We spent one week of vacation in Taormina and stayed at the Villa Ducale. The warm and very friendly welcome was just the beginning of a great stay. The view is just great! You really feel that the people working there (especially Alessia, Santi, Antonio and the driver of the shuttle) do their best to assure that you have a great time there.
The rooms are modern and very clean, quite small though (standard room). The breakfast buffet, the free afternoon tea with the Sicialian pastry assured that we left the place with a few additional pounds on our hips -- just delicious. The daily bruschette and other small appetizers (free) were great together with our daily 'aperitivo'.
The hotel is not close to the heart of Taormina but there's a free shuttle service to the town and to the beach as well. The Hotel Villa Ducale is totally worth the money.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Villa Ducale for four nights during our recent tour of Sicily. From the very fist moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. we were personally welcomed and a thorough and wonderful explanation of the Hotel and surrounding area was explained. We walked the many steps down into Taormina several times and also used the Hotel shuttle for some trips. The staff was perhaps the best we ever encountered anywhere. We were made to feel at home each and every time we stepped into the reception/restaurant area. The view was absolutely fantastice, meals were always a treat. One night, we arranged a special dinner which was not only romantic as we watched the day turn into night, the food was spectacular. We will absolutely return to Hotel Villa Ducale someday, hopefully sooner rather than later. This is truely one very special place, one of the best we have ever stayed at. THANKS to everyone!!

We recently visited the Hotel Villa Ducale in Taormina, Sicily. Despite visiting Italy many times before (our favourite destination in the world!) we have never visited Sicily. What a wonderful trip we had. We loved Taormina but most of all we loved the Hotel. It is fairly small which suits us both very well, beautifully appointed high above the town, the decor, furnishings, rooms, views, restaurant, food etc are all FIRST CLASS but most important of all is the helpful and friendly staff from owner to the lovely maid who cleaned our room, nothing is too much trouble for them, they want to help you in any way to make your stay in their Hotel the most memorable ever. Many Hotel owners could learn a lot from spending one hour at the Villa Ducale in how to make their clients feel very special indeed. You really must go!

Room Tip: As far as I am aware all the rooms and suites have a view of the stunning coastline and Mount Etna a...

We chose this hotel through the research on trip advisor. All the comments were so positive we felt it must be somewhere very special and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we knew this was a very special place.
Within 5 minutes of arriving our car was parked, luggage taken to our room and more importantly we were enconsed on the terrace with a welcome glass of prosecco. Santi who welcomed us provided all the local information we needed . The hotel bus shuttle, or a path to walk to the town if so desired. They even recommended a superb local Trattoria. Saying that we did dine on the terrace one evening at Villa Ducale, a very enjoyable experience with the perfect combination of sublime views and gorgeous pasta.

Our room enjoyed one of the best vistas we have ever experienced with views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. As for the facilities in our spacious room we could not fault. Towels , furnishings, bath/spa products were all first class. Even plentiful wardrobe space.

Villa Ducale feels like a Family home and you were greeted every morning with a cheerful enthusiastic Good Morning. the staff spoke excellent English and were on hand to answer any query or offer advice.

We shall certainly return and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Villa Ducale to anybody.

My wife & I stayed here on our honeymoon in August '05. It was our 1st stop (of 5) and the hotel, its staff, the surroundings and Catania in general really set our trip off on the right foot.
Our room was small - but this is Europe after all, but it was well-decorated, VERY cozy, comforting and comfortable. We had an EXCELLENT view of the water from the dining area as well as an equally great view of Mount Etna. It was obviously hot in August, but our room was comfortably climate controlled.

Service: I was shocked when, on our arrival, we didn't even have to park our car - let alone get the bags out. They took the keys from me (something I'm NOT used to as an American), emptied the several HEAVY bags, and parked the car for us...a HELL of a welcome!

The blood orange juice for breakfast - along w/ the complimentary breakfast buffet - was intriguing and delicious.
No real downsides I can think of at this hotel. Definitely recommended.

Dear guest from Bahrein,
it was truly a surprise to get a review from a guest who stayed at Villa Ducale over 7 years ago, it means that you have really a great memory !!!
We want to thank you for the many compliments you made to us, very appreciated. I would also point out that since then our hotel has become a luxury boutique hotel highly appreciated on Tripadvisor and that Villa Ducale since 2005 has improved a lot.
We are sure that if you stayed now you would certainly upgrade your mark from 4 to 5 !
GRZIE MILLE !
Kind regards,
Fam. Quartucci

My husband treated us to a "turning 60" awesome vacation in Sicily 4/27-5/12/12. Our last week was spent in Taormina at this fabulous little hotel. From the start- they greeted us by name, and Antonio went over the wonderful services that they provide to their guests. He said they like to make us "feel at home". Well if home could only be that wonderful! The services were above and beyond anything we've had at other hotels, the food was unbelievably good, and our suite was so nice. We were on the side of the street with the view of Calabria in the distance, which was quite beautiful too. We had our breakfasts, some teas and sometimes dinner at the hotel with the view of Mt. Etna. At night it was gorgeous seeing all of the twinkling lights of the villages/towns around Taormina. I want to say a special thanks to Manuel who was just the sweetest young man, and let us take his picture every night to send to a friend! All of the staff deserve our special thanks, but I'm unable to remember all of the names. Truly, we thought they were absolutely wonderful, and you can tell they enjoy their work- it's genuine warmth and caring in all that they do!

When you see a review with excellent in all catagories, your first instinct is to disregard it ; but not so of Villa Ducale. The setting of the property is nothing short of spectacular high above the beautiful town of Taormina, the sea and the magestic Etna. The room we had was on the main floor next to the beautiful breakfast, sitting room and our private balcony afforded us the same view.
The amenities of the villa were consumate .......virtually everything thought of including a complimentary breakfast the likes of which wève never seen.
All of the above was second only to the wonderful people who work there. Villa Ducale is the family home of the owner and her goal is to make everyone who visit feel like it was their home as well. They exceed that goal easily by not only accomodating every need but anticipating before you ask.
We have had the good fortune to have done some nice travelling over the last few years but nothing has been better than our stay at Ducale. We look forward to returning as soon as wère able.
If 5 stars is an excellent rating, Villa Ducale is a 6.
