“Nice hotel, bit far from town though”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

Loved this hotel. Well designed, helpful staff, good food and comfortable room. The only downside was the distance from the town centre. We got the bus some days but walked most of the time as they bus was very hit and miss.

The room was very comfortable. We had a small problem with the safe but the staff resolved it immediately.

This hotel was architecturally, very interesting. The room designs and colour scheme throughout were very pleasing to they eye. The whole hotel had a feel good atmosphere.
The breakfasts were excellent, with the fresh orange juice a winner.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooftop area was a bonus, with lovely chairs to sink into. a perfect place for an evening drink.
Free wifi, good gym and interesting art installation all added to the good experience of staying at this hotel.
only downside for me was its position, but the cab fares were very cheap.

Room Tip: Some rooms appear to have a little courtyard. Ask for one of those when you book.

Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, great place to stay. We stayed here for 10 nights from
23/06/13 - 03/07/13 and found the hotel to be of a very high standard.
The rooms were clean, smelled lovely and were cleaned daily by very friendly cleaners. The hotal staff were all really helpful. Aleksandra spoke really good English and was really pleased to help in what ever way she could. Maria and Francesca were also very helpful and accomodating and made us feel special and welcome. Breakfast was very nice and the breakfast ladies were very helpful. Dinner service was lacking slightly, as it wasn't open all week and the vegetarian menu was very lacking. But Aleksandra was brilliant and her good understanding of English helped us a lot in this respet and the chef made me something vegetarian not on the normal menu.
The hotel is a fair walk from Ortigia. But we walked everywhere whilst staying in Siracusa and for anyone who is not scared of a bit of walking........this is the place for them!! We saw a lot more and discovered most of Siracusa ourselves, by heading out on foot.
The Sky bar/roof is a definate bonus. Not many people used it????? Which is crazy!! it was beautiful up there and you could use the honesty bar and chill up there for hours. And due to the lack of people up there, it felt private! It was very laid back with big comfy sofas and we often bought takeaway pizza and eat up on the sky terrace.
The only downside to this amazing hotel is its location. It was not the nicest part of Siracusa. The closer you get to Ortigia, the cleaner the streets became. This is not the fault of the hotel, but more of the local people. Tourism keeps places like this alive and the Sicilians living here should be more conscious of littering and dog fowling.

On a final note....We would highly recommend this hotel for comfort, business or pleasure.

Thanks Una One and all the staff for making our stay in Siracusa, a holiday to remember.

The UNA Hotel One in Syracuse turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.....once we found it !! Our rogue GPS took us up some very narrow and even dead end streets before we found the UNA Hotel One. It is a little out of the main part of Syracuse which might be a negative for some guests, but we preferred to leave our car at the hotel and take taxis to wherever we wanted to go to in the city. It only cost E10 to get to the main part of town, or to the ancient ruins.
However, more than making up for its location, the UNA Hotel One turned out to be a very modern hotel.....quite funky rooms, but it all worked and we slept very well there. The breakfasts were different but perfectly satisfactory, and the overall value for money of the hotel was outstanding. We also enjoyed the best wifi of any hotel we stayed in in Sicily....and for that matter Italy.
However our lasting impression of the UNA Hotel One in Syracuse will be of the wonderful and very helpful young staff who just cannot help you enough. They were all wonderful, but I must single out the lovely Elcin.....a real Turkish delight !! This gorgeous young lady could not have been more helpful, and is a real charmer. All of this more than made up for some locational challenges.

Room Tip: Just tell the check in staff what you are looking for....they are very helpful. The rooms are not la...

My wife and I stayed here for a week and have just returned, we chose it based on the reviews given here and therefore had few expectations.
The hotel is contemporary in design although it is not brand new, it does feel a little like a gym with rooms added, however the room was nicely styled and well appointed.
The service was excellent, in contrast to some comments given here, they were very helpful and the breakfast buffet was lovely especially the orange juicer and fresh pastries with a menu of freshly cooked options to choose from too.
The location is a strong point as if you are nearer to Ortigia the noise and parking would be an issue, the parking was plentiful and we drove into town every night. Parking is easy and reasonably costed in the centre, just ask the receptionist for directions. If you don't have a car I would advise you to either get one or perhaps stay somewhere else.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone hence why we scored it so highly, we were very pleasantly surprised and our special thanks go to Laura on reception and the lady who served our breakfast every day and hugged my wife goodbye when we left :-)

We were passing through Siracusa for the day and one night on our way to Catania and we had our own car (definately you need this as the location isn't central).

We arrived early at 10am and the Reception Staff went about doing their best to see if they could get us into our rooms straight away even though check in time was early afternoon. Big Big Plus points here in my books and we were invited into the breakfast room whilst we waited, and offered Tea/Coffee etc.

The entire hotel is very modern and quite dark as part of its style including the room decor, but it was something different and for one night was okay. The shower needs a big glass door to protect water going everywhere, and the double bed was two singles together so pretty large.

The Central A/C system was stuck on heating mode, so we found the room too hot and couldn't reduce the temperature unless we opened the windows at night making it a bit noisy.

Onsite parking is large enough for the hotel, we didn't have dinner in the hotel as it was rather limited in what was on offer. You need to jump into the car and head down the hill towards the centre.

I used their gym in the morning which is very large for a small hotel and then tucked in to a typical Italian breakfast of Fresh Pastries and cakes, along with proper bean to cup coffee and fresh Orange juice. You can order eggs and pancakes at no extra charge and these are freshly prepared, my poached eggs were perfect.

I would say during the off-peak season the rooms could be better priced but for one night it was nice and the staff were genuinly friendly and wanting to help.

Room Tip: You can ask for a room with a balcony on the 1st Floor, and 3rd Floor rooms appeared to be larger th...
