“Superb location, very poor quality”
Reviewed 8 August 2013 via mobile

The hotel is located below lovely pine trees, directly over the very beautiful bay of Porte Conde. It has a large swimming pool, a tennis court, a diving club and even a synthetic football playground. Sounds attractive ? It should. Unfortunately, the hotel has a vast collection of cons, which makes it a poor choice overall, especially for the high price asked (well over 200 euros per night in August):

- there is almost no air conditioning. I know it sounds hilarious for a 4 stars hotel, but during our 3 days there, temperature could not go below 28 degrees in our two rooms. This is not an accident: their system is just not calibrated for the august heat. Their technician even tried the silly argument that '28 degrees is a good temperature for sleeping' (sic). On top of it, they switch it off betwen 2am and 2 pm (?!), officially to limit energy use so as to protect environment ( a real joke, condidering said electricity comes anyway from a plant which is hundred miles away)
- the room are very basic, despite a recent refurbishing
- the room maintenance is also looking for savings: we got soap and shampoo on the first day. Nothing at all for the two other nights...
- the quality of the products served for the breakfast, with the usual exception in Italy of coffee) is very poor: elastic bread, tasteless croissant, a few bad looking fruits...
- do not expect enjoying quietly the scenery during the day: you'll be bothered by a noisy, cheap and painful animation shouting stupidities in a microphone ( and sometimes at night up to 23.30)
- last but not least, every single item is overpriced. A coca coka ? 4 euros. A bad super small sandwich ? 8 euros. Walk 25 metres on the left on the beach to the hotel next door and you will pay the same items 2 and 4 euros respectively ( except of course that their 4 euros sandwich tastes better than the 8 euros one of corte rosada)

Conclusion: a nice scenery is not everything. They ruin it by the very poor quality of the service.

I stayed there in July with my wife and child. The hotel is fantastic with all amenities within a stones throw of each other.....pool, beach, soccer court. Therefore, I go along with the majority and rate this hotel highly.
For me the dive centre was excellent and I would recommend it. Meet at the dive centre at 9am and be back from the dive at 11am. Perfect. Well done to the owner Sandro Chessa and staff for five great dives.

I stayed here with two friends in July 2013 for 4 nights. The hotel was in a lovely setting, great views of the bay. There were comfy bean bags in the garden area to laze about on if you didn't want to get sandy on the private beach. The pool was big and clean. The food (we stayed half board) was excellent, varied and good at catering for allergies. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend the pina coladas! We went on a boat and snorkelling trip on the last day which was also brilliant and good value for money. All in all a fantastic hotel, lovely holiday and would definitely recommend it to others.

I was on a group holiday with friends, we went half board. Upon mentioning to the staff that I was a celiac sufferer (celiaca) I was amazingly catered for at both breakfast and dinner (we ate enough that we did not need lunch *blushes*)

Breakfast I got brought my own selection of bread, toast and cake (all of which were gluten free) I could eat everything from all the buffet breakfast tables BAR the bread & pastries, but with my own selection I missed out on nothing.

Dinner wise *all* of the starter dishes (of which there were plently) I could eat (each night the waiter would check with the chef just to be sure) I could have some of (so did ^_^) And then, I was given an extra option main wise (because often none or only one of the main choices were celiac friendly) which was gluten free pasta in a tomatoe sauce & STEAK! Noms ^_^ I also had a gluten free desert made for me on two night (when I had room)

I was extremely impressed with this service, for never has my food allergy been so well catered for with such a choice of what I could eat ^_^

The staff were all always smiling and happy to help.

The weather was stunning, the hotel was beautiful and the air con made sleeping at night so so comfortable.

All round an amazing stay.

Oh, and the snorkling trip is definatly worth the moneyy - so amaxzing again ^_^

Room Tip: I was on a ground floor room, and it was not at all noisey/too hot. I have no experience of other ro...

The hotel is nicely located with a pretty beach and a pool. The rooms are small, but clean. Our room was a sea view double room, located on the first floor (none of the 1st floor rooms have a balcony). The breakfast was included in the price (breads, cereals, eggs, bacon. cheese, ham, pastries, jam, honey etc.). What I was missing was the vegetables.
The lunch and dinner is served as a buffet. It costs 25 Euros per person. We had the dinner once and thought it wasn't worth 25 Euros. Would like to see displayed names of the meals, so it's easier to tell what you're about to eat, especially when most of the staff doesn't speak English.
The drinks at the bar are expensive, however the male bartender was amazing! Great service! We ordered once a lunch at the bar: salad Caprese and a burger with fries. The 'salad' was literally a sliced tomato on one side of the plate and the sliced mozzarella on the other side with 2 leaves of basil in the middle... NO olive oil or anything else for that matter... 12 Euros. The burger was served without bread...
There is a very nice small restaurant 5 minutes walk from the hotel (when you get to the main road turn right and keep walking about 5 minutes).
The taxi from the airport is 30 Euros. The taxi to Alghero is between 25-30 Euros. There is a bus which stops 200 meters away from the hotel (across the Porto Conte hotel; look for a small bench, no actual signs for a bus stop).
If you get a voucher for a complimentary drinks at the bar, be aware! We handed the voucher to the young waitress, who was working the bar that day. We ordered the drinks, which were promptly served. Later we were charged 21 Euros... Apparently only specific drinks are considered as complimentary. I can't really understand why nobody mentioned that.
