we booked this hotel by the reviews of other people that had stayed here, firstly it is not easy to get too, alot of one way streets and no entry signs. the hotel itself isn't bad, although cleaning of the rooms could be alot better, the old part of the hotel had a set of drawers with one key to open each drawer, after being moved, we had a room with no safe and no drawers just a small wardrobe for two people for two weeks - this was not good. The food is over priced and the combination of menu's are often mismatched...think they could make alot more of the restaurant area, both from its atmosphere and the menu; not alot of travellers seem to eat there, although there are NO restaurants within walking distance and Catania town centre is very unsafe for travellers. Scooter riders and car drivers follow NO rules of the road, nor does anyone leaving the vehicle, 'just open door' and step out regardless that a car is passing by. This would truly be a nice hotel with a few adjustments, better cleaners, better menu and more storage for luggage, if it was lifted and placed in another part of Sicily, although with the amount of rubbish that is about this Island I would find it hard to imagine there would be any space to build anything, most of the buildings in Catania, residential wise are extremely poor, seems to be alot of poverty and the Sicilians certainly do not seem as friendly as mainland Italians OR anywhere else I have been in the world. They seem to be destroying many natural and manmade views and buildings, yet again with Mount Etna, we seen a fridge dumped in one of the craters, it just amazes me that people on this Island dont realise that they are destroying their country!!!! Will never return!!!! Final point, many visitors to this hotel only seemed to stay a few nights ------------ that was maybe the point I missed when booking for a fortnight.
