We were moved to this hotel after our Top to Toe of Italy tour with no explanation (well, we will get one) and it didn't disappoint at all. It was right in the middle of Taormina (well 5 minutes walk which is nothing), very quiet with spectacular views. Very clean and friendly staff. The food was excellent - a very comprehensive buffet of local food each night. Couldn't fault it at all.

We returned from this beautiful hotel yesterday and have decided this is one of the best hotels for service, cleanliness and position we have been to in a long time. I loved everything about it, although the pool was too deep for my confident swim across. We watched others and it looked really beautiful.
We both had been to Taormina before in the middle of August 2011 but stayed in a hotel down the road. Because it was extremely hot we did not see much of Taormina, so this is why we returned.
The staff are so helpful and smart in their suits and really nice to see the returning visitors being acknowledged for their return trips to the Hotel Ariston. I like that in Hotel staff, it makes you feel very welcome. I hope that will be the same if we return.
Food was plentiful with so much choice, even at breakfast. Waiters and Restaurant managers very attentive.

Thank you so much Hotel Ariston for such a lovely relaxing stay with you.

Arrivederci
Jan

Room Tip: W did pay for a sea view, but on arrival found we had that and a balcony on the second floor

We stayed at the Ariston hotel for two nights, last weekend, apart from being a very nice and clean hotel with vast gardens it is not in the center, therefore price was cheap compared to other hotels, it is however a 5 minute walk to the Arco di Messina, so if you don't mind walking while taking in the breathtaking view i suggest this hotel.
Another plus to this hotel is that as soon as you go out of it there is a bus terminal therefore no need to go crazy looking for a bus.
The staff is very courteous and the view from our room was amazing, it was like being in a dream.
Breakfast us abundant and there was a huge selection of food. I was always having a dilemma whether i would have an English breakfast or the nice croissants, in the end i settled for a bit of both! The macchiato coffee was to die for.
Will definitely visit this hotel again if i have the chance.

Room Tip: We stayed in a triple room, it was without balcony but the view more than compensated for that.

We spent a week at this lovely hotel. It is next to the bus station (all excursions start and end here and there is a good service to other towns); and is a 5 - 10 min walk from the town - you have a choice of 2 very nice routes into town, one through the communal gardens. The staff are lovely - really helpful and the restaurant, pool and gardens are great. We were a bit disappointed in our room - similar to a Travel Inn or Premier Inn but it had all the facilities you needed and the whole place was very clean. We wished we had paid more for a sea view - our balcony had a glimpse of the sea to the side but was only a few feet away from the cliff face so didn't get much sun. There is a steep climb to the entrance of the hotel and then a choice of about 100 steps or the lift - we really enjoyed climbing the stairs each day. The breakfasts were great and a more limited breakfast was available when we had very early starts. The Sicilian buffet was also very good on the evening we went, though we hardly heard the musicians as they finished playing by 8pm. We would definitely go back to this hotel, we felt very at home there but would pay for an upgraded room next time.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view

A wonderful hotel with very friendly staff and fantastic food. It's location is amazing with great sea views and positioned right next to the bus station. It is also only a 5min walk to the cable car down to Mazzaro/Taormina Mare and a short walk to the corso umberto. We first stayed at the Hotel Ariston in 2005 when ours friends got married in Taormina. We loved it so much we returned in 2010 for our honeymoon and we are so excited to be returning next week (june 2014). We would definately recommend the Hotel Ariston which could only enhance your stay in beautiful Taormina.

This was a pleasant hotel in many ways. It was conveniently located near the bus station - useful as many trips had a 7am start. It was possible to walk easily to either end of town - up to the Messina gate or down a little and then across to Piazza IX Aprile. The latter route also led to the delightful Public Gardens with fine views towards Etna and Southwards along the coast. Lovely views from the bar terrace, restaurant, and particularly the lounge. Also from the front rooms though we had a back room that looked out on a rock face. The pool area was lovely, and the pool a good size though a little chilly in early May. There was a good choice of food for breakfast, and evening meals were competitively priced for Taormina (not a cheap place).

Reception was helpful, and even managed to book a Sunday trip for us that we didn't ask about until about 9pm on Saturday!

The room was clean, and an adequate size though I personally found the bed very hard.

A few little grumbles:
1) Bed was very hard as mentioned above
2) There are 92 steps up from the bus station to reception. There was a lift but there is still a slope and 17 steps to reach this, and on several occasions during our stay it wasn't working. This meant going back down the 17 steps and up the 92! I think you might mention this in your publicity or get a more reliable lift.
3) The wifi didn't work

Nevertheless an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Probably worth going for a sea view. Other rooms look out on a rock face.

We recently spent a week in this hotel in Taormina. Our room had a sea view and a small balcony. The sea view was stunning. The hotel was spotless. Bathrobes are available but have to be asked for. Despite paying for wifi, this was only available in public areas, with no in room access. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was varied, offering both hot and cold choices, obviously catering for the diversity of nations holidaying here. Supper menu was again a buffet, again with a variety of hot and cold choices. Lovely desserts.the hotel is a short walk from the town centre
There are quite a few steps to climb, even before the lift to the reception area is reached. The swimming pool is very deep and not really suitable for young children. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Pay the small additional charge for the sea view. Third floor has the best balcony, but second floor...
