“A bad experience”

1. We had booked it via Lastminute and the day before our arrival we called twice to the B&B and were told that, although they had received an email from Lastminute, the B&B was fully booked and we couldn't stay there. Once at the B&B we didn't have any problem and we realized that, at least during the first two days, we were the only lodgers.

2. Although we had asked for a double bed we had a double room with one single bed and one small collapsible bed

3. The used WC paper couldn't be thrown to the WC (should be thrown to the bin). We forgot it only once and after flushing the dirty water of the WC seeped in through the shower's waistpipe. That evening, when we arrived to the B&B, we found a threatening note saying "Pagati i dani" (Pay for the damages!"). However, the WC was working normally (see the picture).

4. Breakfast was included in the price but the coffee was dispensed by one of those machines that are usually placed in offices and public buildings (not really coffee).

5. The drainpipe of the air conditioning ended in the shower's ceiling and the water fell through a big hole causing a constant leakage (see the picture) Therefore you could hear the leakage's noise if you had the AC on during the night

6. We barely could use the advertised Wi-Fi because the girl who was at the B&B switched it off whenever she left the building

The hotel is conveniently located in Via Roma, Palermo, about 5 minutes walk from the train station. It is in a building shared b yspecialists and professionals. The hotel is on the 3rd floor accessed by an ancient elevator/lift. There is no full-time reception, even in daylight hours, the "hotel" is locked securely. So arriving at 2.30 pm a client must wait somewhere else until 6pm when a reception person appears. The hotel is clean enough, and the room is comfortable with a clean ensuite bathroom, shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin.
The so-called "breakfast" is the most miserable offering I have ever had in any European hotel; dry pre-packaged toast andpre-packaged sweet bread rolls. Hot and cold drinkscome from a dispensing machine into thin disposable plastic drink cups. Some fresh fruit is offered in a bowl. No-one is in attendance for breakfast, just help yourself.

At the second floor of a building on Via Roma, the Nobila Casa Roma is a very affordable accommodation (39 eur/night for a single) conveniently located within walking distance from the train and bus station (even carrying luggage) and very close to the city center (5 min to Quatro Quanti, 15 min to Capella Palatina, 15 min to Palazzo Abatelis). And, of course, for the shopalcoholics, via Roma is one of the main commercial streets of Palermo.
I stayed there 6 nights, from December 23 to December 29, 2009. The room was very spacious (it would have been so even with a double bed). Furniture was simple, but not hotel standard but various old pieces that gave the room an air of 1900 glamour. It has heating, which was convenient for the winter. Also, as a nice touch, a bath-robe was provided. I did not have breakfast there, but coffee, water and a basket of fruits were available always in the lobby, which served also as breakfast room. A refrigerator was also available in the lobby for all guests. There was someone at the reception desk every morning, but after lunch guests have to use the keys to enter the building and the guesthouse. Maps are available in the lobby in case there is no one to give information.
It's not luxury but it's comfortable, quite cheap and the location was excellent. I would return there any time.
