Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto and for leaving a comment such like Yours, whose main purpose is to leave a complete evaluation on the structure, carving out, at the same time, the possibility to give some suggestions which do not affect the overall judgment.

About the issues You exposed, we are displeased to know You found some bike not in perfect condition: we are already providing with the replacement but, because of the saltiness which day by day erodes everything around the sea, we are forced to make a continuous maintenance.

As regards the rooms, we would like to inform You that all the rooms are furnished and equipped in the same way, regardless their position. Obviously, the view enjoyed by each room is different, but this is something which we can not mend, since it is linked with architectural plan of the resort. Accordingly to these peculiarities, all the rooms have different rates depending on the view.

Hoping You could come again as our kind Guest, we send

Best Regards

Stayed for 7 days on a B&B basis at this hotel and had a lovely stay.
We hired a car from the airport but it was very difficult to find this hotel. When we eventually arrived, the staff gave us a map showing the directions to the airport which were fairly easy to follow when we were due to return home. As this is a 5 star hotel we thought the road signs would have been more prominent. (The turnoff is directly before the Albatross Hotel).
Unlike some other reviewers we did not have any problems with the hotel reception staff, we found them to be helpful and polite.
We stayed in a Superior room with a sea view (room 281) and the views were fabulous, it was definitely worth paying the extra! On a clear day we could see Mount Etna. Although the room was not large it was adequate for two people but we would have struggled for storage space had we stayed for a fortnight. I had a problem with the firmness of the pillows and the reception staff promptly sent the housekeeper to our room with a selection of pillows to choose from. Our European adaptor from the UK did not fit the socket in our bedroom; we contacted reception who provided a straight three prong plug (available on Amazon)
We had breakfast in the Nesos dining room each day which was enjoyable, however the area where the food was stationed was small and would imagine quite cramped during the high season.
The pool area was quiet and very relaxing. Sun loungers did not need to be reserved and there was no loud music or noisy children. During the day the staff offered a platter of fresh fruit on cocktail sticks to quench our thirst. We did not eat at the poolside restaurant as we had a car and liked to try different places to eat both at lunch time and in the evening.
There are several restaurants along the road leading directly to the hotel, some of which should be avoided (in particular the one at the boatyard).During our last night at the hotel we dined at the Nesos hotel restaurant and didn’t enjoy the food as it was not to our taste. I had two small pieces of tuna with chopped red onion. There were no vegetables and the cost was 25 euros. As other reviewers have stated, if you want to eat out in Ortegia in the evening and don’t have a car, you can take the hotel free bus at 6.30pm and get a taxi back (about 20 euros)
The hotel bar was fairly expensive but we only had a couple of drinks after having dinner in Ortigia each night.
I thought the hard landscaping at the hotel looked too harsh, the hotel site would appear more attractive if additional planting or turfed areas were incorporated. However the grounds were otherwise pleasant and well maintained.
The highlight of the holiday was the views from the hotel and watching the world go by in one of the pavement cafes in Ortigia whilst sipping a cold drink!
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, and the weather was brilliant!

Room Tip: Superior seaview rooms have the best views, we stayed in room 281

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank You for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto and for leaving this feedback. We are used to call feedbacks like Yours ‘ lived comments ’, since You offered a very clear range of information about the structure and You proved that You enjoyed the stay and the hotel life; this is the demonstration that You wrote with awareness of the facts, as everybody should do when writing on Trip Advisor.

As regards the breakfast service, we would like to inform You that in June the hotel has had an 80% of occupation, included in the period of Your stay. Also, the breakfast schedule allows every guest to enjoy it easily.

Concerning the way to reach the hotel, this is handily achievable for those who come with their own car. However, I agree upon the need to increase the signage. If it has not happened to this day, this is due not to our negligence but to the iron rules of the traffic laws and the extreme bureaucracy.

We are glad You appreciated the service all around the swimming pool with free fruits and finger food and we are disappointed to note that You didn’t like the course You ordered. Usually, tuna fish is one of the most appreciated course of our menu, because of its high quality and freshness. So, having a strong and determined flavor, it is possible that You may have not liked its taste.

