This hotel was phenomenal!! The service was top notch and the property is just breath taking. As others have mentioned the annex building is also beautiful and some of the views better than the main building. You really cannot beat the location for a relaxing getaway!!

Room Tip: Top Floor of the Villa Flora has the best views with a private patio.

We stayed there in mid june for 3 nights (at Villa Flora, which is a kind of next-door building). The hotel is beautiful, the views are amazing, and the service is impeccable. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic and the location is ideal (right by the theather and a few meters from Corso Umberto). The only flaw is the bathroom: the water temperature in the shower is not very stable (keeps changing from too hot to too cold...)...

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We stayed here for 4 days in June and had a great time. The service was exemplary and the concierges Stephen and Simona go out of their way to help you. Whether you are in the annex or the main building, the rooms are very well appointed and do not disappoint. In the annex, the only thing is that you may not have a great view. Would gladly return to the Hotel Timeo!

Of course, you have to be able to afford it, but, if you can, this place is 5-star all the way. Try to get a room on one of tge upper floors if you can, with a sea view.

We stayed here for five nights earlier this month and were lucky enough to have a suite (room 118) which overlooked the beautiful gardens with views of the town and out to sea. The position is ideal for exploring all that the town has to offer but set so that the hotel is an oasis of calm when required.
The room was spacious, light and airy and very well appointed; complimentary wine and pastries on arrival, mineral water left each evening, and a selection of top end toiletries. Housekeeping was unobtrusive, efficient and twice daily. Loved the linen sheets!
All of the staff were very efficient but in such a charming way that we were made to feel totally at ease, nothing was too much trouble for anyone. They have all been trained to engage with the guests, joining in friendly conversation and banter without being over familiar and it works very well. For instance, Stephen the concierge is a real showman, and his recommendations for restaurants and activities were excellent, and Manuela who showed us around on our first day and who was also on duty the day we left, sought us out to say goodbye and to make sure we had enjoyed our stay - that was lovely. Pancrazio, who served us lunch by the pool a couple of times is a real star, as are Luigi and Veronica, in fact all the staff are wonderful.
One of the real delights of the hotel is that even though its a five star with an international clientele, it remains Sicilian - all too often in a top hotel you can lose touch with the local area but not here and the pride in that shows through.
The partnership with the Villa Sant'Andrea is a real bonus, as whilst the Timeo pool area is very good, it is lovely to be able to use the beach and swim in the sea too. The complimentary shuttle is a real plus.
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to an early return.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main building.

From the moment we got to the hotel, the service was satisfactory. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and the view from the hotel over the ocean and the bay was straight up awesome. The food at the lunch salad bar was great. The location was slightly difficult for us to get to at first since we were driving, but the hotel is perfectly placed right next to an old Greek theater and on the top of a hill right in the little town. There are great restaurants almost everywhere within walking distance. It's a little pricy, but still a great experience.

The Hotel

The Grand Hotel Timeo is a beautiful building in a wonderful location. The standard of decor and cleanliness is first class. Our room, a Deluxe Junior Suite with balcony and sea view, was exceptionally well-appointed, attractively furnished, light and airy, with stunning views. We loved the recent changes to both the restaurant and the bar. The pool area is one of the best we have experienced and the gardens are very attractive.

The Staff

This is an area of very great strength for the Timeo. From the Hall Porters, to every Chambermaid we met, to Reception, the Concierges and the Waiting staff, there is a welcome air of polite friendliness which is both genuine and welcoming. We were frequently addressed by name, and with an impressive recall of details such as precise beverage choice at breakfast, the timing of the turn-down service, to our preferred beds by the pool. This enables the guest to feel at home very quickly, which is key to the enjoyment of a relatively short stay. Pancrazzio and his poolside team do a fantastic job. Their attention to detail and responsiveness to service requests is the best we have ever experienced. We also feel we have come to know the whole team very well, given their willingness to "chat informally" to the guests. Domenico should also be singled out for excellent service in the Dining Room - not to mention his sense of humour!

The Service

Given the quality of the staff, the desire to provide a top quality service is perhaps not surprising. Our expectations on this front were frequently exceeded. For example, on arrival I realised that I had left my zipper jacket at the Cipriani. Our Receptionist, Sebastian (I think), was very prompt in contacting the Cipriani, providing a full description of my jacket which then subsequently arrived by courier to the Timeo three days later. Very impressive! Our room was also maintained to a very high standard twice a day. The shuttle service to the sister hotel, Villa Sant Andrea, was also first-class, in terms of promptness, comfort and the courtesy of the drivers. The Restaurant service, Reception, Housekeeping and the Concierge are all first-rate. The staff genuinely seem to enjoy their work and take pride in the hotel. They are also more than very tolerant when faced with less polite/very demanding guests!

The Food

The food at the Timeo is outstanding in terms of quality, quantity, presentation, hygeine and choice. If any guest should leave the table dissatisfied, it is entirely their own fault. We certainly never did!

Villa Sant Andrea

We visited Villa Sant Andrea, specifically to use the beach. The Beach Concierge and staff were excellent. They simply could not do enough to make your stay comfortable, in terms of bed position, towels, refreshments and shade. The service was very responsive, personal and friendly - who could ask for more? The outside of the hotel itself was very attractive with very many floral displays, and the extensive gardens leading up from the beach are beautiful. The bar terrace area is very inviting and the changes to the beach bar/seating area looked very attractive and were very comfortable to use.

Value for Money

Without doubt, the Timeo is not a low-cost holiday experience, but then you know that from the outset. The most important thing is that given the very high standards achieved across the board, one leaves feeling completely satisfied on all fronts and that money has been well spent.

The perfect weather was, of course, an added bonus, while Taormina is a very quaint and interesting Sicilian town with an impressive range of restaurants and shops for evening entertainment. Until this most recent holiday, both my wife and I would have said that Le Sirenuse in Positano was the best hotel we had ever stayed in, closely followed by both the Cipriani (in Venice) and the Grand Hotel Timeo. However, in our poinion, the Timeo has taken the top spot. I would highly recommend it to any of our friends and business associates!
