This is a small hotel with only 11 rooms. The receptionists are exceedingly helpful, especially Francesca, who is not only very attractive but exceedingly efficient in answering an assortment of questions, even ringing up the puppet (pupi) museum to find out their opening times. The rest of staff, including the two porters and breakfast attendant are also very pleasant, going about their work in an efficient and attentive manner.
The room we had was well appointed, with a window/balcony looking out on to a small side street. There are other rooms that look out on Piazza Giuseppe Verdi but I'm not sure whether you can see the Teatro Massimo from these rooms because of the large trees obstructing the view. There is another very large plus for this hotel because it subscribes to a number of English language channels such as Sky and CNN, which is a godsend if you are like me a news addict.
Breakfast is served either in the room or in the hotel's lounge next to the reception. They have two types of breakfast: a sweet or a savoury one. The former is made up of different pastries and cakes while the latter is made up of cheese, salami and ham. The bread is fresh and the croissants sweet. Breakfast is also served with a smile and there is no need to hurry, so just enjoy the experience.
The location of the Massimo Plaza is also a great plus as it is close to almost all the sights and shops you would want to visit in Palermo. The Cappuccini Catacombs are probably the furthest site away from the Hotel. A puppet (pupi) theatre is just around the corner from the hotel and the magnificent Teatro Massimo (in desperate need of some TLC) is a stone's throw from the hotel. Finally, the Politeama Garibaldi, a concert hall, is a 15 minute walk. In addition, the Piazza Giuseppe Verdi seems to be the meeting place at dusk for most of Palermo, who mingle with the tourists walking up or down the Via Maqueda that later becomes the Via Ruggero Settimo and then the Via della Liberta..
The hotel does have one large drawback, which is a real shame, and that is that there is a steep staircase to walk up to the reception from Via Maqueda. There are porters that will fetch your luggage but that is only apparent once you reach the reception. Anybody suffering from back-ache, knee problems or any other ailments that impede walking up stairs should stay away from this hotel. It is a real pity that the hotel does not have a lift because that would make a big difference. For those of you that have no problems surmounting a steep staircase then give the hotel a try as I don't think you will be disappointed. We certainly will return to it on our next Palermo short break.

Room Tip: Room 101 is probably the quietest room although I suspect that all rooms are quiet.

Location is very central and convenient. Staffs are very attentive and strive to help with any questions or needs. They even helped us with a car drop off to the airport. Free breakfast was great. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Incredibly convenient location with a wonderful and attentive staff, topped off with breakfast brought to your room. What's not to love? I requested and got a room with a view of the Massimo Theater so woke up each morning to a beautiful view. Breakfast was brought to my room which was a wonderful daily treat. I was comfortable walking everywhere from this central location on the edge of the historic center. Lots of restaurants close by. I was meeting family who had booked another hotel and I was disappointed to not continue my Palermo stay at the Massimo Plaza Hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms that open up on the Piazza G. Verdi are beautiful and I enjoyed the sounds of the city.

We stayed here for 4 nights and is was a very nice experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great for walking to restaurants and shops or just people watching. They offer breakfast in your room but I suggest having served in the lounge. The one drawback is that there is no elevator and you must climb a steep flight of stairs to get to the lobby. One of the staff will carry your luggage up and down for you. Wi-Fi was very strong.

Fantastic hotel in the center of Palermo!

The hotel is located on the Massimo Plaza, opposite the Massimo Theater. Great rooms with great view.

Firstly, our luggage got lost at the airport, the staff was very helpful, calling the AlItaly every day trying to find our luggage. We got all the necessary "things" to survive 4 days without the suitcases. Special thanks to Francesca and Christian!

Every day there is a breakfast waiting for You at the doors.

Rooms are cleaned very well.

Don't worry about the stairs, there is a strong concierge helping You to carry all Your luggage up and down the stairs.

If You are coming with the car there is a good parking right behind the corner for just 15 euros/24 hours.

The airco is very silent, if You close the balcony windows the room is completely silent which is amazing since You are in the center of the city.

Great experience!

P.S. We didn't know that You can order the eggs for a breakfast, ask at the reception the day before.
