“Great location, excellent service.”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

We stayed at the novocento for 4 nights. The breakfast was good, the location was excellent (a stones throw from the central station where you get dropped off from the airport and very near the wonderful Ballaro market).

The owner, Dario is extremely kind and helpful; he even helped us map out our three week road trip around Sicily (even including the names and phone numbers of recommended places to stay).

The only downside was the fact that our private bathroom was down the hall and not in our (ocean view) room, but this was really not an issue for us.

We got a room here for 55 Euros a night. The location is great. We saved 10 Euros by settling for a private bathroom down the hall, which wasn't inconvenient at all. The place is perfectly clean and attractive. It's like staying in someone's very lovely old building apartment. We even had a little balcony from which we could see the mountains up north. The wardrobe does have some kind of weird old wood smell that made us not want to use it, but there was plenty of space elsewhere in the room.

Breakfast is perfectly fine, good amount of food and variety, nice fresh fruit.

Dario, the owner, is endlessly considerate and correttissimo. Plenty of helpful advice, including good eating places, sights to see, parking, etc. There's a bit less owner presence at this B&B than we're used to - and that might be an issue for some travelers - but it ended up posing no convenience at all for us.

The location is excellent. All the places we wanted to visit were in easy walking distance.

Room Tip: We stayed in Number 4, which had a nice little balcony, private bathroom just for us right down the...

We spent several nights here in April. Very central location within walking distance of train and bus stations. Lovely room with balcony. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Best of all is Dario, a great host who was very informative and considerate. Highly recommended.

We stayed four nights at B&B Novecento in March. Our room is large and clean and it have a balcony with a good view. A window is wide, but the room is very still when the window is shut. A bathroom is outside our room. We didn't fell that was inconvenient because the bathroom is very close by our room. For breakfast many things were prepared. Home-made cakes, cookies and bread, freash fruits, nuts, yogurt, coffee, fresh orange juice…. All is delicious! The guests from various countries sit down at the same table for breakfast. We enjoyed communication with some tourists. The owner Dario is gentle and friendly. He gave accurate advice about our question. He always speaks with a smile and smile…. Recommended B&B, this is!! Che ottimo!!

We stayed at the NoveCento B&B in Palermo for two nights. Communication and booking was an easy and simple process, undertaken online and via email with Dario, the owner. Upon arrival in Palermo, we travelled from the airport by bus to the central station. Novecento is just a short walk up Via Roma. The location is excellent. On a main throughfare of the city, close to the train and bus stations, with easy access to the different parts of the city. Upon arrival, Dario took us into our large, spacious, well furnished room. It was quite a dark room, but this is to be expected when you stay in a gorgeous, old, traditional Sicilian building. The bathroom was across the hall and was always exceptionally clean and well stocked. Dario ensures that there are toiletries in the bathroom (fabulous for us, because we travelled only with hand luggage). Breakfast was incredible: home made breads, cakes, yogurt - delicious! Self service coffee which was also excellent! Dario provides guests with a map and talks you through the areas, attractions and makes recommendations of where to eat/visit. He also helped us with local city bus tickets when we wanted to visit Monreale on a Sunday. On a side note: Do beware, that when visiting Palermo, Sunday is pretty much closedown day! We couldn't get a bus to Monreale and many of the attractions were closed after midday. Having said that, Palermo is an amazing city architecturally and it's great to wander around admiring all of the interesting buildings and styles. Changing money is also impossible, unless you meet kind people in your B&B! Novecento is excellent: we will definitely return when we revisit Palermo in the future.

All the positives you've read in the reviews are true. We stayed for several nights while we explored Palermo. The rooms are generous, the beds comfortable, and the breakfast delicious -- including cakes, bread, and yogurt home-made by Dario, who is also unstintingly helpful and generous with travel advice, restaurant bookings and more. The location is very convenient, because it is both in the centre of the old city and just a few minutes from the railway station and the bus stop where the airport bus comes in. For me, another important plus was the very reliable broadband wi-fi. I can't imagine a better B&B experience.

Was referred to this B&B because another Trip Advisor high scorer was booked out. Novocento is excellent. As other reviewers have said, the star is the host, Dario. He is so helpful, friendly and I would say completely trustworthy. As a local he is encylopedic about the town and he listens carefully so he helps you plan to fit what you want into a short time. To me such local contact is more important than some of the things people go on about on Trip Advisor, but having said that the accommodation was good too. Clean, quiet and with a good breakfast. Yes the bathroom is a couple of paces away across the corridor, but each room has it's own, for which you get a key, so you can leave your wash stuff in it. We parked in a nearby street which was unofficially policed by an old man who politely requested a few euros for keeping an eye on it. We had read about this odd procedure, but it worked for us, and he was certainly vigilant as he spotted us instantly on return two days later! The B&B is on the fifth floor of a large 1920's block like so many others on the Via Roma. The street entrance is not impressive, and the elevator is one of those scary looking cages, but all the mechanics of it looked sound to me and we used it when we were feeling lazy! Once inside the Novocento everything is clean and fresh and secure. We followed Dario's recommendation for an economical place to eat nearby. It was the best food and the best value we had all week in Sicily. You will have to stay at the Novocento to find the name!
