Stayed here for second week of our honeymoon, and booked a suite.

from the moment we arrived the service, care and attention to detail was superb.

The staff really do go out of the way to make you feel welcome, with a lovely big glass of bubbly the moment you arrive... to a lovely parting gift when we left.

Our room was lovely, clean, and with beautiful decorative touches. We knew from the minute we arrived it was going to be a special week.

A courtesy bus takes you down to the main town, which was handy, as the hotel is nestled in the hills looking down on Taormina.

We ate in on two occassions, and the food was lovely, as was the hotels wine recomendations.

Breakfast was also very good, with a lovely spread of food, both hot and cold, and the views from the terrace where it is served are incredible.

Rooms also has free wi-fi, which was very handy.

We had a great great week, and would certainly recommend Villa Ducale.

What I mean to say is ' this hotel is class'. My wife and I finished off our Italian/Sicilian holiday with a 3 day stay in this hotel only to be treated like royalty. The staff are brilliant and you know that they take pride in their work because of the attention to detail. The breakfast is second to none - what a selection. We can highly recommend the home cooked meal request for the evening "OMG". Some reviews have noted the walk to the hotel in the evening up the steps is hard - yes it is, but we found it refreshing in the fact that you don't go to bed with a full belly from a night on the town and to be fair the hotel does provide a bus service if don't want to take the healthy option. What more can I say about this hotel but 'Brilliant - Outstanding - A touch of Class" They deserve there high ranking reviews because they earned it. Well done Villa Ducale and keep up the good work!!!!

A stay at the Hotel Villa Ducale has a downside all prospective guests need to be made aware of. A stay at this Hotel will destroy all future hotel experiences as none will compare to the warmth and hospitality of the Hotel Villa Ducale. It is a beautiful building with excellent amenities but what sets it apart is the staff. The Front Desk, the kitchen, housekeeping and porters will all make you feel as if you are the most important person in the world.

To all my fellow Australians considering visiting beautiful Taormina, do not bother considering any other hotel. The Hotel Villa Ducale is an oasis in the hills of Taormina. But be warned! Every hotel experience you have after staying here will be a sad disappointment.

Paolo, and all the guys, thank you for an amazing holiday!

Richard Hesketh - Australia.

The sense of bliss we feel, a few days after we have left this remarkable hotel, and the people that took so well care of us, is something one have to experience. Words and images can only hint towards the feeling.
To be able to set so strong footprints in our hearts, is to us a very rare quality of people that goes under the name of staff.

In addition to the friendly, fun, helpful and caring people, the hotel itself is a little wonder. Clean, thorough in design, warm and including in interior, practical and comfortable room and terrace, and with the marvellous upper terrace for breakfast and evening snacks together with other guests.

We had a delicious and tasteful dinner made for us one of our evenings. A two course meal of seafood made from local essentials, and prepared for us by their skillful chef. And though we are spoiled with seafood from birth, beeing both born in Lofoten/Norway, we were both struck upon how the simplicity of true Sicilian food, and locally produced wine, can make such a strong impact and taste in our mouths. Truly inspirational and we had a very lovely and romantic evening together.

The guys and girls working at the hotel was also very helpful before, during and upon leaving the Villa Ducale, and also when giving us advise upon what to see and do on our excursions to Syracusa and the Mt.Etna. Without this care and insight, we would not have got so much from our one day trips. They know both their country and their enviroment, as well as who to pick as a guide. We have to mention Edy, our guide at Mt. Etna, with whom we felt safe, hade fun, enriched our knowledge, and who had us smell, taste and feel what a Mountain like the one mentioned is made of. He is probably the best ambassadeur one can get for a local community and enviroment, as well as a fun and warm guy.

All our excursions was undoubtedly tailored for us, in order to make us have the most out of our eleven days at the Villa Ducale, and our one day excursions. And for this we would like to thank Paolo at the reception. He and his collegues gave us all from tips about where to eat the best ice cream in Taormina, to what to do in Syracusa.

If You should need a real retreat and want to give in to the warm and comfortable care of others, away from your everyday life, we would not hesitate to recommend you to put your trust in the people that make you feel strangely at home, and their unspoiled little space on this planet, the blissful Villa Ducale.

My girlfriend cried when we arrived, and when we left because she was overwhelmed at how gorgeous it was. We stayed in Taormina for two weeks, and we didn't want to leave. The staff were friendly, and very helpful with anything and everything we asked for. The views over the bay and to Mount Etna, were stunning, making the location great. It is a walk up the hill to get to the hotel, but the hotel provides transport for getting around, so it is not problem. Taormina is a beautiful town, and staying in the best hotel made it one of the best holidays. Having stayed at the hotel you can see why it is No1 on Trip Advisor.

This really is a very special experience. Perched on a high mountain overlooking Taormina, this is an exquisitely beautiful and characterful hotel. the rooms are superb and the views of Mount Etna and the bays are breathtaking. The thing that is perhaps most striking is the service. Each member of staff greets your personally and introduces him/herself in a very natural and un-forced way which makes you feel genuinely special. Whatever you need, they will sort it out for you, even arranging a personal shuttle down to one of the many lovely beaches and reserving a sunbed for you with one of their numerous contacts in all the right places.

I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. Quite superb! Thank you Lucca, Paulo and everyone else at the Villa Ducale.

For starters, this is easily the best hotel I've stayed in whilst in Italy - most of which have been 4-star.

The breakfast is phenomenal, and is enjoyed on a covered terraced area:
- 1 table consists of meats, antipasti, cereals and breads
- Hot containers have bacon, eggs, potato and pies
- There is a small cheeseboard containing usually 3 cheeses
- A choice of 4 or 5 juices
- And the table inside has 5 or 6 fruit choices and a further 5 or 6 pastry choices!

I had tirimasu for breakfast twice, for crying out loud. Fantastic! The only issue I had was with the profusion of wasps by the meats/antipasti (I'm phobic about them), but I that's mother nature for you. It didn't seem to bother most other guests.

The rooms are very well appointed, with Air Conditioning over which you have full control. There is a decent TV with Sky, and most major channels show the usual big US shows, and the signal usually carries the original English dub so long as you activate it. The balconies give you stunning views over Taormina and Etna. There's are nice jacuzzi showers in the en-suites too.

The staff are lovely and they make you feel like you're part of a large family, and are superbly friendly - you never feel like you're putting them out in any way. They help with transportation, an overview of the town and other serivces and tours. A great service!

The location isn't great if you want to be near the town itself, but the hotel offers a shuttle service, and the public transport is reliable and relatively cheap. Taxis aren't so cheap, though, and you're charged 15 Euros for a 10-minute journey (if even that). However, if it's peace and quiet you're after then this really hits the spot. You're 3 mins walk away from a superb restaurant too.

We had food there on a couple of occasions (through a menu available for most of the day), and that was fine. They have no restaurant per se, but that adds to the charm - you can eat on the terrace, or they'll set you up in the foyer.

There is no swimming pool, but there is a small jaccuzzi area - and they have a deal with a sister hotel in town for pool usage. You can also arrange a trip to the beach through reception.

My only major gripe is that I had to leave at all! I had a wonderful stay, and although it isn't inexpensive, I would definitely recommend you try it out - especially if you need a little pampering!
