Great place for a stay in Palermo - close to everything and real value for money. Extremely serviceminded host and staff. They helped with reservations and tips to avoid waste of time. Can only recommend this small, but truely excellent B&B.

A really lovely little place. The building itself is stunning and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The location is perfect and the service excellent.

My boyfriend booked this place on-line so we didn't know exactly what to expect. We stayed in a lot of places in Sicily but this was by far one of our favorites. The guy at the hotel told us all the best places to visit but also the best places to eat. The breakfast was a good standard for Italy. They were really welcoming and friendly and we would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful place almost in the centre of Palermo, with most highlights on walking distance.
The owner personally makes your very nice and healthy breakfast in the morning,
he also put a lot of effort in individually decorating all guest rooms, which feel very welcoming, and all have good beds (also important). In the central hall there is a lot of literature available about places to visit, but you may prefer personal advice, which is also given in a professional way.
This is an outstanding host, that will make you feel welcome in this old Sicilian city.
One of the best places we found during our trip in the first week of November visiting Sicily for the first time, we will return here in the near future for sure.

Room Tip: Have a look on the website of Porta di Castro, and decide which room you prefer, they're all nic...

Stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. Compared to some other places we stayed in Sicily it was also really good value for money. Alessandro is a fantastic host and will find you somewhere to park - not easy - as well as recommending some great restaurants and places to see. He made us feel at home straight away.

The location is a short walk from the heart of the old town and the bedrooms were spacious with everything you need including free wifi. Ours had a balcony so you could open the doors and listen to the sounds of the city - mainly men shouting at each other and people tooting their bike or car horns.

The Sunday market was a short walk down the road, and we never felt too far away from any of the sites. If you're in Palermo on Saturday, you've got to check out the weekend gathering off Via Roma - hundreds of people hanging around on small side streets drinking cheap beer, eating some good and weird food, and dancing to music. Awesome experience.

Breakfast was good and Alessandro was around to make sure you've ate plenty before taking on the city. When travelling round Sicily, it really helps if you've got good counsel and we were in safe hands with Alessandro. We were also big fans of the decor and quirky paintings of rather large women that adorned our bedroom walls.

Stayed at B&B Porta di Castro for 2 nights while visiting Palermo with my family. The room of 4 was very nice and had everything that was needed. The location is central. The breakfast was very good. But the best was the hospitality of everyone at Porta di Castro. Even though we were completely foreign to Palermo, we felt at home. Thank you Alessandro to your and our team. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We went on a family trip to Italy this summer and decided to stop in Palermo for a couple of days. We stayed and B&B Porta Di Castro and it was a great experience. It was 5 of us that stayed there for a night. The service was very good and the place was really clean and had everything you needed. Alessandro was very helpful and hospitable. He welcomed us early in the morning, offered us breakfast and directed us to our rooms. We would definitely go back there if we are back in Palermo. We highly recommend it to anyone that's planning a trip to Palermo. You won't be disappointed when you leave.

this B&B is an intersection between the modern & ancient. Allesandro has done a wonderful job preserving the medieval walls and facades while adding his own design element. Think byzantine sculpture next to a flat screen tv.

Pros:
-- Very nice host. He promptly brought us some snacks and coffee/refreshments when we checked in at 2 pm; he didn't need to.
-- Breakfast was great with paninis, fruit, fresh cappucino, croissants. We got to try 'pistachio nutella' croissant made w pistachio cream instead of usual chocolate hazelnut.
--Location is near Barrolo area; immigrant community from South Asia and Africa have moved in here. 10 mins away, at night, there are bars and gets boisterous, but the b&b is quite and serene. It is not a wealthy area, which is on the other side of town. At the same time, I didn't think our safety was compromised. It's a matter of personal preference-- I like living in posh areas and my wife likes this type of scene.
- Very close to train for transportation to/fro Airport.
-- Internet reliable.
-- 15-20 min walk to tourist sites on main road.

Cons:
-- I would give it between 4 & 4.5 stars if possible on tripadvisor. 4 stars because bathroom was one notch below my standards. Shower stall narrow with some areas peeling off. Shower drain not draining properly on the last day, although we were so busy, we couldn't report it. Some of the bathroom accessories & soaps are mediocre grade. Mattress could be improved.

Overall, good value for price and very gracious host.

Room Tip: The room which is on top of the breakfast cafe is one of the larger rooms (where we stayed), with a...
