Hotel Regina Margherita
Ranked #39 of 49 Hotels in Catania

Me and my girlfriend have been in Catania in July and stayed at this hotel located in the heart of Catania, with clean and very nice rooms at an incredible price for the summer. the place is run by two extremely friendly guys, Gabriele and Daniele, whom have been incredibly amazing from the day we arrived until the very moment we left. They have been extremely helpful and accommodating, always ready to give you the info you needed at the time you requested it. they were serving a good breakfast with a big smile on their face all the time. the rooms were always clean, properly air conditioned, quite spacious and also with plenty of storage for the luggage.
the location of the hotel is perfect as it is in the heart of Catania, just off the Via Etnea, 500m form the Piazza Duomo and the market behind it, and if you are taking a bus from the airport, do not worry about finding the hotel, the bus will stop 20m from the hotel entrance.
We also spend quite a bit of time talking to Gabriele and Daniele not only to request info, but also sharing some stories form both sides. We remember the stories of Gabriele and his short stay in London, and the way they were both alway trying to make us feel at ease, and all of our request have always been followed by prompt, genuine, kind accommodating action.
I would strongly recommend this hotel to everyone as it has been a great experience for both of us
Peppe and Erika (the camomile lady) from London.

Room Tip: try to get a room not facing Viale Regina Margherita or Via Etnea as these are the main roads.

Hotel Regina Margerita is a very nice hotel with warm welcome. Wide smiling and helpful staff. Room is big, quiet room with very comfortable bed, clean, with big bathroom. Very good free wifi. Good location, it is only 15 minutes by foot to Central station or the same distance to the very center of historical part of Catania. The bus from the airport and train station stops just around the corner from the hotel. The breakfast buffet provided a typical breakfast with cereals, cakes, biscuits, cornetto, juice and a coffee machine and everything was in plentiful supply. Overall the experience was very good and I would definitely stay at the Regina Margerita again and would recommend also to others.

Only a few minutes walk to the city center (via Etnea). The room was clean and nicely decorated. Ours had a small balcony. When we came back to our hotel in the evening though, have to admit that we were unable to open all the big doors and to finally get to the hotel. We were lucky that some other guests arrived shortly after us and their son was able to open them! The breakfast was disappointing and the coffee machine did not work.

The Hotel is located almost perfectly in the city, on hte junction between Via Etnea and Viale Regina Margerita. Situated at the top of the main shopping street and only a few minutes walk from the botanical gardens you are not very far away from the main sites in Catania. The bus from the airport and trainstation stops just around the corner from the hotel so you are only a couple of minutes walk away from the hotel itself.

Upon arriving at the hotel you are greeted by a huge wooden door opening into the courtyard where the hotel can be found at the end. After taking the rather old fashioned elevator up you are welcomed into a bright and clean reception where you are greeted with a warm and friendly smile. Gildo, the owner, gave us a map of the city and highlighted the major attractions that we should see during our short stay.

The room we had was excellently presented, very clean (espcially the bathroom) and well equipped (with a mosquito repeller which we later learnt was a necessity!) and a great balcony looking out over the Via Etnea. The only drawback to this, as expected, is that the main street isnt exactly the quietest with the chaotic traffic that never seems to let up. We were also unfortunate enough to be treated to very ammateur singer in the bar around the corner who's voice would carry into the night. This is to be expected though in the bustling city where I dont think its posisble to strike to a compromice between being central and enjoying a quiet evening.

The breakfast buffet provided a typical breakfast with cereals, cakes, buscuits, juice and a coffee machine and everything was in plentiful supply.

Overall the experience was very good and I would definately stay at the Regina Margerta again and would reccomend also to others.
