Situated on the top roof at the main pizza, overlooking the Taormina Bay and erupting Etna - Ristorante Baronessa has an atmosphere few can match. But the style is old fashioned. Can they continue for long without softening the "hieratic structure of servants"? We enjoyed the well prepared meal - our best in Taormina. Meat made to specifications and wine well matched to our dishes. But the dessert was average, and at a total cost of EUR 250 for four adults (including ProSeco, red wine and dessert wine) it comes in as expensive.

We spotted the rooftop terrace from the Wundebar on the square below. At first we were a bit hesitant as the appearance of the restaurant is a bit 'expensive'. When we checked the prices at the door the prices were high, but not unaffordable. So we decided to have dinner and enjoy the views. The food was very good as was the service. I liked the fact that my wife got a menu without prices, however when the desert menu came the menu had prices.

There are a lot of waiters and staff and in the beginning it felt a bit rushed. We did get a larger table on the edge of the terrace and once we settled in the speed slowed. The restaurant has a nice selection of wines. We opted for a bottle of Quarter (made of 4 Sicilian grapes). The wines are on the expensive side, ours was 42 euro. The view from the restaurant is spectacular and once it went dark we could see Etna glow in the distance.

In conclusion it was a nice dinner, romantic location, nice attention to detail and fantastic views. There were little things that could be improved but overall it was a nic experience and I would definitely return or recommend.

To everyone passing by in Taormina or staying for a few days : please go and eat at Baronessa! You will not regret it; The service is excellent, the vue astonishing, the food is sublime, the staff extremely professional and personal. We had dinner more then once during our week's stay with our 5 year old son Milo and we were treated like kings. Special attention was given to our son Milo as well. It is hard to find a restaurant like that anywhere in the world...

Excellent restaurant with first class service. Great menu and comprehensive wine list in a stunning location overlooking the bay.Would recommend booking at weekends especially if you would like a table overlooking the bay. Far superior to the many tourist restaurants in Taormina. With some decent wine the bill was around €250 for two. Thoroughly recommended

The Ristorante Baronessa is a fantastic restaurant on the roof top of a beautiful old palazzo right on the main thoroughfare of Corso Umberto in Taormina. I had booked dinner at the Baronessa for our wedding anniversary and it was every bit as special as I had wished for.

After traipsing up the grand stair case to the 4th floor roof top the view quite literally took the last of our breath away. We had arrived early to catch the sunset and were shown to a perfect table in an outer corner with an unobstructed view down the coast and across to Etna. It is probably one off the most beautiful places we have eaten at with at least three bells towers in close proximity around us and with wisps of steam drifting off Mount Etna as the sun dropped over the horizon.

As the light faded and the city and bell tower lights began to glow it was the perfect romantic setting.

Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions, information on the dishes on the menu, and local knowledge. The wine list would surely keep most people happy. We tried a few unusual starters eg raw fish and chocolate with some more traditional nicely presented main courses….we found all staff genuinely attentive and professional which complemented the thoroughly memorable experience.

A perfect evening.... unforgettable view
