“Clean, Friendly hotel with stunning views”
Reviewed 16 June 2012

Stayed in this hotel as part of a family group with five adults and three babies (one six months and twins of ten months).
The hotel was clean, modern and comfortable. We had a balcony with a fantastic sea view.
The restaurant was large and the staff very friendly and tolerant of the children who have a bad habit of throwing food on the floor.
One criticism is they have only one high chair!
The pool was brilliant.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view - its worth it

Although we stayed here a year ago, I thought I'd leave it a quick review. On arriving at the hotel the scenic drive up the edge of the cliff was breathtaking and the hotel's location, with views down and out to the sea was wonderful.

The room we had booked originally had no balcony and there were stains on the bed covers. We mentioned this and they quickly changed us into a room with a balcony and a nice view of both the sea and the town, which lit up magnificently at night. The room itself was basic but functional. The floor was tiled and there was a working t.v with BBC news and other Italian channels. The shower was decent and powerful and the air conditioning worked grand.

There is wi-fi available throughout the hotel at a price - you buy minutes at the counter. It is expensive (I would dare say overpriced) for the amount of time you get. That irked me.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the pool area divine and tranquil with plenty of flowers and greenery, with some old architecture on site retaining the cultural aspect of the area. Dining at the hotel is nice. There is a wonderful evening atmosphere with candles and soothing music in the al-fresco dining area. Late in the evening there is music entertainment and sometimes lights. The food itself, in my personal opinion, was basic but I am finicky when it comes to food so don't take my word for it. However the breakfast was fantastic! A huge selection between hot and cold foods. One of the rare times on holidays I've actively wanted to get up for breakfast.

The staff were all pleasant and interested to help. The manager ordered a pizza for us on request one of the evenings we stayed in the hotel.

The hotel is situated close to the town of Taormina but requires a small (nothing too intense) uphill walk. Be sure to bring your best evening clothes when you go to town because everybody is out in their best... The town has a load of restaurants to choose from (there's one on the way up overlooking the coast, I'd recommend there!) and boutiques and souvenir shops. The hotel also offers day excursions which can be organised at reception and is situated below the amazing Greek theatre which you must visit at some point.

Taormina itself is not the most exciting place I've been, but if you've your mind set here then the Hotel Ariston is definitely a worthy contender for your place to stay.

Room Tip: A balcony is a must.

Highly recommended hotel!
The only warning must be issued to visitors:
Do not try to approach hotel by car! There is NO parking and access is very difficult for car larger than compact size.
Instead bring your luggage to the left corner inside of the bus station and call hotel by intercom for the shuttle. Then look for the parking! We found one in 10 min walk distance. About 12 euro per night. That’s why I qualified this hotel only as very good.

I suggest hotel to provide visitors with GPS coordinates for parking locations.

Also the walls between rooms were very thin.

One week in may 2012! Wow!
From day one in the entrance, to our last day in the same entrance, everything was one big, incredible, smiling experience.
Carmelina in the reception, was a wonder of knowledge. Where to have the greatest pizza, what to do in Castelmola, whatever we asked for, she had answers. And good ones too!
And the position of the hotel! Magic!
We most certainly advice all Taormina-visitors: Chose this hotel! You wouldn't regret it.
But don't forget booking a room with a view. Seaview!

My partner and I recently stayed at this delightful hotel for a week. From our friendly and efficient reception to our reluctant leaving a week later we experienced nothing but the very highest of service from a dedicated and obviously well motivated/happy staff team.
Our balcony room overlooking the wide sweeping bay/the welcoming touches of fresh fruit and bubbly/the extensive well maintained gardens and swimming pool/the various attractive bars/the excellent daily room service and in particular the outstanding restaurant and its super efficient helpful staff all combined to create a truly memorable holiday. Many thanks.

Room Tip: Pay a tad extra for a room with a balcony overlooking the bay.

We just got back from an enjoyable weeks stay at Hotel Ariston. A conveniently located hotel-just behind the bus station, 2 mins from the cable car station and 5 mins from the centre of Taormina. The hotel has beautiful gardens and a large outdoor pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful particularly the gentleman on reception.

The buffet breakfast offers a choice of cold meats, cheeses, eggs, yoghurt, fruit, fresh orange juice. Also delicicious pastries particularly the chocolate chip brioche rolls.

The rooms were clean, modern and well decorated. We had a breathtaking view from our balcony of the bay.The only down side we found was that the walls were very thin and we could hear neighbours either side of us taking a shower. But the beautiful view from the balcony and the hotel gardens made up for it.

We spent 7 nights at the Ariston and had a lovely time. The bedroom was huge and very comfortable. Great food and plenty of choice for breakfast. We were on a B&B basis but took lunch at the hotel a couple of times and the food was great. Outside the grounds are beautifully landscaped with lovely sea views and a fab pool (though very deep so wouldn't recommend it for families with smal children as there wasn't an alternative that they could use). Literally a couple of moments away from the bus station which is useful if intending to travel either by public transport or on organised excursions as they all leave from here. The town centre "corso umberto" is only about five minutes walk away with loads of restaurants and fab shops set amongst beautiful architecture and piazzas. Access to the hotel is either by elevator or by several flints of steps, but this seems characteristic of many of the hotels in Taormina. Something to bear in mind if you have mobility problems. Indeed the whole of Taormina is steep so there is a lot of uphill walking which some hotel guests found a bit challenging. All in all we thought this was a great choice if hotel. The only one criticism we had was that the evening "entertainment" in the bar which consisted of a medley of 60s numbers sung by a local pianist wasn't our thing but each to their own eh!
