I stayed at this lovely property end of July for one week and enjoyed very moment. The lunch by the pool the first day was disappointing, i opted for a large mixed salad (a poor version of a Nicoise style) it was bland and insipid, the sauce disappointing. They could have supplied a much nicer typical Italian Sicilian salad instead, but there was none on the menu to order and it was totally overpriced. The room was really cute with lovely patio overlooking the sea, with a breathtaking view. The breakfast was good, it provided me my fresh salad every morning as well as my freshly squeezed orange juices and delicious fresh fruits. However, it was lacking in the typical Sicilian varieties, so after i complained to the manager, who was very cooperative and obliging, i started getting every morning my Sicilian varieties which consisted of delicious olives, anchovies, local cheeses, delicious tomatoes, i could no longer complain. The organised tours at the hotel were pricey, however, the receptionist was so helpful, she managed to get me a very good deal and excellent couple ( Italian husband (driver) and well spoken Russian wife (guide) who really made our day. The shuttle bus service every night to the quaint and cute town of Ortigia, was very helpful in terms of savings on transportation. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel that i intend to come back some time in the future with my husband to share this great experience. They need to improve on the quality of food by the pool and to keep up with five star standard by sending someone in early evening to change the towels and refresh the room. On whole it was a good experience. I would like to thank the manager for meeting our expectations.

Room Tip: the beach front are the best and nicest

Our first visit to Sicily and we were not disapointed with the Grand Hotel Minareto. Beautiful views of Syracuse and Ortiga and the bungalow rooms are very well spaced out that you have a lot of privacy.. Lots of different areas to sunbathe, pool, beach and rocky cliff where we got a boat to Syracuse on three evenings. A lovely way to travel between locations. Staff were fantastic, quality of food was absolutely excellent and we were offered melon and free drinks during our stay whilst at the pool etc. A lovely thought and caring. Cleanliness is excellent in the rooms and everywhere in the hotel. It was a good choice and we will definately return to this hotel. We only have a couple of criticisms and these did not affect our holiday but we feel the hotel should offer a pasta and pizza menu in the evening as they are missing out because a lot of people like us walked to La Fornace or Ostrech Park to eat this type of food and had it been available we would have stayed in the hotel.Secondly the cars used by the staff to clean the rooms etc should be replaced with the buggies as its more in keeping with the beautiful environment and scenery. However as we said a LOVELY LOVELY hotel!!! Thank you xx

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview!!

Dear Guest,

Thank You so much for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto as destination for Your holiday and for leaving this lovely feedback.

We are glad You appreciated some of the key-factors of our resort, as the cleanliness of the rooms and paths, the care about the gardens, the beauty of the locations, the breathtaking views, and the skills and courtesy of the staff.

About the two little aspects You pointed out, we are glad to disclose some of the news of the next season. We are going to replace all the cars the housekeeping uses with some electrical cars, just to preserve the environment, as You said.

As regards the food service, we will create a new opening area offering some typical Sicilian courses. We will have more details at the beginning of the next season.

We are looking forward to having You as our special guest in the future

Best Regards

Basically, it's clean and big and has all the attributes of a good 4 star hotel. But: rooms have rather dated decor, room service delivery had a 20 eur charge per person (imagine your 4 month old had to sleep early and you can't push out even to the resto in the grounds), wine delivery to the room - 15eur on top of the price of the bottle and wifi only in the lobby.
If compared to some 5* around the world this one fails to compete, let alone be "Delux".
However, this is the best available option in the whole of south-east Sicily. And the sea view rooms have a fantastic view over the old town of Siracusa and mount Etna.
I guess my advice is to adjust expectations coming here.

Dear Guest,

Thank You for being guests of the Grand Hotel Minareto and for the feedback You wrote. Reading Your words, I’m just trying to understand which point or problem was the cause of Your dissatisfaction about Your stay. Indeed, in order to leave a working comment, useful for readers and owners of the hotels, every customer, being responsible of what he’s going to write, should factually justify his words, by reporting tangible cases and keeping a consistent behavior. It seems to me that Your feedback is anything but consistent. You write that our structure can be considered as “the best available option in the whole of south-east Sicily”, but this strikes with the low score You assigned us and with the different esteems made about the cleanliness, the structure and the views.

Regarding the rooms, we regret to see that You didn’t appreciate the interior design and the furniture of the rooms, since these are handcrafted by skilled craftsmen and are based on different styles and colors. However, I recognize that it is often a matter of personal and subjective tastes, which we couldn’t call into question. Anyhow, I hope that You appreciated the benefits inside the rooms, as the mini-bar, the internet access through the TV, bed and mattress.

Finally, we hope that You could give us the opportunity to host You once again in our resort, just to show You all the improvements we are going to make.

