Dear Madame,
thank you very much for spending a little bit of your time to provide us your positive feedback on TripAdvisor. We read every review with interest as it represents a source of useful information which helps us to monitor our services performance and quality.

We are really glad that you appreciated the Etnea Roof terrace, our glamour location, where in fact, you can enjoy an amazing view and delicious services, such as our happy hour every day from 07:30pm to 10:30 pm, but also a tasty lunch or dinner and even a special Sicilian breakfast with typical and fresh sweet and savoury delights.

We look forward to having you here again in the near future, as from our centrally located hotel you can easy reach the other tourist goals in Sicily.

Very best regards,
Rita Monfrini

This hotel offers a modern design in the guest rooms with an interesting style, not what you would expect in this city. The Front Desk staff were very helpful with information and advice on local attractions. The rooftop patio bar/restaurant has a good view of Etna and until it gets dark, I would recommend it for a drink and an appetizer. At night, DO NOT sit outside on the patio unless you want to be blinded by garden-style floodlights!! Note to management: You have a nicely decorated patio, good appetizers and friendly staff - why don't you install some appropriate lighting to maintain the mood after dark? Moving on, the breakfast buffet is good with a fresh orange squeezer for juice. The location is well placed for shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: If you are driving to the hotel, spend some time in advance with a map as the front entrance is on a...

I was staying at Una Palace for 5 nights. The location is perfect as right in the middle of Via Etnea which is the main street for shops and sights. Breakfast was included and was good. All the pastries and naughty stuff you could imagine, Cereal, fruit (although not much fresh...), cheese, meats, Boiled eggs, fresh coffee etc. Definitely good value. Hotel was very clean and modern.

Staff were very helpful with everything !! Always smiling and happy to answer questions

Bad points - Gym and Internet. Gym was terrible. No free weights, mats or balls. Only 3 pieces of equipment - 2 bikes and a treadmill. The multigym was out of order. They really need to add some weights and other gym stuff. I ended up going for a run around Bellini Park which is just up the road. Its not big but you can certainly knock out 3-4 miles doing some laps. Also ran on Sunday morning at 7am so the roads were quieter so ran down Via Etnea.

Internet - not included. 2 computers in the foyer which you had to pay for. HOWEVER, I only used on my final day and they did give me a free login without me asking but only one of the computers would work & it was slow.

So if you are a gym rat or want to be glued to an ipad etc not great.

Went up to the rooftop on the first day but not after. Was very nice up there with good views.

BTW no tea/coffee in the rooms. This is an Italian thing apparently vs the hotel not providing.

I would recommend Una Palace

Room Tip: I was on the 6th floor in room 618. Was nice as it had an outside area - not a balcony, more like a...

Dear guest,

first of all we would like to thank you for spending your precious time to review our hotel hence living all readers a good source of information. We are very happy you appreciated our location, right in the heart of the city centre, also hotel cleanness and furniture, and last but not least kindness and professionalism of our staff who is always ready to fulfil all guests needs.

We understand you were fully satisfied about your stay, and we are flattered about it. On the other hand we are sorry you experienced some difficulties with our gym because of the multigym. We regret to inform you that this machine, in particular, has been broken and it is out of order until we will receive the replaced piece we ordered to fix it. Moreover I would like to specify that unfortunately we do not have enough space in the gym in order to add more gym machines. We try to maximise space with generally more used gym machines in order to fulfil general needs.

As per internet connection, in our hotel this depends on room type: we offer, in fact, a 1h free for Classic standard room while all inclusive (wi-fi and Minibar) in all other room type.

All things considered, we invite you to come here again in order to give us the opportunity to fulfil more and more your expectations and please do not hesitate to contact us for any additional info you may need and why not suggesting our special packages and offers including additional benefits and services.

Very best regards

Stayed for seven nights in this hotel and enjoyed a very warm welcome and great service. The reception staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. The rooftop bar is a fantastic place to get views of Etna and the 10 euro buffet including a drink was very good, although the plate could be a bit bigger to save so many return visits! The breakfasts were very good and there was plenty of choice of hot and cold food, including some delicious fruit slices. We had an Executive room which gave us a balcony and a side view of Etna, but unfortunately no space to sit out, just stand. This room also gave us free unlimited Wi-Fi but rather annoyingly I had to obtain a new password every few days. The rooms with only interior views looked out onto a rather stark courtyard so the extra for the Executive room is worth it. As previous contributors have stated the location is perfect and only 10 minutes walk to the Duomo. The Villa Bellini gardens nearby are worth taking the time to walk round and they are quite extensive.

Room Tip: Get an Executive room with a side view of Etna on the 5th floor.

This wonderful hotel is located right in the center of the shopping district. Every place we went to was within walking distance with many great restaurants close by. Staff members were all very helpful and friendly and most spoke English very fluently.

The only fault we could say for the hotel was the shower drained very slowly, but that would be nitpicking at details. Given our short stay we did not let management know about this at the time but I'm sure they would have fixed it for us if we did.

Room Tip: Worth paying the little extra for breakfast and wifi.

