We stayed in the hotel because it was chosen by a tour in which we were participating. We arrived several days early to get more exposure to Palermo than our tour would provide and to recover from our lengthy plane trip. The price we then received was very good. The breakfast is slightly better than that we normally had on 12 days in Sicily. Andreina at the front desk was one of the most helpful people we encountered in such a position. It was such a comfortable place to sleep that we slept for 12 hours on our first day there. One thing to watch out for is that in both of the rooms we had, it was necessary to step up and down on entering and exiting the bathroom. Also, the walls are extremely thick and steel doors are used on the bedrooms. This meant that the free WiFi would not function on a fourth floor room. One can solve this problem by using the small sitting room on the first floor. The WiFi worked well in a second room we later used on the third floor.

Room tip: Both of the rooms we had were adequate. I would avoid a room on the first floor as guests in the sitting room can make noise that may disturb your tranquility. We did not have such a room but inadvertently discovered we disturbed the tranquility of others.

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed everything about this hotel. Andreina at the front desk was wonderful. She recommended a restaurant our first night and it was so good we went there again on our last night. The breakfast buffet was excellent and so was the location of the hotel. I want to thank Andreina was translating my grandmother's birth certificate and we actually found the street where she was born.

I stayed one night before joining a tour group, and we returned for our final night. Giovanni and other reception staff are friendly and eager to please. Basic, clean room, comfortable bed. Double window blocked street noise, which was minimal. Other reviews are right-on about location, within walking distance to many sites and restaurants. A single traveler, I felt safe at all times, and there are buses for more distant sites. Gianni, the barista, was a gem with a big smile, ready to bring cappuccino to your table. Take a stab at speaking even a little Italian, and watch for a bigger smile. Decent, satisfying breakfast choices for every appetite and diet. Computer is available to check emails. A/C at your fingertips, and quiet. Elevator or stairs...you decide. Not a fancy hotel, but speaking as an economy traveler, I feel that you do get a good value for your money ...comfort, service and good location. I'd gladly return on a future trip.

Room tip: My third-floor room faced a small side alley, but overall, street noise was not a problem.

We intended to stay five days in Palermo and decided to stay two days more at this Hotel. The Staff was wonderful and attentive. The location was perfect for us. Close to the markets, Museums, restaurants, shops, and the Airport Bus. Fresh Coffee from a great barista was superb with the morning breakfast. We would come back and stay at Hotel Tonic again!

Room tip: Be kind to staff.
