We enjoyed the hotel and the service very much. We were upgraded when we arrived and the parking space next to the hotel were waiting for us as we had reaerved. Especially the reception were extremely helpfull and serviceminded. The swimingpool and the pool area worked very well. We also tried the restaurant at the hotel and the fish was wonderfull but the meat dishes need improvement.

The hotel's location is ideally situated. You are within steps of the main corso. The staff at the hotel are very professional, attentive, and accommodating. They go out of their way to assure a memorable stay. The rooms were spacious, modernly appointed, and quite comfortable. Breakfast was also available with generous portions available. An ideal place to stay within minutes of the main areas of Taormina.

Room Tip: The rooms are quiet since the hotel is tucked away from the main corso.

This hotel great location in the town. The rooms were fab and really clean. Parking difficult nearby my husband got lost trying to find car park and it took an hour. When returning to car is took less than 10 minutes when walking or when know where it is. Reception staff lovely, man in dining room at breakfast not helpful but food good and coffee lovely.

We were thrilled with this hotel. Although the rooms are pretty standard - modern, clean - everything else is fantastic. The pool on the roof was exactly what we wanted, as were the luxurious sun lounger beds. The reception area was very stylish, with free internet and a nice lounge area. The garden is a breath of fresh air and the breakfast really nice. It's a bit more expensive than some other places we stayed on our trip, but worth paying the extra for a couple of nights.

Myself and my wife have just returned from a very enjoyable 2 weeks stay at Il Piccolo Giardino. The hotel is perfectly positioned to enjoy the 'buzz', shops, and restaurant life in Taormina, and is at the same time a little oasis of tranquility with its garden restaurant and breathtaking views from the rooftop pool. It enjoys an international clientele and we met Italians, French, Dutch, Spanish, and Belgiums (as well as English) during our stay.

The hotel interior is cool, modern, and contemporary. Our twin bedroom on the second floor (203) was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a walk-in shower, fridge, and safe.
Our air conditioning was excellent, the beds were comfortable, and the sheets and towels were changed regularly.

Breakfast was delightful, and we eat two lunches and two evening meals in the hotel and we rated the hotel food better than most of the surrounding restaurants.

On the whole we loved the hotel and can recommend it to anybody who chooses a central location. However - one snag, and a word of warning. Central locations are noisy, and unless you have a bedroom overlooking the garden you will have a back-street view, and you will certainly need a couple of ear plugs unless you are a very sound sleeper. Room 203 is classed as a standard room, and overlooks a noisy back street - a favourite spot for motor-scooters.

When Inghams Travel withdrew the Il Piccolo Giardino from their brochure I rearranged my booking through alpharooms.com and requested a room with a view. We paid alpharooms aprox £80 per night for 2 people, bed and breakfast. Taormina is very very expensive, and therefore the price we paid was very good value for such an excellent little hotel.

However, when I requested changing to a bedroom with a garden view this would
have cost an additional 50 euros per night (700 euros for 14 nights) and unless it was a 3rd floor bedroom there would have been no guarantee of a glimpse of the ocean.

Too expensive! Il Piccolo would then be in the same price range as much bigger hotels offering large pools and more facilities. So I recommend that if you book Il Piccolo you insist on a garden view room, and then compare prices. We visited a lot of hotels which were big, soul-less, and struggling, and some even charge extra for air conditioning. Nevertheless, some of the tour companies offer excellent half board option in the larger hotels, and since restaurants in Taormina are expensive and nothing like the same high standard we usually expect in Italy, half board option is well worth considering.

The best restaurant in Taormina is 'Trattoria de Nino' on the right hand side past the cable car lift. Good, but can be 'variable' when they get busy.

Our number one favourite is 'Pizzichella' on Spirggia Isola Bella beach - just below the cable car. Sun-bathe, have a swim, then treat yourself to lunch. Glorious mixed fried fish, swordfish cakes a specialty - and an excellent house white wine for 10 euros.
Go back in the evening and enjoy a glorious sea food pasta, watch the sun sink into the ocean, and the lights of Taormina above switched on one by one, like twinkling stars in the night sky. Magic!!! The food, the setting, the atmosphere.

If you are travelling independently no need to pay over 100 euros for a taxi from Catania Airport to Taormina. There is an airport bus which runs hourly Catania/Taormina return in the morning, and every two hours in the afternoon - 14 euros return trip.
Alternatively Thomson Holidays charge 20 euros for the return trip - best book on their website since my local Thomson Holiday Shop swore no such service existed unless you had booked an all inclusive Thomson holiday package.

To summarize - Sicily - wonderful, magnificent, stunning.
Taormina - sizzling, lively, an enchanting city.
Hotel Il Piccolo Giardino - a delightful hotel with personal service.

Go there in June or September/October - but be prepared to extend your budget.

Room Tip: Insist on a garden view - 2nd or 3rd floor.

Our second night here was excellent. We had a nice room with a balcony overlooking the garden which was very pleasant, although the lock on the balcony door was broken. Our first night was a different story. When we checked in we were given a "cell". I call it a cell because it was on a lower level, the only windows had their sills at the level of the street behind the hotel, did not open and had bars on them. The air conditioning was switched to heat and even when the management switched it to cool, it took a long time to cool the small room. the TV was a tiny (12"screen maybe) that was not connected to the hotel cable system and only got 4 local stations, poorly. The bathroom shower was contained by a plastic accordian curtain that rode in a track and leaked water everywhere. They agreed to move us for the second night, but when we came back from sightseeing they had forgotten to move our luggage, although we did find it in the original room and nobody else had been given the room yet. Information on the opening of tourist sites that we received from the desk was incorrect. Breakfast was good and in a pleasant room facing the garden. On the positive side, for a town so completely overrun with tourists and endless noise, the Piccolo Giardono, with its garden was an oaisis of calm.

I travelled with friends to attend a wedding in Sicily and found the Il Piccolo Giardino to be a very pleasent place to stay!

The roof top pool and sun loungers are lovely and the view is beautiful.

The buffet breakfast was servicable and there was always plenty available.

On a side note, I have friends who are staying in other hotels and they do not have a mini bar/fridge in the room which we found to be incredibly useful as we were travelling with small children.

Overall a hotel that I would definately reccomend.
