“Nice stop and unique to Siracusa.”
Reviewed 4 May 2013 via mobile

Besides Egypt where can you find papyrus? Siracusa. The little museum is open 9am-2pm (most guidebooks say 1pm) and its 2 euro not free but worth it. Next door to the much more extensive and fabulous archaeological museum it has an interesting video and good well displayed items that belonged to its founder. You can find a couple of nice artists shops on Ortygia selling hand painted papyrus. As always no bookshop (same w other museums).

“Interesting, worth a visit.”
Reviewed 28 April 2013

We were told that this museum had been closed due to lack of funding (after we had visited it a month earlier), so when we were passing by we went in and checked... it is still open. However, since I am sure funding is a problem, maybe you should call before going. Bring a flashlight, lighting is dim in places.

“Educational”

I found this museum to be educational, informative and extremely interesting. The only thing I didn't like was the fact you weren't allowed to take photos.

“educational”

This is an interesting museum which illustrates just how papyrus is made. There are interesting artefacts to look at - some ancient and some modern. The entrance is through gates and walk to the end of the lane. We thought it was closed when we looked at the front.

“Interesting and free”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

The topic is interesting but it is a old-fashioned museum and the staff simply seats on its chair, no explanation given. Just go drectly to the documentary in English (DVD) in the last room and then come back to the first rooms to better understand.