Best Regards

I recently not only stayed a few days at Hotel Minareto but also hosted a Surprise 80th Birthday Party for my father and I could not have been more pleased. I have lived in the US for a good chunk of my life but my family is from Sicily and I know the island and other hotel options quite well, and I can 100% recommend this Hotel. I honestly can't come to terms with a few negative reviews that I have read on this page, probably from people used to compare hotels and ratings in VERY DIFFERENT PLACES AND COUNTRIES. For SICILY, what the people of the Minareto have done is OUTSTANDING and my compliments go out to them. Particular recognition to Miss Valentina Consiglio who helped me plan a +90 people even from the US that achieved praised and complients from EVERY SINGLE GUEST. Every single promise was delivered and every expectation not only met but exceeded. The food was outstanding and you can certainly not find a better view of Ortigia and Siracusa from anywhere else. This is NOT a city center hotel, so if that's what you want is not the right place. This hotel is 10 minutes from Siracusa city center but allows you to retreat and enjoy one of the most amazing views you can think off.

Dear Mrs. Latino,

We would like to thank You, on behalf of Mrs. Valentina Consiglio and the whole staff, for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto as destination and location to celebrate Your father’s 80Th birthday and for leaving such a great comment.

It was a real pleasure for us to know all Your wonderful family, sharing this important moment with You. To receive all compliments from Your family’s members about the location, the service, the food, the courtesy of the staff and the general organization, it was the greatest reward one management could receive.

We really hope that You and all Your family would come again during the next season, enjoying what our beautiful island could give.

The hotel has a fantastic location, providing both a sandy bay and terraces down towards the sea, as well as a large pool area and a couple of jacuzzis overlooking the sea. Perfect location for lazy days by the sea and exploring Syracuse and surrounding area (if you have rented a car). The hotel is situated 10 km from the city of Syracuse and the old city Ortigia. The hotel does however provide a free shuttle bus service (for 7 persons) four times a day, -if you want to explore Ortigia. The last bus at 18:30 is perfect for eating dinner out, but you'll need to take a taxi back that will cost you approximately € 25.

The resort and rooms are well kept and clean, but the architecture itself is neither here nor there and didn't really appeal to me. The common areas like the reception, the bars and the Nesos restaurant are very tacky. Be sure to get a room with a sea view, or you might end up in the parking lot.

The hotel claims that they have WiFi coverage in the common areas including the pool, but it is a half truth since there only are a few patches with WiFi. I sincerely hope the hotel invests in a WiFi upgrade also including complete coverage of the pool area, the rooms and the beach. It is not a huge investment and the new generation of guest will require it!! For visitors wanting to enable WiFi in the room, just bring a small router like ASUS WL-330N3G and plug it into your wired Internet connection in your hotel room.

The most disappointing thing about this hotel is the food and restaurants. It is nothing more than average and far too expensive for what you get. We found ourselves eating in Ortigia most days (E.g. Ristorante Retroscena, Sicilia in Tavola..). The Italian/Sicilian kitchen has so much to offer (!), so the hotel restaurants need to reboot their concept and start over from scratch. If you want a genuine pizza (with a sea view) in walking distance, try La Fornace, 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. It is packed with locals.

To sum up the hotel is situated in a beautiful location. The architecture and definitively the dining experience does however not do it justice. If you take the hotel for what it is, you'll have a great stay. We enjoyed ourselves.

Room Tip: It is absolutely worth paying a few extra Euros to get a room with sea view.

Dear Guest,

I would like to thank You for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto for Your vacation and for writing such a positive feedback.
It makes us happy You appreciated so much our free shuttle service, the uniqueness of the location, the beauty of the private sandy beach and all the other benefits.

As regards the criticalities You wrote about, we are glad to inform You that we are working to extend the Wi-Fi signal over the entire surface of the resort; also, starting from the next season, we will introduce in our menu a section of typical sicilian courses, extending our offer.

Hoping we could host You again as our kind Guest, just to experience the great news and the improvements of the next season, we send

We were advised to stay here by friends. When we arrived, immediately we thought we were mistaken. It looked like a caricature of a hotel designed for a TV mafia movie. Everything was tacky, reception was horrible, rooms unbelievably ugly. Food inedible. Stay anywhere else.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank You for choosing Grand Hotel Minareto and for writing this feedback on TripAdvisor.

We regreat very much that the overall judgment is absolutely negative but, unfortunately, based on what You wrote, we don’t have any concrete facts to be answered or unpleasant situations to apologize.
Honestly, it seems that the main aim of Your comment is to wittingly denigrate the hotel rather than give useful advices or remarks to readers and hoteliers.

In Your comment it is not indicated what You ate and why this experience was not positive at all; it is not indicated the duration of the stay, the period and the typology of the room. Useful remarks on the staff, the cleanliness or the location, are totally missing.

What is most striking is the debut of Your comment: it shows a biased attitude towards the structure and a total closed-mindedness. We agree that our personal tastes are indisputable but judging the structure negatively just because You don’t like the style, not supporting Your comment with evidence, is a symptom of little intelligence and also, it is an attitude that is ill-suited to a traveler.

I decided to reply to Your comment just to let everyone understand that TripAdvisor is really useful only when users respect the rules and behave properly.

I still hope that in the future You will give us the opportunity to make You change Your mind.

Best Regards
