“Comfortable, clean and good value for money”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We stayed in a deluxe room with a sea view.

The room:
- Clean, modern, bright, enormous balcony
- Bed was large and comfortable
- Bathroom was modern and nicely presented
- Cupboard space was reasonable, but not large
- TV was equipped with Italian SKY, which was ok, but most of the channels e.g. for films were pay per view. Sky News and BBC World Service were available.
- Wifi in the room was very bad - one of only a few draw backs. The system requires you to access the internet by logging in through one of your social media platforms e.g. twitter, instagram or facebook, which is slightly annoying if you don't want your information to be accessed by a computer system that you don't know much about. When you're online, the wifi coverage was limited to the area near the door, and wouldn't work in/near the bathroom or on the balcony. Furthermore, every time I returned to the hotel, it required me to enter all my details again. The wifi system needs to be improved.

The rest of the hotel:
- breakfast was included, and it was very acceptable: nice fruit, fresh croissants, the coffee machine was good but there should probably be another one as there is often a queue.
- the reception is nice and open and there is a computer to use for free

Staff:
- Staff at the reception tended to be helpful and friendly, though I got the impression, at times, that we were bothering them with questions, even though they usually gave good and helpful answers.
- Cleaning and breakfast room staff were friendly

Pool:
- the pool is lovely, and has a great view of Alghero. The deckchairs are comfortable and there is ample space on the balcony for sunbathing. This was one of the best elements of the hotel, though we only spent one afternoon on the pool terrace, because we wanted to enjoy the vast array of beaches that North East Sardinia has to offer.

Car rental and parking:
- We rented a car (Fiat Panda - which you see all over town) from a rental place on the corner of Via Lido for a reasonable price (£120 for two days including cover) but were surprised to be told by the hotel that it cost €15 to park a car not rented from the hotel, in the hotel's grounds. That was a surprise. Fortunately, there is free parking in the road parallel to the Via Lido - any of the white boxes.

Alghero:
- The old town is very pretty, but quite touristy.
- Visit The Kings restaurant in the old city, which is the second best restaurant on trip advisor in Alghero, and has a fantastic ambiance, great food, and reasonable prices. Book at least a day in advance!
- Beaches: take a trip (1 hour by car) to Stintino beach in the north, which is absolutely beautiful - clear blue water and white sand - though sunbeds are extremely expensive at all the private beaches! (€15 each for the day!). Also, drive about half an hour away to La Spiaggia di Porto Ferro, which requires you to park in a nature reserve and walk about 20 minutes to get to a secluded and beautiful beach, which feels like a secluded beach in the middle of the Med.

Overall:
- The alma di Alghero is excellent value for money and is very comfortable, modern, friendly and clean.
- We cannot complain about any aspect of it. It is not absolute luxury, but it is well above average, and sits at around the low 4* range, by English standards, which is why I've rated it "very good" (4/5) but not "excellent" (5/5)
- I would recommend it for couples
- I would also suggest that renting a car (book in advance if you can) and going on day trips is essential, if you want to make the most of your stay.
- This hotel is probably one of a kind in Alghero in terms of modernity and comfort, so it is recommended for a stay that won't bust your wallet, but will give you a week of relaxation.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms have the largest balconies in the hotel.

The hotel was a real surprise. We stayed at the deluxe room so very refurbished and was very clean, and a joy to stay at. Excellent value for money. The staff were excellent and very helpful with lots of recommendations for restaurants or for things to do in the area.
Breakfast was fantastic, they even baked their own croissants in the breakfast room. The swimming pool on the rooftop was also very clean although we didn't end up swimming there as we stayed only 1 night at the hotel.
The old town is a good half hour walk from the htoel but very nice on the promenade and to walk off the dinner!
Wi-fi didn't work for us so that would be the only thing that we found disappointing.

Room Tip: Make sure you are staying in the deluxe (refurbed rooms).

We´ve spent one week in hotel Alma di Alghero and our stay was fantastic. The hotel is not in the front line but the views from our room (401) were amazing. My daughter and a friend stayed at room 202 (deluxe as well) but the views were not as good as ours.
We liked: The staff (thank you Carla, Simona and the rest of the staff for making our stay pleasant, for helping us to know Sardinia a little bit better and for making the reservations in the restaurants), breakfast (fresh products, always refilled, no files, delicious croissants, mozzarella, cheese and fruit, very proffessional and active staff), the basket with fruit every morning in our rooms, cleanness, spacious rooms, the views from the swimming pool, isolation (you hear nothing in your room!!), the location and the free wifi.
Everybody in the hotel welcomes you and makes you feel like at home.
The hotel offered us to rent the car with them and we did not regret: The cheapest and best insurance compared with the rest of the offers. And you pay zero for the parking. We opted for a Nissan Juke. The car is painted with the hotel logo and email address. We did not mind, but it is better to know in case you think to rent a car with them.
We disliked: Nothing.

