“Wedding day of our dreams”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

Where do I start?!

What an amazing hotel. We had our Irish wedding here with 60 guests in June 2014 and it was perfection personified.

Location:
Right in the middle of Corso Umberto, El Jebel has the most spectacular roof top area. We had our drinks reception & cutting of the cake up here & our guests were awestruck by the views. Mt Etna & the Ionian Sea provided an amazing backdrop to our special day.

Food:
The food was exquisite!

Staff:
Having travelled extensively I can honestly say that the staff at El Jebel were the best I have ever encountered. The attention to detail was phenomenal. This is where the hotel really stands out; Salvatore, Roberta, Antonio, Rita (more on her later....!) and all the other staff help make our dream day a reality. Every request was catered for.

Wedding planner:
Rita, our Godsend from El Jebel spent 14 months planning our big day with us. No mean feat considering we are based in Australia. No ask was too small or too large. She really went above and beyond. An all round star, she maintained the utmost professionalism at all times while in the process becoming a friend.

Additionally, Rita fulfilled every wish a Bride could ever have, she really took the time to get to know the details that mattered to me (no matter how small!)

The church music was magical, the hair and make up artist was able to do the exact style I wanted from a few pictures, the flowers were the exact style and shade I was looking for, the band had everyone dancing and the cake was fantastic!

As a wedding location I could not recommend El Jebel highly enough. Thank you for making our day so magical.

We have stayed in many 5 star hotels - most of them huge grand palace style venues. El Jebel is extraordinary as it's a 5 star hotel with only 10 rooms. The result of this is that the 5 star service is much more discrete and personal. You ask for something at the reception desk and it just happens - instantly! None of the usual delays you can encounter in much bigger hotels and - extraordinarily you hardly ever see a member of staff. The room we were given on the third floor was just beautiful. Perfectly appointed and everything you could ever wish for. The only little disadvantage of the hotel catering for ten rooms is that the breakfast buffet is not anywhere near as comprehensive as you would find in most other hotels of this standard - only really three choices on the menu and the breakfast buffet itself was really sparse. However, everything they offer is just perfect and we did not find this a problem. The location of El Jebel makes it about the very best choice in the whole of Taormina as it seems to be the only 5 star quality hotel which is right in the middle of everything. House keeping was just wonderful and seemed to happen as if by magic as soon as you left the room yet we never saw anyone doing it. The few members of staff we actually encountered were World Class in every area. The front desk staff - and in particular the wonderful Antonio - made us feel very much at home and made our stay even more memorable. This hotel is a real find and I cannot fault it on anything. If you are going to Taormina then make this your number one choice.

We recently stayed for 5 nights at the El Jebel for our wedding which also meant all of our guests occupied the whole hotel for 2 nights at the end of May. This was not the first time we had visited the El Jebel but the first time staying; and it was the best. We have stayed at other hotels in Taormina that are 4 star and 5 star and this is by far the best.

Location:

The El Jebel is perfect for everything; late night strolls, early morning attraction spootting, cafe hopping and ice cream tasting as it is right in the centre; but also set back so extremely private. It is also I think at the better end of Taormina with the best restaurants, lovely piazzas and better shops.

The rooms:

All the rooms are very well appointed. We stayed in the top suite which is magnificant; but all the other rooms are all beautiful, clean and luxurious. All of our guests noted how wonderful their rooms were and we were very well looked after there. The bathrooms are easily the best in Taormina and the products (all El Jebel own) are lovely scented and excellent quality. The views are really stunning and you realy do feel special staying here. The room has excellent facilities such as state of the art TVs, comfortable and sylist furniture and well operating air conditioning. Basically everything you would expect from a 5 star; but the only one in Taormina which we have found actually does deliver all of this.....

Food:

Breakfast is lovely as they actually cook to order the eggs; which doesnt happen even at other 5 stars in Taormina. Every day we had perfectly cooked omelettes and poached eggs. They have a vast array of things you could choose from. They do also have a continental buffet which is the style of most hotels but the El Jebel did stand out as they had this cooked fresh element which made all the difference.

