“Beautiful place, helpful host”
Reviewed 6 May 2012

I stayed here with my family, from our 80-year old parents to our 5 year old son. We were all very comfortable and we truly enjoyed our three nights at Novecento. The rooms are furnished with lovely old real-wood furniture (nice new mattresses, though!), some have a private balcony, and the bathrooms are brand new (although all baths are private, some are not in-room: you'll have to cross a hallway). There is a breakfast room with a large dining table for all guests which in the morning is filled with all sort of bounty: freshly squeezed orange juice and tarts and home-made yogurt and all sort of yummy things. At least some of it is organic, if not all.
Dario was a gracious host, giving us tips about the sights as well as how to navigate Palermo (which can be a tough city). Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There is a room with both a private balcony and private bathroom, which is lovely.

My friend and I started our Sicilian adventure by staying for two nights at this gem, very easy to find close to the airport bus that terminates at the station. Dario is a wonderful host, supplying us with a map and writing on it places to visit. Our room had a balcony with a glimpse of the sea, over a quiet street where we found parking spaces for our hired car and had a wonderful painted frieze around the ceiling. When the hired car would not start and our own efforts did not bring any help, Dario contacted the correct department and watched until the repair man arrived! His breakfasts were wonderful, the best we had in Sicily!

Thoroughly enjoyed our three nights here. The B&B is on the 5th floor, but there is an elevator. The B&B was always quiet, even though it is centrally located within Palermo. We were close to the market, train station, restaurants and shops.
Our bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. We had our own private bath outside the room, which was not a problem. It too was large, clean and had all the amenities.
Our host, Dario, was very informative and always willing to go the extra mile - making calls for train schedules and the like. He provides an awesome breakfast - lots of coffee or tea, blood orange juice which is heavenly, as well as other juices, always a couple of cakes, also cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and a variety of bread/rolls. We would definitely stay here again. It was a great start to our trip around Sicily.
Thank you Dario.

We were an extended family of 5 traveling through Sicily and we began our adventure at the B&B Novecento. We were pleased to get a warm welcome, lots of helpful information and good beds to crash in after an all-night plane ride. The bedrooms are large, high-ceilinged and nicely furnished. It was very quiet up on the 5th floor even though the rooms faced out onto a main street. Each bedroom has its own bathroom but they are located across the hall. This didn't bother us and we were happy with nice towels and a warm bathroom. Breakfast was served in a large, sunny dining room with lots of choices of breads and fruits. Dario was very helpful and accommodating and even let us sleep in until 11:00 when the jet lag hit. We had a car and it was tricky to find a place to put it that was safe, but we were finally able to find some on-street parking that worked. You don't need a car in Palermo, we walked everywhere and enjoyed the beauty and history of the city. The B&B is very centrally located.

We had a delightful stay at B&B Novecento. It's in the heart of Palermo, a few blocks from the train station. Dario was a wonderful host; he even contacted the municipal office of my grandparents' hometown to find out how I could obtain information. Great breakfasts, nice bathrooms, a great play to stay!

Room Tip: THe first room on the left had a great view.

We stayed three nights. Our room is large and has a beautiful decoration. The bathroom is separated from our room, but very near it. The private bathroom is clean. Breakfast is substantial. Fresh juice, hand-made cake is very delicious! The B&B is near the station of Palermo, a good location for tourists. The host, Dario is friendly, helpful and courteous. We made a comfortable stay in this B&B. I will book this B&B when I visit Palermo again.

We stayed at B&B Novecento for four nights in December 2011, and we couldn't have been happier with our room or with the service provided by Dario. This is a very well run, well maintained B&B and I recommend it highly. It is excellent value -- the least expensive and one of the nicest B&Bs on our three-week trip.

The room was large and nicely decorated with a mix of antiques and a few contemporary flourishes. Because the B&B is on the 5th floor, there was little street noise after 10PM. We were not disturbed by noise at all.

As noted in other reviews below, our private bathroom was just down the hall from our room. It wasn't a problem for us. The bathroom was small, but well maintained and spotless.

The location couldn't be better, with the Ballaro market just a few blocks away and the fascinating, densely historic centre of Palmero in every direction. All the sites of Palermo are within walking distance. There is good shopping and great people watching during the evening passeggieta along Via Roma and Via Maqueda. Dario gave us great tips for exploring the city. He is passionate about Palermo and knows just how unique it is. You won't go wrong taking his advice.

Breakfast was excellent with the Italian array of pastries, tarts, fruit and nutella supplemented by truly mindblowing persimmons, fresh organic yogurt and home-baked dark bread. Coffee was on constant flow from the table side espresso machine.

Dario is very kind, considerate and personable. His English is excellent, and he gave us beyond-the-call service by helping us with a car rental and with our next B&B booking.

We will definitely come back to gorgeous Palermo (there is so much to see -- 4 nights was not enough). We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
