Stayed here with a large group of friends. The rooms are large, older, yet clean. The staff was friendly. I would stay here again. If you are looking for a lot of amenities, this is not the place for you. If you are basically just looking for a place to sleep that is a good price, clean and safe, and is centrally located, this is it. Hotel is in a very good location for shopping, eating and simply exploring.

The hotel is located 8 blocks from one of the major piazzas, which is it main selling feature. We were stuck with a smoking room (we were supposed to be non-smoking) that was absolutely suffocating in the smell. They “deodorized” the room with Lysol. So you can only imagine how that smelled. My roommate was asthmatic so we kept the windows open and spent as little time as possible in that room.

The furniture was dated, but fuctional. The shower tiny, but with good water pressure. So there were trade offs.

After the first attempt at eating breakfast I skipped the meal. It was extremely basic and most of the baked goods were very dried out.

I found the staff to be very unhelpful. Everything was begrudingly done.

Room Tip: You want a room on the 6 or 7 floor in the front if you want a sea view.

Hotel Europa is an older property, however, it is centrally located in Palermo with quick and easy access to shopping and buses. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance of hotel. Rooms are nothing special, but clean. Shower is too small - but you get used to bumping your elbows on the accordian shower enclosure after a few showers. High ceilings in rooms, but overall gloomy.
Two "lifts" are available but will only fit two people with minimal luggage.

Continental breakfast was adequate but nothing special.

Room Tip: Upper floors are better. Some have a balcony.

stayed here last week, I paid 220 pounds for 6 nights. bargain. huge room with bathroom. I don't care about dated furniture I just want to sleep there :-)
the staff were helpful and reliable, ordering taxis, fixing the room safe etc i did have a bit of trouble communicating, but that was my fault I was in Italy so I should have spent a bit more time learning a few phrases.
for the money it was a deal. just down the road from the theatre, but a fair walk from the central train and bus station which we used a lot. a taxi cost us 15 euros but I think the drivers may have been adding on a little tourist tax the cheeky fellows :-) but was happy to pay that to return to the hotel after lots of hiking around.
take a taxi ride in the rush hour if you like thrills and spills :-) or even more dangerous take a walk during rush hour and cross a few main streets...that's all part of the fun
great hotel for the money, right near Louis vitton and other big names,

If you don't want to pay a lot and stay in a nice and confortable hotel, then this option is suitable for you. The rooms are large and the service is fine. Things are a little bit old but then the price is fine.