Room Tip: Room 401 is the best: Views, decoration, balcony and space. Probably room 301 is also good. Rooms 40...

Me and my famlily (wife and 2 kids 6,9 y.o.) stayed at this hotel during 2:nd week of August.
My overall impression is really good. The hotel was in excellent shape, close to the beach(<100m) and the staff was very welcoming and service minded. The cleaning ladies was really effective and the room was "brand new" after every cleaning session.
Not a long walk to the second beach(Maria Pia) and not a long walk to the centre of the old town.

I have been spendning a lot of months during the years in hotels with my work and this was one of my better experieneces. A nice "family" hotel. The bar was none existent but that doesnt matter since the street bar is 200m away. Also close to the supermarket. A nice pool at the roof which could have had its light on until 10 a clock but it was OK anyways :)

If you are looking for a clean hotel in a good location with friendly attitude where everyone says hello and dont act so snobby then go for this. Dont miss to book a room with a balcony with sea view !

This hotel looks good but everything is about to break any moment. And we lived in the newly built rooms. The first floors is older than floor 3&4.We got in and were happy, everything looks good... but during the first day we found a lot of broken things. The toiletseat was loose. The toilet roll holder was loose. There were spots in the celling from water damage, The shower leak. The AC was really loud. AND when you turned it off there was a crazy noise from the breakfast room. We stayed in room 404. DO NOT STAY THERE. the room is next to the breakfast room and there was noise around the clock from what we think is a fridge, a loud fridge! We complained about it but didnt get any response! The pool area on the celling was good but the pool didnt feel that clean. This hotel is ok but its to expensive fot that quality. and if your going there make sure to go before the hotel falls totally apart. The staff in the reception was not helpful. (the cleaning ladies and breakfast staff were nice) We will not go back. Otherwise Alghero is a really nice place! and its close to many good beaches! La pelosa is a must see!!

Room Tip: do not stay in 404. And watch out for rooms in floor 1,2!!

We lived here for 7 days and had a wonderful time. The.hotel is 100 meterfrom the beach. Our room was nice and it was good space for four persons.
Nice staff at the reception who speak good English.
Algeria is a nice place to spend the vacation and this hotel is one of the best if you like living near the beach. The pool is at the fifth floor with a nice view of Alghero.

Stayed here for two weeks last month. We were in one of the deluxe rooms which, while not huge, was nicely decorated and well equipped. Daily delivery of fresh fruit is a nice touch. Balcony was good, although this hotel is not directly on the seafront. It sits behind another building, so view to sea is limited. Also, Sardinia can be windy, so sitting on the balcony was not always a comfortable experience. As a long stay quest, we found the breakfast a bit monotonous after a while. This hotel is trying to move from three stars to four and has done that in terms of the deluxe rooms, but the breakfast isn't quite there yet. The addition of brown bread, good yoghurt and a better selection of cheeses and meats would help greatly. The coffee was good and the view from the breakfast room fantastic, when the weather behaves, which is didn't when we were there unfortunately. The pool area was lovely and very useful on those days when the weather couldn't decide what it wanted to do. In term of noise, the hotel is generally nice and quiet, except for the heavy closing doors. There must have been a group of guests there for a few days who were going in and out of each others rooms and slamming the doors at all hours of the day and night. The location of this hotel is good, just far enough from the centre so it was quiet, but near enough to stroll into town in the evening. I did think the room was a little overpriced, but then Alghero is not a particular cheap destination. The nearness of the airport and cheap flights, did help the overall cost of the holiday. I found the staff efficient and pleasant most of the time, but did have one minor issue. We booked the courtesy room so we could change before we left for our flight home (I witnessed the time of booking being written down). When we were leaving our bags, I mentioned that we had the courtesy room booked, but was told that it was not booked for us and that I must have misunderstood! I was a little taken aback that the fault was placed with me. The problem was easily remedied, but a simple apology would have been better than accusing the customer of making a mistake. This left us with a bad last impression rather than a good one which is a pity and so four stars rather than five. .

Room Tip: You have a better chance of a view in the higher rooms. The deluxe rooms are good, but I wouldn'...
