“Good location, hospitable staff and excellent views from roof top terrace”
Reviewed 24 December 2013

We stayed at Hotel Ambasciatori Palermo Sicily mid December 2013. The front desk and other staff were very hospitable and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, close to some very fine restaurants. Breakfast is served on the top-floor which has an excellent roof terrace with breathtaking views over the ancient city. We are lucky enough to have traveled a lot and have had good service in the past. I can safely say that overall Service at the hotel is good and definitely value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms are a bit small but comfortable

Went here for my 21st birthday. The terraced building along the main street of Palermo was not obvious at first, nor did it look like your every day 'hotel'. Inside we were greeted by reception desk staff that were all very kind and spoke good English. The hotel has a few floors, a winding staircase and an old elevator (of which has great character to an obviously older building). Coming to the door on your floor, you enter a quaint and cost hallway that leads to several large rooms.
The bed were fine to sleep in, we used the safe and had no problems with it.
Breakfast up on the terrace was beautiful and you have the option of sitting indoors or outside with your croissants and other continental breakfast foods.
Again, I'll say the staff were very helpful. They helped us with the wifi (not always stable) and had maps showing us the best places to go. They also helped us pick out some of the best places to eat and, with their directions, found a nice little place to eat our first night there.

The only let down was the fact our small balcony/window was on the side of the building giving a us a sight of a building not in use and rather dirty, complete with a dark alleyway and brick wall. So, not much of a view but it was fine for a smoke. If you want a good view, just pop up to the terrace with is open all the time.

They were also very nice about getting us a couple of drinks late at night, and one night when the weather turned and it was getting late, they very nicely let us order in a pizza to eat on the terrace.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view!

The Ambasciatori Hotel is definately a hotel with a wow!-factor. The (deluxe) rooms were very spacious, and the bathrooms were the cleanest we've ever seen in a hotel. Having breakfast at the rooftop terrace is great, and the views are stunning.

The location is superb, 10 min walk from the station and all the major sights are easily within walking distance. Parking was a bit of a challenge though, but we managed to get a parking space within 200 meters of the hotel 3 out of 4 nights.

The Ambasciatori is definitely a hidden gem ...

It was so much more than i expected. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was very good value for our money.. It was spacious, well decorated, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and polite.. Of course, the roof garden was fabulous aswell. But there is something else, which you might not know to look for - although this hotel was in a brilliant location, on a busy main street- it was very quiet! And this is a rare find in Palermo! (I've stayed at places where it literally sounded like sleeping in the middle of a highway, even with earplugs on).
Thank you very much Ambasciatori, if we should ever happen to be in Palermo again, we'll know where to stay.

Just enjoyed a five day break at the Ambasciatori hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room (and bathroom) was large - a little shabby in places, but that gives the hotel character! Breakfasts in the stunning roof restaurant are tasty and generous and the view is stunning. The hotel is brilliantly located close to the historic part of the city and the colourful markets. It's also close to some of the city's best restaurants. Highly recommended. Terrific value for money.

We have just come back from a five night stay at the Ambasciatori hotel and absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is fantastic with a wonderful roof terrace with amazing views over the whole of Palermo. It was a delight to have breakfast there enjoying the Sicilian sunshine and the lovely breakfast food (scrumptious cakes, the best expresso coffee if you ask, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, etc). We had paid extra for a deluxe room and this was well worth it: the room was huge and very quiet with the most comfortable bed ever. The hotel decor is lovely with antique furniture and many personal touches. All the staff were friendly and very helpful.
The hotel location is perfect: right in the historical centre, near all the sights and very convenient for the airport bus, central station and buses to other parts of the island.
This is the best place to stay in Palermo by far.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are worth the extra cost as they are much larger and quieter.

extremely nice terrace on top of the hotel with many romantic corners for breakfast and dinner with fantastic view over Palermo. Friendly stuff- clean rooms- a little bit too loud from the street- friendly and helpfull front desk- placed in the middle of everything. You can easily walk to the sea. Shops all around. And many many interesting buildings ..

Dearest sir,
the entire staff thanks you for your comment and for appreciating our Hotel and panoramic terrace.
We are always on a city center so we can’t guarantee complete silence. Anyway if you can back we will be glad to give you a room not facing the main street.
