Firstly, I have to disagree with the previous review (Elizabeth), We stayed in Palermo at the Potra Felice for 5 nights and found the city to be full of intrigue, culture, history and vibrancy. Yes, from the outside the buildings do look unkempt but clearly this is not the case on the inside...Any door you saw open had elegant and elaborate interiors....Palermo is simply a very old city and different in culture. The hotel is stylish and immaculate, the balconies which open onto the main street are framed by beautiful fully working shutters and full length French doors. Palermo is a wonderful city which reminded me of Rome....The driving is crazy, the food beautiful and the variety of things to do in West Sicily is amazing....beautiful beaches, Greek Temples, ancient churches adorned with gold and amazing restaurants/cafes every step of the way.
Our room was large and comfortable, fresh linen, marble bathroom and quality complimentary toiletries
....Our departure was early on our final day and the hotel were more than happy to arrange an early breakfast for us (my only negative point is the slow service in clearing tables)

after struggling to find the hotel (walking from central station with suitcase) and being concerned at the poverty of the immediate area, the hotel & rooms were a pleasant surprise. I was on the 3rd floor with balcony (no chairs tho)& a rooftop view; the second floor rooms looked at a blank wall! no one could work the tvs or aircon without help. staff were initially remote but thawed as time went on. the restaurant on top floor has an opening roof & good views. v good food there, but service is not their strong point, surprisingly! overall ok,but Palermo is a dump, crime ridden & dirty!

Room Tip: top/3rd floor!

This is a decent hotel located near city center and marina. Nice rooms and breakfast. Free Parking is available on the side streets. WiFi was a nightmare as it did not work our entire stay. Every time we asked the staff they said it would be fixed in 2 hours - this was very frustrating and annoying.

Gentile Cliente,

we are here for 4 nights and everything is as expected. the rooms are modern and clean - albiet with some Italian influences that value design over function.

very good value for money and a really good breakfast.

As a recently retired couple, we found the hotel, an ideal base to explore this fascinating city.

Nowhere is perfect - every one arrives with different expectations, but for us the combination of location, size, facilities, style, air of calm, decor, huge bed & outstanding friendliness / helpfulness of all the staff, more than made up for some of the trivial faults, that could be bigger issues for some people.

How many hotels are civilised enough to spread breakfast from 07.00 to 11.00 & offer it in a light & airy contemporary setting, with views across the rooftops to the surrounding hills?

For the size of the hotel, we found the breakfast selection of food / drinks, etc, very good.

Attentive (but unobtrusive) waiting staff keep the stocks replenished, so no matter how late you eat - you always have the same selection, (not just what has been picked over.)

We ate in the hotel one night & the food quality was very good.

Our spacious second floor room, had loads of character - a huge ceiling, the huge bed (previously mentioned,) huge shuttered double glazed to a mock balcony facing onto the narrow street. We also had a large tiled & marble bathroom, with modern shower & fixtures.

The room & all towels & bed linen, etc, were spotlessly clean.

Although the street that the hotel is on, in not a major one, it can still get noisy & on 2-nights, were were woken, in the very early hours by the "bin men" who make no concession for the time of night!

The bed was on the firm side, but the pillows were exceedingly soft!

Noemie (sorry if the spelling is wrong,) was the receptionist, on duty for most of our stay & she cheerfully sorted us out regarding room matters, bookings & general advice, all in faultless English.

We also took advantage of using the Wellness Club for a one hour package (costing 15 euro each)

We had sole use of the Sauna, Jacuzzi, Steam room, 'emotional shower' experience & relaxation area, which was a" different" and enjoyable experience, in a very calm relaxed atmosphere. Yet again the staff were helpful and friendly. We found it good value after a day's walking around the sights.

As stated at the start - the hotel is not perfect, but we thought it was a gem & ideally complimented our 4-day City break.

This was my first time in Palermo I stayed here with my Mum on a short Easter Break and I couldn't be more satisfied with my choice of hotel. The staff here couldn't be more helpful so I would like to say a special thanks to the receptionists and also the restaurant staff who were amazing.

The room was clean, tidy and modern. The location of the hotel at the edge of the old town was made it easy to see all the main sites of Palermo. If I was to come to Sicily again I would definitely stay here again.

Thanks

My husband and I occupied a very spacious suite, with a top quality bed and ditto sheets, and an excellent bathroom. The breakfast, served on the top (and 4th floor) was outstanding. We found the reception staff somewhat abrupt - they seemed harried. We were bothered by a pervasive sewer smell in our suite, which much have come from the drains in the bathroom, probably due to the location in the old quarter, but unpleasant nonetheless. The wifi was not working on the entire floor for the 3 days we spent there, and we had to sit in the corridor to catch the signal from the floor above. The same was true for my son, who stayed in the room next to ours. He reported the Wellness Center exceptional.

Room Tip: Check for sewer smell in rooms 208 and 209 and ask whether internet access has improved

Dear Guest,
we thanks you for the review dedicated to our hotel.
I'm very sorry to hear your negative impression about the reception staff; usually they are very friendly and helpful with all the guests as you can read in other reviews !
As regards the wi-fi connection, as already said during your stay, there was a temporary problem with the connection switch and for this reason, to excuse us, we also allocate you in a Suite as upgrade.
Even so, I excuse me again for this inconvenience and I sincerely thanks you for your choice.
Best regards
