The apartment is at the top of the building with good views from the three terraces across the rooftops, and down to the street below. This spacious apartment is stylish and comfortable.
The street is primarily a residential street and not too touristy which we liked. There is an excellent market a couple of minutes walk away which provided all fresh food required, and plenty of local restaurants and bars which were of an overall higher standard than we were expecting.
The bathroom plumbing is a bit more basic than we have at home, but nothing to worry over. The kitchen is small, but plenty big enough to make a cup of tea and a simple breakfast in the morning which is all we asked of it. I wasn't so keen on the stairs up to the kitchen which had narrow treads, particularly on the return.
The stairs to the apartment are narrow with low headroom in a couple of places, but typical of an older building.
We stayed here for two weeks and had a very enjoyable time. We liked the apartment and felt very at home there. Ortyiga has great character and a long history - an interesting and attractive place. We would recommend both the apartment and Ortygia for a holiday.
