“Sant'Espedito Church”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

The Parish of St. Expeditus marks the date of his birth and his official business March 19, Thursday, 1936, the feast of St. Joseph, with a solemn blessing of the church still unfinished, celebrated by Cardinal Luigi Lavitrano, Archbishop of Palermo. The first pastor of the new parish was Msgr. Nunzio Mineo who has a straight uninterrupted until November 5, 1979,when it came to Don Joseph Pita who followed the community up to the time of retirement. In 2010 he was presented to the community the new parish priest Fr Peter Thin. The history of the church, however, begins before becoming parish. The little information that we have taken from the Chronicon parish, drawn up by the first pastor, which recounts the early life of the new parish.Chronicon From this we know that the history of the church of S.Espedito is obviously linked to the arrival in Palermo in 1899, the devotion to the Holy Father at the hands of a Jesuit, and with the approval of Cardinal Celesia.A first draft was prepared by the architect of the church Armò, then famous, in the Art Nouveau style in vogue at the beginning of the twentieth century
