“What a find!!!!”
Reviewed 14 October 2011

We drove into Taormina and as the streets got narrow and steeper we made the turn around at the first gate into the old city and went back down to the parking garages and I suggested to my wife that if I found a place on the street to stop she should hop out and check out the Ashbee. PERFECT, This place has onsite parking and is just at the edge of the action. It is quiet, the views are super the room is modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful when the weather is good eat out on the patio. The staff are also perfect. It is a bit of a walk up the hill to the first gate but well worth it as the town is not that large unless you have really bad knees ( mine are not so great) it was no big deal. There is daily newspapers, english TV and just about everything you could ask for. I give it a 12 out of 10 top drawer all the way. If you have anything bad to say about this place you don't travel much or are very picky! We came for one night and spent 3.

We spent five lovely days at this hotel. It is boutique in size and style, with beautiful rooms and public spaces. Antiques abound and set an elegant tone for this newly opened hotel. At the Port Messina end of Corsa Umberto one is spared the the long climb involved from other Taormina establishments. Our suite was in the main building and was spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast outside was a treat as were the Sicilian cakes and pastries. Plentiful advice from very friendly staff who provided restaurant and other recommendations. The pool was too inviting to entice us to use the beach club/s associated with the hotel. The gift of perfumed room scent used in the hotel at departure topped off a perfect stay. My only advice ( for this and other Sicilian hotels) is an iron please!

My family and I have just returned from this hotel and I would highly recommend it. The location of the hotel is perfect for the Corsa Umberto, and it is a gem.
It has absolutely breathtaking view, and the breakfast buffet is delicious.
The staff were so helpful and engaging, without being intrusive.
The rooms were decorated and furnished to a very high standard, our family had a standard room and a superior room (which had an extra bed in for my daughter).
We travelled with our 3 children - and were made to feel at home.
The rooms were sound-proofed thus ensuring a great night sleep.
It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location.
I would definately return.

Room Tip: The downstair superior rooms have a veranda, which was lovely to sit with a drink. The upstairs onl...

What a great hotel on a beautiful location.
This is a hotel that I can highly recommend to everybody.
The hotel was opened a year and a half ago. The rooms are all very nicely done with all necessary facilities. The hotel has rooms ranging from standard (small about 25m2) to superior to luxury suites all very comfortable and affordable.

The staff is very proud of their hotel and show this in their excellent service to their guests. You are really made felt at home.

The location of the hotel is on a mountain side overlooking the sea.
The hotel has a four star rating but is in my opinion comparable to the better five star hotels.
Breakfast is wonderful and can be taken outside on the terrace overlooking the bay.

In may 2012 the hotel also expects to open a restaurant and will then most probably earn a five star rating.

I will certainly come back.

Room Tip: Have dinner at Trattoria da Nino. It is a five minute walk from the hotel and you will not regret it...

We had a very nice time at the Ashbee hotel, nice and clean rooms, good service (sometimes a bit slow), very good breakfast buffet and great views of the bay. Also very conveniently located as 2 minutes away from Corso Umberto where all the shops and restaurants are.

Room Tip: We had a superior room which offered a very nice terrace

A lovely, well managed, small, hotel in a great location. How good can it get? The service was impeccable. Irene at the front desk had fantastic recommendations for dining. (don't miss Villa Antonio for dinner) Maurizio provided fantastic service at breakfast and at the pool. This is an antique Villa that has been exquisitely renovated. The rooms are a little on the small side, but very well designed and comfortable. The outdoor space and pool area are beautiful. The villa is high above the sea with a fabulous view. The Ashbee has agreements with a few of the beach clubs, so they provide transportation for the short ride to the beach. We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our stay at The Ashbee. The entire time we were there, we saw only couples. On our last day, a couple and their two small, screaming, squealing, children were at the pool and changed the entire experience for everyone. My only suggestion to The Ashbee would be to limit the age of their guests to 12 years and above. The hotel and the pool area is intimate, so it is impossible to get away from noisy children! ( I have two children and I love children, but this is not a hotel for children)

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the original Villa.