Being glad to know You found some peace and relax in our resort, we hope You could come again in the future as our kind Guest.

Best Regards

We stayed at the Hotel Minareto at the end of May, still just out of season. The hotel is laid out as a set on one story 4-room blocks over a wide area, with a view of Syracuse across the bay. The staff were universally friendly and helpful, and lunches by the pool were a delight.

Dear Guests,

Thank you, Thank You, Thank You!
I would like to thank You for the wonderful feedback You left and I am glad to know You appreciated the whole Resort and, above all, the meals at the swimming pool area, whose services we are trying to improve day by day, putting, for example, a daily BBQ point around the pool, where our chefs cook fresh fish.

I hope You will come again as our kind Guest, just to experience this kind of new service.
Best Regards

Good size rooms and bathrooms, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic views over the bay towards Siracusa. Food very average and expensive and if there is a private function on you take second place and will be relocated from the dining room to eat by the pool. The 2 bars are by the pool and reception lobby with no views but the hotel has fantastic views so why not have a bar with a view for a sundowner before dinner?
Car hire is essential if you want to see the area and sample the local restaurants, which I would recommend. If you only want to visit the island of Ortigia there is a free hotel bus or take a water taxi.
It's difficult to know how much you are spending as the individual order chits that you sign simple refer to 2 beers or 2 lunches with no prices and at these prices be prepared for a shock at the end of your stay.
The room balconies are small with 2 chairs and a table and should be bigger with sun loungers to avoid the fight for space around the pool.
It's a great island and I would go back but to a different hotel that offers better value for money.

Room Tip: Book a better quality room with sea view, some rooms have no view of anything.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank You for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto and for giving Your contribuition to the improvement of the resort itself.
I am pleased to know that the feedback concerning the resort is, altogheter, positive and gratifying, due to the position of the resort, its landscapes, the kindness of the staff, the services offered and the cleanliness of the rooms.

Against what You wrote, i am displeased to notice that there is a discrepancy between what You certify as positive and the final score we received, which it seems to be reshaped by the assessment linked to the prices: indeed, the prices You could find in a 5* Resort most of the time are adapted to the high standard levels and quality offered.

Having said that, I am getting ready to reply to some points You wrote about.
As regards the bar, it could be a pleasure for us to have an operative bar just in front of the sea, and we are already working on it, even if, alread now, it is possible for our Guests to be served in the different terraces with sea view.
Concerning the balconies of the rooms, unfortunately their size coulnd't been changed, since the local strategic plan did not allow us to build over the preexisting structure; in addition, we were forced to follow an eco-friendly develompment.

About the different locations where we serve dinner, we would like to inform You that our Guets are not relocated in a secondary place. We follow the policy of the "Itinerant Dinner": this is means that, having a great variety of beautiful locations with wonferful lansdscapes, during the week, we change the location of the dinners, giving to our Guests the possibility to enjoy the different areas of the resort. So, we are used to match the day of a special private event with the Itinerant Dinner, not considering this a makeshift.

We would be very glad if, returning as our kind Guests in the next future, You will appreciate once again our Resort, experiencing the news of next season.

Best Regards

Set on a stunning coast line, with immaculate private beaches, and radiant Sicilian weather, the Grand Minareto offers everything you could hope for during a summer break. The grounds and accommodation were outstandingly maintained and the Pool and additional terraces must be seen, the pictures on the website were not over sold at all. This is where the 5 star Minareto experience ends however, we found the place to be a logistical slog without much assistance from the often arrogant reception staff.

