Owner description: Walk along the floor of this 223-foot deep lava canyon - a narrow, scenically spectacular gorge carved out of the rock by a fast-flowing stream.

We took the bus at 9:15 from Taormina bus station. About one hour ride and 3 Euro ticket. We then took the free entrance and walked down the steps. Beautiful rock formations and water. However, you will probably spend maximum of 30 minutes there. If going by bus, problem is that the next bus back to Taormina is at 12:30. So we explored some fields nearby and had a picnic lunch under some trees. Return journey also took about 1 hour. Over all nice little trip, provided you don't expect too much from it.

Came as part of an trip. After a long day the top part was disappointing with graffiti on the cactus, uneven pathways, steep walkways but good views. Took the lift down to the river but pathway was roped off and you could not continue without going through deep water. The views were very impressive.

A must visit, you were these heavy duty wellington boots with braces around waist to hold them up as you will be immersed in knee high of cold mountain water.. a great excursion/visit. Guide was brilliant, very helpful and assisted us through the more rocky rough routes through the gorge. Lush, green, refreshing and full of lovely plants and lemon trees too.

Its such an amazing place, that it should be missed by anyone visiting Sicily. Park your car in the parking and give them a minimal donation, but then avoid paying 9 euros per person at all costs.. it is not worth it since right up the road there is the free entrance. There are loads of stairs to go down, so i wouldnt suggest it for for grandparents. But down there is simply amazing.. the water is refreshing and cold and we even contined our way down down along the flowing water. not to be missed :)

rammed, boys with whistles in carpark asking for "donations", hideous canteen. disgusting toilets. By all means go down to the gorge via the free entrance but do it off season or very early in the day..
