Wow what a place we have just returned from having our very special wedding reception here, not one of our 40 guests had any reason to complain, the food was superb and on time as we were concerned having attended other weddings ourselves that there would be long delays between tables and courses being served, no such problem here all in our opinion was perfect and i can assure anyone reading this if anyone was going to complain about a restaurant it would be me as i do not tolerate expensive badly cooked food lightly, the chefs at this venue have been trained by the owner Lina's husband Massimo Mantarro chef at the San Dominica Hotel in Taormina and winner of the Gambero Rosso award 2011 all in all we had a wonderful experience and for the canapes champagne followed by four courses plus dessert buffet half a bottle of wine each, 50 beers and the most magnifcent wedding cake ever for 130 euros a head I say that's fantastic value for money, we can't wait to revisit as soon as we can, thankyou Lina and all the staff at Villa Antonio

We decided to hold our wedding reception at Villa Antonio. As you can imagine we were slightly apprehensive as we had not seen the restaurant or sampled the food before we flew out to Sicily. We met with Lina (the owner) a few days before the wedding to go through the menu and other details and instantly knew we were in good hands.

From the moment we arrived at restaurant to the time we departed we were made to feel like we were the only group in the restaurant. The service was impeccable, the waiters were very professional and operated like Swiss clockwork. We were never left waiting for more food or drink.

The food itself was amazing, every single guest had a favourite dish (the scabbard with onions got the most votes). The quality and freshness of ingredients was superb, the wines were absolutely perfect and complimented every course. They had made us a traditional Sicilian wedding cake which was out of this world. We just wish we had stomach's big enough to eat it all.

The restaurant itself is located on a hill overlooking one of the best views in Sicily (Isola Bella). Lina had reserved one of the terraces for our small party which meant we were not disturbed by the other group dining at the restaurant. The fact that there was a group of 100+ guests also dinning at the restaurant was testament to the professionality of the owner and the staff.

If you are eating for 2 or 200 this resteraunt is a must whilst you are in Sicily.

It is really hard to believe how anyone could describe the food at this restaurant as unexceptional. Our group of four each ordered different dishes and swapped tastes and it was really hard to tell whose choice was best though all agreed that the home-made pasta with seafood and a marrow (courgette) sauce was to die for.

It is true that the portions are not over-large but this restaurant is about quality, not quantity. To the gentleman below who commented about the size of the portions, I would say that those wanting to stuff themselves should look elsewhere.

The setting is really romantic as others have commented, ideal for a wedding - in fact a Swedish wedding was being held there as we ate. Wedding parties get to enjoy a drink on the upper terrace with its commanding views of Taormina bay. Unfortunately the restaurant level does not have a view but the atmosphere out in the courtyard is very nice.

If any improvement can be suggested, it's in the service which was slow due to the wedding - more staff should have been brought in to cope with it.

Definitely our best meal in a holiday characterised by meals at the best restaurants in Taormina. It was impressive to see a motherly, elderly lady presiding over a restaurant which served such innovative dishes.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. It was fabulous. It is a beautiful, old Villa that still has an ancient ambience. We had a table outside overlooking the sea and Isola Bella. We tried a wonderful Sicilain wine that our waiter suggested. I ordered the pasta alla norma and have never had any pasta dish that compares. Our dinner was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. It was the only restaurant that I would recommend from our stay in Taormina. We were in Taormina for four days and this was far and above the best. I think this restaurant opened sometime in the last year, so it wasn't in our guide books. Thank you, Irene, for the recommendation!

I completely agree with the review that found this restaurant more show than substance. The portions are minimal. I don't expect "nouvelle cousine" when I order Sicilian food, but if it presumes to be then I expect flavors to be surprising, pleasant, and satisfying. Instead I found the food unexceptional and on the salty side (I had the swordfish and an appetizer I can't even remember). The staff was courteous but overworked and could not even ring up our bill in a timely manner. We gave up dessert because we had spent so much time waiting for the dessert menu. Finally, the atmosphere at night is romantic and pleasant but do not expect a view from the lower terrace. for there are high bushes that cover a busy street.
