“"Fantastic apartment!"”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

This was our 3rd time in Taormina and we spent 18 wonderful days in apt C in August. I was amazed at the size of the apartment which was huge and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The apartment was very clean and fresh linens were provided weekly. The views from the terrace are simply breathtaking!! Views of Etna and Giardini Naxos. There are some steep steps to reach the Corso Umberto which can be quite tough but after a while you get used to them, (it’s a good way to keep fit after all that pasta and wine) Claudio was great he left us complimentary wine on arrival and was only a phone call away if you had any questions or needed advice. I would not hesitate to stay at Residence Schuler again and would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We have stayed in various apartments and hotels in Taormina over a period of 10 years and would like to say this is ... the best! We stayed in Apartment B for 3 people. A brilliant sized, well maintained apartment. The kitchen offers everything you need toaster, two coffee makers, kettle, hob and cooker. Claudio provides tea, coffee, sugar etc and a bottle of wine! If you arrive on a Sunday make sure you bring water and basic provisions as the supermarket closes at 12.30. The bedrooms are spacious but do get very hot in 40+ heat as the air conditioning struggles to cool the bedrooms. The bathroom was immaculate with a great power shower. The living area is spacious and clean. The garden balcony has beautiful views of Etna. There is a fantastic eating area for breakfast and glasses of wine! There is also an outdoor shower, fantastic after the trek back from the beach. The balcony also has a washing machine and sink. Taormina itself is fantastic. There are plenty of restaurants and we would highly recommend Shelter pizzeria and Pizzeria Vecchia. The supermarket is 5 minutes walk down steep steps. There is also a lovely bakery just next to the Piazza Duomo. The cable car runs every 15 minutes to the beach and costs 3 euros each way. At the beach you can sunbathe on the stony public beach or you can hire a lounger at the Pizzichella restaurant. These cost 15 euros a day for an umbrella and two loungers. This is also a lovely place for lunch overlooking Isola Bella. We travelled to Taormina with Thomson with a transfer for an extra £75 return. On arrival it took 3 and a half hours to reach Taormina (usually a one hour transfer) due to Thomson having coaches missing, people missing and reps having not arrived at the airport! Therefore we cancelled the return transfer and Claudio arranged a taxi for 80 euros. This transfer only took 45 minutes.Taormina is a beautiful place with fabulous people, food and weather. Residence Schuler is superb and we will be definitely returning next year!

My mum and I absolutely loved this place. We stayed in Apartment B in July and it was wonderful. Apartment B is a good size, immaculately clean and well-equipped. Spacious master bedroom; single bedroom is quite small, but has a big window so is still bright. The only thing I would add is air-conditioning in the bedrooms (it is available only in the living room/kitchen at the moment) because Sicilian summers are intense! ALL the windows and the patio doors have mosquito screens and there were also plug-ins and spray provided in case any of the little beasts did get in.

On the terrace there is a table and chairs, and deck chairs for lounging around. The view from the terrace is unbelievable at all times of day. Just beautiful.

Five mins to the excellent supermarket and to the start of Taormina's main street with its shops and restaurants. We did find the walk back to the apartment pretty exhausting in 40 degrees - it is not far at all, but it is up steps and then up a short, steep incline. That's the only way to get the amazing views though!

Overall this is one of the best places I have stayed, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. Signore Schuler was brilliant, only ever a phone call away if we needed anything. I wish I could go back this second!

If you are willing to brave the twisting mountain road to get to Residence Schuler, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view. Our apartment had a large terrace where we gathered in the evening to recount the adventures of the day, have a glass of wine (or two or three) and enjoy gazing at the sea below and Mt. Etna beyond. We were above the noise of the town but could easily walk there before the ships let their passengers out to march through the main shopping street. Claudio, who was born in Taormina, knew the best restaurants, shops and places of interest and was gracious about answering any questions we had. Enjoy!

This is a wonderful place to stay in one of the most beautiful cities in Taormina. The rooms are spacious and clean and the views of the Sicilian Coast and Mt. Etna are matchless. You are a bit removed from the noise and craziness that is Taormina; but close enough that a very short walk puts you in the heart of the town. Claudio Schuler is a generous and thoughtful host. His prices are more than reasonable - you get quite a deal for the Euros that you spend; and he knows the town and the surrounding cities well and was able to provide some terrific information.
Don't miss Taormina and don't miss Residence Schuller. In fact, don't miss Sicily.

Beautiful place. Great location. A group of nine friends took up 3 apts at Residence Schuler the first week of June. I was in the largest of the apartments with 4 women friends. The place was lovely and spacious, well appointed including the all-important washing machine and sparkling clean. The wonderful terraces where we gazed at the glorious views of the beaches below and the smoking Etna above also served as our evening gathering place for drinking fine Sicilian wine. Our host Claudio who lives on the premises was charming and helpful. He maintains a beautiful multi level garden that adds to the ambience. The location is minutes from a super market and from the town center via a set of steps that are fine going down but can be challenging on the return from a multi-course excellent meal. A trip to Castemola by taxi was well worth it....hard to imagine that the views could get more amazing, but from that spot you feel like you are in the clouds, though there were no clouds to speak of during our entire stay. Taormina is an extraordinarily beautiful place. The Greek theater is not to be missed. Residence Schuler, excellent place to stay, good value for the price. Saluti Caudio

Four of us stayed five lovely days in a two bed apartment in Residence Schuler. Our host, Claudio, arranged a taxi pick up from the airport to his door, an hour journey for a good price of €80, we reccommend this excellent service. There was a lovely bottle of wine as a welcome gift on the table, which we drank on the balcony, watching Mt Etna puff out white smoke all evening, and cruise ships arriving in the bay. The apartment was very clean, and a very generous size, with two bathrooms, two double bedrooms, a comfortable lounge and very well equipped kitchen, and even a washing machine. The rental charge was exactly as advertised, with no hidden extras, we really appreciated this. Claudio is a lovely gentleman, who lives in the building, and was available if needed with advice. We were ten minutes walk down steps from the town, and the main attractions. If you enjoy exercise, the 40 minutes climb up many steps to Castell Mola, a tiny village on top of the cliff over the town, is well worth it, and yor really earn your pizza at the top. If you want a beach holiday Taromina may not satisfy, as the walk to and from the cable car to reach the tiny beach is a bit of a trek on a hot day. Our best day ever was spent on a tour of Mt Etna area with Eddy, of Lengendary Sicily, Eddy was the perfect guide, because of his deep knowledge and love of the area, its history and geology.
