The museum moved to Via Nizze 14 and reopend march 2014. It is very small but very interesting with a demonstration of how to make paper from Papyrus.

“Brand New in Ortigia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

Amazing little museum that teaches the history of writing and art on papyrus. Really informative and interesting with a live demonstration of how papyrus is made and interesting video. The professor running the place is a real character and worth the price of admission on his own.

Only 4 euros admission. The best value so far!

“Papyrus Museum is closed!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2013

We went there late September 2013, but it is closed for the time being as it is being relocated elsewhere. I am sure it would have been fascinating had we been able to go!! Maybe next time...

A small but interesting museum dedicated to papyrus, A DVD presentation in a variety of languages provided a useful introduction.

We all know about papyrus and paper, but boats was a new one to me.

“Nice stop and unique to Siracusa.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2013 via mobile

Besides Egypt where can you find papyrus? Siracusa. The little museum is open 9am-2pm (most guidebooks say 1pm) and its 2 euro not free but worth it. Next door to the much more extensive and fabulous archaeological museum it has an interesting video and good well displayed items that belonged to its founder. You can find a couple of nice artists shops on Ortygia selling hand painted papyrus. As always no bookshop (same w other museums).