While our time here was very brief--one night, we would definitely stay here on future trips. Staff was outstanding and location could not have been more central. Parking was made easy (staff did it for us) and because of the recommendation of the staff, we ate at probably one of the best pizza restaurants ever, on Via San Filomena. Also, the room was very hip and grand.

We stayed here for a week for our first visit to Sicily.

Perhaps a week was too long in Catania but we didn’t want to drive and bus services from Catania allowed us day trips to Taormina and Syracuse plus an excursion to Etna. So not bad for a taster.

Now getting to the hotel…

We arrived and were swiftly checked in and provided the key to the room (an executive suite). We walked in and immediate impression was it was a little dated. Nothing really major although seeing an old CRT TV (as opposed to flat screen) and wear and tear on furnishings etc. I had asked for a quiet room and the room was exactly that. However, on pulling back the curtain the view was awful. Given we were staying for a week we agreed that we didn’t want to look at an ugly the rooftop of some other building. We asked to move to another room with a better view. The hotel was fully booked but they agreed to move us the next day. The staff were professional and polite in dealing with this request.

The next day I asked to see the room before we moved. We were duly shown the room that overlooked the main street (with a small balcony) and also told that there would be noise from the street so if we wanted a quiet stay we were probably better off staying where we were. After some debate between us we decided to move to this new room.

Yes there was noise but to be honest we were out of the room for virtually the whole day and the street quietened down at night but it’s definitely not silent, so expect some noise. Note, that although it’s on the main street there is no traffic outside as there are restrictions for that part of the street. You’ll hear some cars, buses, emergency vehicles etc.

The room itself was laid out differently to the first room we had – this one had a separate shower and dressing area but not a separate living area like the first room. As I said we preferred it.
Now the niggles, again there is wear and tear, the shower screen didn’t fully close leaving a half inch gap at the bottom of the doors. The carpet was extremely dirty – we requested slippers. It was definitely in need of a super deep clean but better still, fully replaced.
The beds are very hard, but we got used to it.

In terms of facilities, the selection for breakfast was fine, however some improvements can be made. When ordering tea I had to specifically as for a pot of hot water and would have to walk over to the buffet for tea bags and milk – I was never given a small jug of milk. The fruit selection wasn’t great. Fresh pineapple, fresh cherries, prunes and canned pears. I would have expected to see fresh berries, peaches, watermelon which were available in abundance in the markets. Hot food consisted of scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. We tried to order omelette but were hit with a language problem so not sure if this would have been available if we had overcome that. Cappuccino, espresso were offered when seating us. On the plus side there was an amazing selection of pastries.

We didn’t eat at the restaurant for dinner, menu options looked good but very pricey. We did use the bar a number of times – for 10 EUR you could have a drink and limitless arancini – great idea. The staff were always pleasant, polite and helpful. There were some vegetarian aranchini items too so I didn’t end up with just a plate of olives. And as mentioned in all the other reviews the views from there are great.

Internet access was slow - this could be down to their regional networks and not the fault of the hotel. The room we had included unlimited access but we did have keep requesting passwords which expired after 3 days (and sometimes didn't seem to work). But the computer linked to the printer needs its system date updated!! Beware this may cause you issues when trying to do online check-ins or anything else reliant on the system date.

The gym was functional, but could use a swiss ball, some small free weights and exercise mats to make it much better.

In all it’s a hotel I’d use again. But there is room for improvement so I can’t give it 5 stars.

Dear Sir and ,
thank you for having dedicated some of your precious time to provide your detailed review on Tripadvisor, sharing your enjoyable stay with the other travellers and also allowing us to monitor our services’ quality and why not improve if it is necessary.

We have already taken note of your opinion and we were pleased that you pointed out some elements that you did not feel were up to our high standards, especially, concerning the temporary disclosure of the shower screen and the carpet in the your chosen changed room after your room move, possible even during our high occupancy as per your incoming preference of an Executive room with balcony on the main Etnea street, because we do our best to take care of you.

However, we would like to dot the i's and cross the t's on the fact that, our rooms’ carpet are constantly cleaned with special and specific treatments, but of course probably we agreed with you that consumption also due both to the constant cleaning activity and the delicate but elegant white colour may play an important role in that room so that its replacement as per your kind suggestion is already in the planning.

Thank you also for expressing us you breakfast tastes, so that, for example our continental buffet breakfast is very rich in variety with sweet and savoury delights, like fresh and stewed fruit, brioches, cakes, bread, ham, cheese, tomatoes, yogurt, etc.. but if you would like also to taste typical Sicilian delights and savoury specialities, such as the original Arancino, cannolo with ricotta cheese, or sliced seasonal fruit, baked ricotta, we have the Etnea Roof breakfast at the panoramic terrace, where additionally from a menu à la carte you can taste indeed, and only with a little supplement, these delicious delicacies prepared at the moment by our chef the cuisine.

Your comment gives us the opportunity to continue to improve us in order to make sure that your expectations are more and more satisfied the next time you are staying with us.

Warmest regards,

Rita Monfrini
