony, nice bathroom and shower, I found the cleaning standard to be very good day to day. We had a room facing onto the car park, a room on the pool side could be nicer, so is worth requesting. We were there off season so a lot of restaurants nearby were closed. Food in the restaurant in the Oasis was limited to a buffet and wasn't really very attractive, but then again if you go into Alghero (about a 25 minute walk) there's plenty of options. The location is out of town, but this means it is close to less crowded beaches, there's a beautiful beach just across the road.

My one complaint is similar to my complaint about nearly every Italian Hotel, the breakfast. There was an extremely rude woman in charge of breakfast, she barked at me and ordered me to sit at a particular table. The orange juice wasn't good, the coffee ok (from an automatic machine), the usual cold meats were available which I could not have for breakfast, there were sausages, bacon and scrambled egg, but all practically inedible, finally the Italian staple, dry sugary cakes. Very little fruit, a few plums & kiwis if I remember correctly. If possible best get a rate with no breakfast and go to "La Playa" 5 minutes down the road for an authentic cappuccino and a croissant for about €2.

The Oasis has a beautiful pool, kiddies pool, there's mini-golf, table tennis, bikes can be rented (in-season), It won a Hotel award in 1986 and I'd honestly say it hasn't changed much since then, but is a perfectly nice hotel for a family break.

I did enquire about WiFi access, but instead of most hotels which will give you a daily pass, this place offers 30mins, 1hr or 2 hours access, I forget the price, but it was too expensive, especially for such a short duration I didn't go for it.
