We stayed at "Casa di Nella" for a week at the end of August 2013. I was there for a conference but wanted also to enjoy the town. We fully appreciated the flat, which is wide and furnished with brand new furniture. It is exactly as in the photos: one very big double room; one twin room, both with spacious wardrobes; a sitting room, with sofa-bed, table, tv, two balconies; a well-equipped kitchenette, a bathroom, with shower offering massages and music! All rooms are conditioned and equipped with free wi-fi. Everything necessary was there, even water for the first night and the necessary for the first breakfast!
The flat is located at the third floor of a quiet building ad opens onto a small square, so it is full of light and air.
The location in the Albergheria quarter and close to the Ballarò market is strategic. Most monuments are within 10’ walk (the Cattedral, Casa Professa, Quattro canti, Martorana Santa Caterina and San Cataldo churchs, The Palazzo dei Normanni and the Cappella Palatina, San Giovanni degli Eremiti). In the market you can purchase everything you need for everyday life from very early in the morning up to eight in the evening.
The house is easy to reach, since it is at walking distance from the central station, but if you come by plane I suggest you to take the train from the airport and get down at the “Parco d’Orléans” station. You’ll get to the house in 10’ through via Porta di Castro.
The quarter is very popular but we didn’t perceive any danger, even coming back alone (only women) late in the evening. The only negative aspect is that it is dirty, even more that the average situation in Palermo which is already bad; probably this is due to the presence of the market, in any case watch where you put your feet while walking around!