Please try the onsite restaurant also; Campioni; as this is really top notch. It is lovely and private which distinguishes it from other restaurants in the area and the food is exceptional.

Staff:

What transforms this hotel from a great 5 star to the best is the staff. Everyone from the cleaning staff, to the waiters, reception etc are all second to none. To mention a few that really made our stay amazing was Antonio; he really is an asset to the hotel; Marco (excellent barman) and Diego and of course Rita. Without Rita the wedding wouldnt have been such a success. She is a little angel.

What is special about the El Jebel?

It is a unique place; if you want an unforgettable experience then book here. I cannt recommend highly enough for a wedding also; it made our day.

Other small touches that set it apart are the things like a room weather card which tells you what the weather will be the next day which is great for planning what to do!

in summary; the hotel runs like clock work; it is a stress free and wonderful experience. We cannot wait to return for anniversaries.

We recently had our wedding reception at El Jebel and couldn’t recommend this venue more highly!! On the day, we were fortunate to have lovely weather and were able to make use of both the beautiful roof terrace and restaurant. The food was divine, beautifully presented and had generous servings – we even had guests devastated that they couldn’t try more dishes on the day having filled up on earlier courses! However, what truly made this an incredible experience was the event manager, Rita. She is lovely to deal with, has impeccable taste, is organised and has a real eye for detail. The wedding cake, flowers and settings she selected for us were absolutely stunning and thank you Rita for providing us with the perfect wedding day.

Just returned from a 5 day visit in Sicilia – the last night was spend at the Hotel El Jebel. I stayed with my wife and elderly parents in 2 very nice and very unique rooms.

This fantastic and very extraordinary little hotel is one of the most unique hotel experiences I have had. Unfortunately, we had just on night at Hotel El Jebel, but what a fantastic place. The hotel and particularly the staff, have somehow redefined the meaning of hospitality. There are just 10 rooms, but all room numbers have been removed, because at Hotel El Jebel they do not want their guest to be known as a number but as who we are; their guests - real persons, not by a number! Think that it says it all. However, the roof terrace, the uniquely decorated rooms, the restaurant and the lovely Sicilian foods and wines they are serving are in itself worth to experience – but the staff, they makes this place very very special!

Thanks for taking good care of us and making our visit to Taormina such a pleasant surprise, we cannot wait to be back.

Room Tip: If possible please go for the top floor – some of the rooms will offer you the most fantastic view

After nearly an hour of the sat-nav trying to find the hotel we resorted to calling them and they sent some one to guide us in. You have to park in a multi-storey car park approx 500m from the hotel. The hotel itself set back from one of the main pedestrian streets and once checked in you are ideally placed to explore Taormina.
We had booked a Classic Double room which was relatively small and quite dark. After some haggling with the management we upgraded to a suite for a small supplement which was a great improvement. The hotel itself is land locked and only the upper floors have any sort of view. There is a roof garden but no real facilities for sun bathing or drinks.
The dinning room and lounge are delightful but save for breakfast both seemed to be deserted most of the time and hence were not inviting.
This hotel with only 10 rooms could be so much more if only the management could contrive to encourage people to use the facilities of the hotel more rather than to use it as a stopping off point.

Room Tip: If you want a view go for rooms on the second floor upwards. The extra to move up to a suite is wort...

Best hotel in Taormina. They are super nice, from the guy that came to the parking to pickup our luggages (sorry so many), to Fabio and Antonio, always available to suggest things to do, to all the staff. We got drinks while waiting for our room to be ready, we were very early. The breakfast is amazing, all ingredients very good quality, eggs cook to perfection and service again amazing. The room are beautiful and super clean, can't ask for more.

The view from the terrace is beautiful and ... you have to try it.

Thanks Again to All
