“Fantastic location - we're going back!”

We stayed with friends at Musciara last September and it was a dream. Although we originally wanted to be on the island of Ortiga we made the right choice with this hotel as the fact that it had its own small private beach made all the difference, and the walk in and out of the town in the evening was ideal to build up an appetite and then walk off the lovely food and drink you can find in Ortigia.

The room we had was quite small but perfectly formed with a lovely shower room and view over the sea. Waking up to the sound of the sea lapping against the wall below us was lovely.

Breakfast was good and plentiful, unfortunately we only ate lunch in the hotel on one of the days we stayed, which was unfortunate as it was very special. We will make up for this on our next visit this summer.

Room Tip: Although I am sure that some of the other rooms in the hotel were bigger our small room with sea vie...

If you are going to Syracuse there is one place you must stay and it is here! We spent 11 days going round Sicily and stayed in several different hotels and without a doubt this was far the best! Our room overlooked the ocean and was wonderful to close the shutters over at night, leaving the doors opened and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. The staff were all very friendly and wonderful, the food was to die for, lovely breakfast. We also had dinner on both nights we stayed, mainly because we had been out and about during the day we wanted to relax and watch the sunset on the beach, and it was the best meal we had in Sicily. It certainly was worth every penny of staying, it wasn't the most expensive place we stayed on our trip but it certainly was the best. The location is wonderful and the private beach really tops it off. The walk into Ortigia isn't too long about 15 minutes however the hotel is in a wonderful location! We would go back in a heart beat!

You will not be disappointed by booking this resort. So much gorgeous detail - its all wonderful. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and woke to the same - heavenly. The buffet breakfast is the best I have had anywhere, lots of fresh Sicilian produce baked on the premises and the most idyllic location, by the clear waters edge, to enjoy it each day. Our 3 night stay came too soon and I miss it already. They were very accomodating for our last day as we had a late flight and we were offered the continued use of the private beach and facilities right up to being picked up for the airport. We decided it would make the perfect ending to our visit to eat at the restaurant and as previous reviews have said the cost was quite high but we felt it was worth it. Would return in an instant.

Room Tip: sea facing

This hotel is great, the rooms are well kept and very nicely decorated in line with the overall interior design of the hotel. You can see that it is very managed by a family with a small army of staff ready to help you with drinks on the beach or anything you require in the room.
The private beach is definitely the best in Syracuse as in the middle of the city you can really relax and chill in a great calm environment.
Breakfast is amazing with fresh quality products sourced locally and offer a wide selection of sweet and savoury dishes.

Musciara was one of the guest houses we chose to stay at on our 2 week round trip of Sicily

Overall: Located on the main land facing the Siracuse peninsula right on the sea front. The luxury hotel has seen a lot of money spent in interior and exterior design and offers a high level of service. Kind of expected given the amount of money you are expected to spend for a single night. Only thing is its location. To get into town you need to walk at least 20 minutes and in Summer you easily will work up a sweat to get into town. The artificial bay offers a great place to relax after a long walk around the old town and its vibrant market (visit well worth it)

The room: we went for the cheapest room at some 200Euros. It was small but the sea view over the bay, harbour and old town was lovely to wake up too. Given that you should be spending your time either in town or lying at the beach or sitting in the common areas of the hotel and are only sleeping in the room, it is negligible. Again it was the last night and a treat to ourselves. The room was nicely decorated.

The bed: High quality bedlinen and good mattress

The bathroom: small but enough space for two. All with a nice finish

The breakfast: The biggest buffet we had seen on the entire trip with a huge selection of high quality food. Different sorts of regional cheese. Freshly baked cakes. Huge selection of fruit and freshly made juices. If you arrived early you could get a table right next to the water and feed the fish with some toast...very pleasant

Now if you are prepared to spend a fair bit of money, enjoy a walk and want a place to relax at the beach...then this hotel is worth a night or two

although the hotel itself is quite beautiful and well situated... having its own beach was very welcome, the manager was quite cold to the point of rude to me and my friends upon arriving and most of our staying... that is until we paid the bill. the rest if the staff was very accommodating considering every time we made a request they had to ask her permission.. they almost seemed a bit nervous around her... I would suggest staying clear of her and you stay will be very pleasant. the breakfast iS amazing and it's very tranquil otherwise...

Sicilian hospitality comes naturally to the Pallone family who own and run the exclusive, Musciara Resort - a jewel of a hotel situated on a private, crescent moon of golden beach just outside the ancient island of Ortigia in Siracusa, Sicily.
With emphasis placed on the finer details, Salvatore Pallone and his sister, Laura know how to make each guest feel pampered while discretely allow them to unwind and enjoy the beautiful decor, comfortable rooms, the private beach and excellent service.
Memorable meals are enjoyed on the terrace overlooking Musciara's private bay, the view of the port and the historical city of Ortigia, beyond. A locally inspired menu is overseen by the family matriarch, Signora Pallone who's charm and graceful generosity insists on the freshest ingredients and traditional preparation - as she does in her own home.
So when faced with the challenge last June of where to accommodate my visiting mother (a practical but discerning woman of a certain age), the choice was logical. Each day, I watched her relax and enjoy herself more until she didn't want to leave. She had fallen in love with Sicily and the unforgettable welcome extended to her by the Pallone family at the Musciara Resort. Highly recommended.
