Recommended length of visit: <1 hour
Owner description: It’s possible to visit some amazing areas of the Benedictine cloistered Convent, the ruins of a roman domus recently found in its subsoil, the Church of Saint Benedict and its entrance: the stairs of the Angels. All this represents one of the most important baroque monumental complex. The tour includes the Macs – Museum of Contemporary Art of Sicily - located in the Convent ‘s little abbey.

“Well preserved church”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Beautiful church as a sample of the Sicilian Baroque. 5 Euro to visit - but worth it. The outside and the doors are impressive.

“Baroque Churches at their best”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

This area of Catania is well worth a visit. It is a concentration of old Baroque Churches of incredible stature. Find out the opening times as often these churches are closed at some times of the day

“What restauration can do to a place”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

We just discovered this church by chance, and because of the signs that were outside, sayng that it had just recently been reopened after restauration. It is a beautiful barroque church and worth stepping into it. The restauration work is very nicely done, and you get an audio guide (included in the price) to go around.
One important piece of information: if you need a toilette that's not the place to go - they share the toilettes with the Museum of Contemporary Art, across the street.

“impressive”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

The church of the monastry San Benedetto is definetly a place not to be missed when touring Catania. Even though there is little marketing done for the church, it is very impressive to see the wall/ceiling paintings, which are "all over the church".
Also the paintings have been recently restaurated, so that they are really colourful. As hardly any tourist has this church on the agenda, we had the place all to ourselves, when we were visiting. It's worth the entry fee.

“A little Versaille in Catania”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

The monastery of the Benedictine sisters and the Church of San Benedict are a peaceful and tranquil place to visit, with a very friendly and expert staff. The jewel on the crown is the 18 century church, with its frescos and paintings, the magnificent pipe organ and the silence that sorrounds it. A visit not to miss if you are in the area. The cost is 5 EUR per person with an audio guide.
