Small but very friendly hotel close to the beach and not far from historic centre (500 m) and its night life, restaurants and cafes. Transport from the airport very easy - 1€ fare bus stops 50m away. Once in the hotel - clean, spacious rooms, tasty breakfast with cappuccino, Everybody was icredibly friendly, helpful and obliging. We recommend it 100%.

Room Tip: I asked for a room with the view when booking

Simpel tourist hotel. The rooms are ok, but the beds very hard. Italian breakfast with several type of breads and coffee. No living room to stay in for the family. No place to sit outdoor in the sun. A very short distance to the beach promenade and bike and car hire. Not much to do in Alghero in March. All tourist attractions were closed.

Not very luxurious, but exactly what you need. Very clean, comfortable beds, private bathroom.
The location is very quiet and within comfortable walking distance to the town centre. Just one block away from the public beach, and one block away from the airport bus.
Very friendly staff who provided us with the very best information about good restaurants and pizzerias.
The breakfast was simple but good, and the freshly made juices and coffee were excellent.
What made our stay advance from very good to perfect was the little nice extra services.
We'll be back!

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is 3-star, it is new and well maintained. It's about 600 metres to Alghero's old town and it makes for a nice walk. We found our room to be well-equipped, with a large bathroom, good shower, shampoos, hair-dryer, window, and new towels each day. Breakfast consisted of cereal, croissants, and fantastic italian coffee. The breakfast area was spotless, as was all of the hotel. Immaculately kept. The staff were at all times friendly and helpful.
We did find our room a bit cold and it has tile floors - obviously more suited to summer breaks. It has air conditioning which can act as a heater.
We caught the local bus back to the airport, 1 euro per person.
All in all, very happy.

Hotel Alguer, a gem in Alghero:

At first glance Hotel Alguer might strike you as an average little family run hotel located in a little side street. Well it is, but as soon as I entered it and was given a genuinely warm welcome by the staff I knew I had made the perfect choice and had found my little gem in Alghero.

This 12 room establishment is well positioned, 2 blocks from Lido San Giovanni Beach, one block walking distance to two large supermarkets, and approximately 30 min. walking distance to Alghero’s historical centre full of shops, sights, and restaurants.
The rooms are quiet, spacious and spotlessly clean. The décor is contemporary with rooms of warm reds or turquoise, the beds are comfortable and their large balconies are equipped with tables and chairs ideal for relaxing and enjoying a nice summer breeze.

Their daily breakfast is something to look forward to, if you like me adore freshly squeezed juice you’ll feel like you’re in heaven because they had four different types to choose from.
Sardinian chocolate pastries were plentiful and so were biscuits, jams, cereals, fresh breads, cheeses, and yogurt. My morning treat was a foamy cappuccino, a fancy pastry and some friendly conversation with the owner of what excursions to take and what sights to see.

I had a superb 10 day stay at the Hotel Alguer. The owner Giancarlo, Lory and Pier Mario contributed to making my stay in Sardegna unforgettable. Their professionalism, warmth and friendly manners should be an example to all. I already miss the charm of Alghero, the splendour of Sardegna, and the Hotel Alguer.
But no worries, I will return and visit them again very soon!

We stayed here for 1 night prior to returning to UK. We had mixed feelings about this hotel. The room somehow was not welcoming and we would not have enjoyed a long stay.
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful - free wifi - free parking - very clean - good value - shops and beach close by - easy walk into town - sky tv - close to airport - pretty garden area
Cons: Area felt a bit 'rough' - very hard beds - very poor soundproofing - room odd design and felt cramped - balcony off corner of room and no view or sun

We spent 7 nights at this hotel recently. We have stayed in 3*, 4* and 5* hotels in the past, but this hotel has something, none of the others had - a genuinely helpful, friendly host. From the moment we arrived there, in the early afternoon, we were greeted with a smile, shown to our room (not just handed the key to the door and left figure things out for ourselves). The workings of the remote controls for both the T.V. and air conditioning were also explained to us. Of course, we would have figured these things out for ourselves, but the fact that somebody took the time to make us feel at home, was what really mattered to us. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, spacious compared to any other 3* accommodation we have stayed at and is well equipped. The shower was excellent with decent water pressure, with the usual toiletries provided, good quality towels that were replaced as required. We don't always get a good sleep when we are away from our own home, but at Hotel Alguer, the bed was very comfortable as also, were the pillows. We didn't need to use the Air Conditioning, but it would be very necessary during the warmer weather. There was a safety deposit box in our wardrobe and there was no separate charge for using this. We had a view of the Prominatory across the bay and of the headland on the opposite side, from our room and balcony.
The Hotel is in a very convenient location. It is on a quiet side street, with on-street parking. It's a three minute walk to to beach across the main road, two minutes to either of two large supermarkets and about a 15 minute walk to the "Old town", along a spacious paved promenade. The majority of the nicer restaurants are located in the "Old town" and it truly is an old town, with narrow cobbled streets, clothes lines of laundry hanging out and lots of local folk chatting and going about their business. Equally, it is about a 15 minute walk from Hotel Alguer, to a gorgeous white beach called "Maria Pia", which is fringed with Pine trees, Eucalyptus trees, Myrtle bushes - an absolutely gorgeous place, where you smell the Pine and Eucalyptus as soon as you step into the woods. There were a few "Sea Daffodils" still blooming also.
Breakfast was self service, except for certain types of coffee, which were made to order, cappuccino, espresso, etc. I feel that Italian folk have very "sweet teeth" indeed, and this was reflected in the food on offer for breakfast. There were pastries, biscuits, bread, jams, juices, soft cheese, yoghurt, cereals and a variety of teas and coffees available, which was certainly adequate to start our day off.
We were given advice on anything we asked for - places to eat, boat trips, etc. The bus stop from the airport is about 30 metres from the door of the hotel, directly across from the "Billa Superstore". When we asked about the times of the buses, prior to our departure, we were also given free bus tickets, as well as the timetable. There was even a weighing scales at the reception desk, for weighing luggage.
We always felt safe and relaxed while out and about around Alghero, whether walking in the woods or down the narrow streets at night - something we both value considerably and not always the ambiance in holiday destinations.
To sum up: A hotel in a great location, where the little things were given consideration to, which ticked every box , but most of all, the best service we have received at any hotel we have ever stayed at.
