“Very good location and new modern hotel.”
Reviewed 16 May 2012

We stayed only one night at Palermo and very happy with the service at Palazzo Sitano. The hotel is very well located at the old center... close to good restaurants and all the atractions. There is also a fish market close to it. Try to find a parking around the hotel, thats what we did, in a near by square, cause the parking is not so cheap! Hotel was modern and clean and the staff was helpful with giving us directions to the Airport.

Stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The location is great, from there we walked to all locations we visited in the center of Palermo. The staff is polite and helpful, they pointed us in the direction of some good restaurants in the area. The "valet" parking service worked out OK as well (at 21€ a night). The breakfast buffet is good, the only drawback being (what is my first in italian hotels) a nescafe powder coffee machine. If that would be replaced with a proper machine there would be nothing to fault them for.

Rooms are a bit dark but quite spacious, with a modern and large bathroom. All in all a good base from which to explore Palermo.

Room Tip: If bothered by noise, choose rooms not facing Via vittorio emanuele or Via Bottai.

The Falkensteiner Palazzo Sitano was a great relief after the chaos of Palermo. Beautiful modern rooms with decent sized bathrooms. Clean! Air conditioning worked all the time and perfectly. Beds are heavenly. Great location near all the important sites. Also near restaurants. Staff extremely helpful. Get a deluxe room for two people. Highly recommended

Room Tip: Get a deluxe room. Rooms up higher are quieter.

This is certainly a book you shouldn't judge by its cover. From outside it looks pretty uninspiring, but inside it is imaginatively designed and well fitted out. Well equipped rooms (a bit dark); nice bar with friendly barman; attractive breakfast room with good quality breakfast buffet.

We stayed here in 2011 at Easter. Great location. Within walking distance from all the attractions. Very good room. Very good breakfast. My only complain would be that we had to pay for internet in the central area. I would definitely stay again if I visited Palermo again.

Stayed April ( early season !)
On main via Vittorio Emanuele in heart (bowels) of Palermo. Most facades are uninspring and can - often do - belie interiors. Once inside things are fine. Quirky modern renovation that does credit to architects who have creatively squeezed, manipulated and craftily altered a small space into a large ,light airy one. Good use of mirrors, lights, atria, colours etc. Phenomenal work on the lifts which abut within mm of adjacent buildings. pleasant rooms with usual mod cons (?WiFi less though) and a variety of views. Some overlook very noisy vistas in a rather rumbustious city. Others (ours) face a tranquil courtyard. Reasonable soundproofing of party walls between rooms.
Pricey - in concert with most 4 stars but there are plenty of alternative venues for an evening out. Two excellent restaurants (turn left) within 100 metres of entrance. Hotel only does breakfast. Disappointing info from Reception: (having waited 10 mins at silent bar) "Is bar open?" "No." "When will it open?" "I'm not sure." "Does it have opening times?" "Either 5 or 6 pm." So, out entrance, turn right to first leafy square where there are a couple of reasonable bar/ cafes! Hmmmm.
Takes large package tour stops. Breakfast is therefore chaos with a serious lack of facilities when all are departing at once. No available places, queues, lack of crockery, replenishment of food slow and whole place disasterously overwhelmed. Can't see a soloution unless there is some staggering of departures. We'd hate to be there in high season.
The general - excluding the "sights" - city (no fault of the Falkensteiner) is a grafitti-ridden, filthy, insanitary rubbish tip packed to the gunwales with dangerous traffic, broken pavements, dog dirt, overflowing bins and derelict trashed buildings.
The Town Council should be ashamed and the commercial community should be pressuring it into using the vast money it extracts through tourism to tidy things up.
Go for a walk down the marina where the air is clearer, the spaces greener and a couple of esplanade cafes lie under the shade of trees. (Turn right walk 200 metres to bottom of Emanuele.)
The Falkensteiner suffices for the purpose it exists and probably is as good as it gets. In other circumstances it would OK. As a stand-alone entity it is acceptable but it is hostage to its environment.

Room Tip: Ask to face the back!!!

Certainly handy for a thorough visit to the city's major sites. A few steps places of entertainment and restaurants in the real Sicily. A tip to secure a good impression.