- Kuoni charged almost 20% (£650) more for 1 week than if you book flights and accommodation directly.
- The food at the hotel is barely 3 star, average snacks (chips and sandwiches 30 Euros) while the Nesos restaurant was appalling. A bland pasta menu, everything smothered in pistachios, it was trying to be upmarket without the quality. We were then overcharged by 15 Euros and had to literally point to the price on the menu. The management staff still tried to argue before admitting their error.
- A bottle of beer is 8 Euros in the restaurant, it costs 90 cents in town.
- You must book a car as this place is in the middle of no where (Neither the hotel or travel sites accurately warn you of this). Book in advance as the hotel will be able to provide a rental at literally twice the cost.
- English speakers are advertised but we found 2 staff members could actually converse
- The Sri Lankan staff were friendly and warm, they work 90 hours a week minimum and will go out of their way to help
- Make sure there are no conferences/ events booked during your stay. You will be excluded from areas of the hotel while the event guests can freely roam and intrude on the "tranquility" on offer here. We literally had screaming kids running around at 9pm during dinner from a wedding!
- If you complain the staff on reception (barring Fabio who was excellent) will avoid you and will be extremely rude.
- Taxi firms will charge you from their destination to the hotel to collect you before charging the fare for your journey. It will cost 40 - 50 Euros to get in to town for a meal.
- Rooms are average here, air condition barely makes any difference (19 degree minimum confirmed by staff) and the bed was harder than a paving slab...not 5 star

Ultimately the views and grounds are 5 star along with a minority of the staff. Events will take priority over your staff and if you are not willing to accept over charging then don't expect the staff to bother with you (Fabio and the Sri Lankan team are exceptions). Food at breakfast is standard and the same everyday while the room was nothing special. You are paying for the views .

Room Tip: Sea views are outstanding

Dear Guests,

First of all, thank You for Your feedback and for appreciating the quality of the structure and its locations: actually, the two terraces offer striking and unique landscapes .
Granted that we accept in a fair way all the criticisms and the negative feedbacks written by our kind Guests to whom we reply with great accuracy, it is very difficult for us to reply to someone who writes and acts with not constructive aims.

We would like to clarify one point: Grand Hotel Minareto offers to all its Guests a free Shuttle Service which twice a day, round trip, goes to Ortigia, the city center of Siracusa. In case Guests want to call a taxi, the rate never exceed € 15,00 per way.

Regarding Your specific case, it would be correct to highlight that one late evening, during Your stay, our Resort offered to You, overtime and absolutely free of charge, one extra transfer with our shuttle service to the place requested by You. This kind courtesy, proper of a 5* hotel, was transformed by You in a means of extortion. When it hasn’t been possible to offer this service, due to some acts of God, our Reception Staff was threatened, claiming to ruin the reputation of the Resort with some negative comments on Trip Advisor, circumstance occurred, as we have received two comments very similar to each other.

Also, Your comments report some unsourced statements. For example, the carte of Nesos Restaurant offers a well-matched menu with 12 first courses; among these, pistachios is present only in one first course.

As regards the beds, since our first and main aim is to offer an accommodation, we certainly have not economized on our mattresses. We offer one of the best brand in the world and most of our Guests usually leave positive feedback, asking information about them. If You had expressed Your disappointment about it, we proceeded to change the mattress, as we usually do.

I would conclude, hoping that You will come again as our kind Guest in our Resort and hoping, as well, that Your behavior will be more honest.

Best Regards

Excellent location and scenery. We had a beautiful room with sea-view. The resort is situated in a natural reserve and has his private beach, you have also access to a rocky beach from where you can book the boat heading to the historical centre of Siracusa ( 10 min. roughly). They also provide a free shuttle service to town twice per day. It was a really relaxing stay, we enjoyed the Spa and especially the open air jacuzzi pool overviewing Ortigia (the ancient part of the town).
As I celebrated my birthday there my boyfriend surprized me with a romantic dinner at the terrace of the rocky beach with a wonderful view of the town at night...no idea of the cost but it really made my day!! A special thanks to the staff at reception, they were all very friendly and helpful with tips on restaurants, winerys and places to visit nearby.

Nothing short of excellence. The jacuzzis have a view of Ortigia so be sure to catch a sunset. Gluten free bread and cake (!) available at breakfast. Drinks served on the private beach. The tunnel to the beach is very steep - that will burn those calories from the chocolate fountain right off. They sell cigarettes at reception - just need to ask. Restaurant staff speaks limited English so practice your basic Italian vocabulary. They really appreciate the effort.
