We should have stayed on Ortygia, which is not this hotel's fault. Plus points, it was equidistant from Ortygia and the bus/train station, which made it handy for exploring Syracuse or farther afield. The maid kept the rooms spotless and the breakfast was good (the restaurant staff were friendly too). Minuses, the neighbourhood was quite sketchy after dark, so it was a shame that the bar was never open and there was no room service (not when we asked, anyway). Also, the female on reception was collosally rude; one assumes she owns the place. On balance this is clearly aimed at business travellers; if we returned to Siracusa we wouldn't return to this hotel.

On day four of our bus tour we stayed at the lovely hotel Alfeo in Syracuse Sicily. This was a very modern hotel with lovely rooms. Great breakfast. The staff were great. It was just a short walk from the beautiful Island of Ortigia. What a lovely place Ortigia is. We were taken to the fantastic food market by our local guide it was such an interesting place. Ortigia has some wonderful places to eat. If you are going to Sicily Ortigia and Syracuse are a must.

This was a comfortable hotel, within a short walk to Ortigia Island and easy access to main archeological sites. The room and bathroom were minimalist modern but immaculate with quality bath fixtures. Our room overlooked the inner quadrangle (no view) and we had a problem with mosquitoes the first night when we opened the window, solved by using the air conditioner.Otherwise, we found the hotel staff helpful and the common areas tastefully decorated in Art Deco and comfortable. A computer for guest use off the lobby was well-used. Street parking for our rental car worked out although it might be a problem in the high season. As another guest mentioned, the Wash 'N Dry "self-serve" laundry just two blocks away was a wonderful find. David (Italian) and Mariah (Canadian), not only launder your clothes, but fold and package them in plastic for easy pick-up--and return any money you've prepaid if your wash turns out to take fewer machines. Amuni, a recently opened restaurant next door to the laundry served the best fish we had in Sicily, along with a 14-item antipasto. We liked it so well, we ate there twice during our stay and just had Chef/Owner Hector select what he wanted to prepare the second night. He produced a sumptuous feast.

Hotel has great location, on the edge of the old city (Ortigia), with easy access to both the old and new parts of town. Easy to get to from the highway (if you have a car). Curbside parking only, but we had no problems finding a parking spot for the 4 days we were there (the hotel has a few reserved curbside parking spots beside the hotel, but we found our spots on the street directly in front of the hotel). Although next to a busy street, our room was quite (a lot less traffic in evening). Seems to be a safe part of town - we wandered around at all hours, streets very quiet in the evening, easy stroll into Ortigia, and a number of good restaurants within a few blocks of hotel. Although in an older building, our room was large, and clean, and the bathroom had been updated, with plenty of hot water and water pressure. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful though front desk staff spoke limited English, and sometimes a bit hard to communicate clear, but not a problem. Large breakfast buffet with full range of breads, cheeses, meats, cereals, etc included.

This is an excellent hotel to explore Syracuse from. The rooms were a little small but very comfortable and clean with good shower and bathroom facilities. The restaurant was good for breakfast but other wise head out to the old town. The bar was not open when we visited despite being told at check in that it would be. There is no designated parking but there are plenty of on street options. The desk staff are helpful and even came out onto the street to explain the local parking rules and the best places to pick.

Easy to find but parking might have been a problem. Fortunately we were very lucky to find a space and left the car for our complete 2 night stay.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of both the old town and, in the other direction, the archaeological area so the location was very convenient.
The room was modern and clean, much what one would expect from a city hotel. The bed was comfortable and the room not too noisy. Equipment included a safe deposit box and hair dryer but not a kettle.
Buffet style breakfast was average.

The hotel is nice and has a good location, rooms are big and clean, the bathroom is very nice BUT the promised parking does not exist. On the website is mentioned "we offer a buffet breakfast for no extra charge together with services ranging from room cleaning, laundry and dry cleaning, 24hr front desk, parking...", which is a lie, because there is no parking! And the staff became hostile when we asked about the parking mentioned on the web-site...
